I did it with the Habsburgs. They own a small county in Switzerland (as they were historically).
How long did it take you?
Extremely fun historical play through no doubt!
That was probably pretty difficult respect
@@frantisekhajek2496 Depends on how quickly your son can marry the daughter of the duke of Austria and k*ll off her brothers so she inherits and then your son can inherit.

I hear he was actually born in some village called Braunau am Inn, but he's fond of this place in Obersalzburg and often spends time in Berlin
Boomer humour
@@vexiliwho actually still says boomer
There were a lot of morally varied Adolfs before the one really bad one.
@@JoshSweetvale there was a bad one?
What's interesting is that this Archduke has relatives in charge of another duchy in the northern part of the Empire, so in a sense there's a possible Hapsburg style type of situation where the different branches of the family start marrying each other to keep the family lands in hand.
I should start my own save for that and just keep having marriages between the two sides and creating incest babies. Conflicted if I should make them horrid or if I should follow the blood dynasty effects

It took me over three or four different characters just to form Austria because I couldn’t get a flipping hook on the Kaiser
What I did was reverse engineer it by getting a hook on someone in line for the throne and making them the kaiser
@@QQzs wish I'd have tried that sooner. I held everything in Austria proper, plus Graz and Karnten. I did get incredibly lucky with succession though. Managing to send off all of my excess sons for three generations to either the holy orders or to the clergy. One even with just a 5% chance of accepting, even with a hook (he was my first firstborn, but didn't inherit genius). Did pull it off in the end, just in the nick of time. My fourth duke dying mere weeks later with two heirs (the second of whom I really didn't want to disinherit, due to how close I was to my next dynasty trait)
Also managed to get the leading score in the second and third crusades for Zaporizhia and Jerusalem, all while being the Habsburg. So Habsburg Ukraine and Jerusalem are a thing. I'm going to continue the campaign to the end at this point
@@QQzs could you explain how you did that? I’ve attempted to form Austria 5 times and the hook is always holding me back.
@@Oliver-ld3ei Ok buckle up, this is gonna be quite detailed. First get a character geared towards an intrigue lifestyle and a good spymaster. Pick up the Truth is Relative & Digging for Dirt perks.
Approach 1
Next, have a look at the HRE line of succession & pick a candidate closer to the top ranks. (Eg 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in line)
Set your Spymaster to „find secrets“ at the court they‘re at, and fish around till you get a strong hook on them. You can get lucky and find a criminal secret on them (eg Murder) and blackmail them with it BUT if that doesnt happen then with the combination of Truth is Relative & your spymaster set to finding secrets, sometimes you‘ll get a random prompt to fabricate a hook on a courtier if there are no more secrets to find, just hope it‘s the candidate you‘re targeting and that it gives you a strong manipulation hook.
Approach 2
Start a fabricate hook scheme @ the candidate, and whenever hook fabrication is ready, make sure you‘ll be getting a strong hook rather than a weak hook. If the scheme is ready and your outcome is a weak hook, delay it and let it run in again until you get strong hook. Don‘t cancel it because there‘s a long cooldown period. For this approach, it‘s best to have your spymaster on Support Schemes task.
You can also try a combo of the two, have your spymaster find secrets at their court while you run a fabricate hook scheme on them.
-
If you dont get lucky with, pick a different candidate to target and try and try again until you find a character with enough skeletons in their closet.
Once you get a strong hook on someone, murder the emperor & whoever else is further in line for the throne until it ends up with the character you have a strong hook on. I suggest picking up additional intrigue perks to help with this & voila, archduchy of austria.
I save this for my last step before making the decision because the HRE succession is super fickle and random events might mess up your hard work (eg they get deposed or die while you try to accomplish the other requirements).
Dude after 2 generations I finally got a strong hook, I was super happy, I only needed one more year to get absolute crown authority, then the fucking emperor “died of old age” at 37. I took a deep breath, then beat the shit out of my desk before not playing for the rest of the week
5:44 I've heard of other Adolf from Austria
I've done that with the Habsburg count in switzerland. To get the achievement you have to do it without war. That was an interesting playthrough
It would have been more fitting to get this formable done with the Habsburgs but at least you not failed like I do with the hook...
If anyone intrested I recommend you to own Istria and/or Krain too when clicking the button so it will also become de jure like Carinthia, but the ingame decision does not shows it. (if the wiki correct)
man you've been teaching me so much about CK3 in the last week or so, your videos have been just playing constantly lmfao
You are on that grind brother. Merry Christmas!
I’ve only been able to get this title once in like 3k hours, but I haven’t played much since royal court.
I completely forgot about the archduchy. I need to try and do that myself
Can you do a video on forming Bene-Israel? Aka the Indian Israel. Some morons mistake it for Beta Israel which is in Africa. Hardest decision in the game by far. You have to convert to a Jewish religion that has no historical characters at all. Then you have to reform the religion to allow it to have a head. Only problem is their holy sites are aren't really in India so you have to go get Jerusalem and such. Oh you also can't have a rank higher than Duke to take the decision to form Bene-Israel. Full requirements to form Bene-Israel decision:
-Malabarism faith
-Malabarism has a head of faith(Which means you need to capture at least 3 of the holy sites to give the faith a head.)
-Rank of Duke or lower
-Realm capital is in the region of India
-Completely control the duchies of Chera Nadu and Konkana
-Devoted Servant level of piety
That sounds like a very interesting challenge.
The AEIOU & Me achievement was easily one of the hardest I’ve ever gotten, especially since I wanted all duchies to be de jure, which just made it harder on me
"We've had another son, Adolf" 💀💀
You really should install the mod: "better ai marriages" so that the king of italy doesnt just make an alliance with a random nobody count in Austria. Like what happened with you here👀
i actually did this 2 years ago.
Pretty fun
"it's a bit expensive but if it makes your heir better it is always worth it. And he's dead ! "
Missed opportunity to do this as the Habsburgs, they are around near Switzerland in 1066 in case you didn’t know. Matter in fact, I know what my next game of ck3 will be now
"Tu felix Austria nube" - 'Let others wage war: thou, happy Austria, marry'
Switzerland is a similar formable if you wish to try that.
you can build a city in the theocratic county, then make it the capital of the county, and the county will no longer be theoratic
I tried to do this right before i was gonna do it i somehow had a gay relationship with the kaiser of the hre and he made me his heir over his kids and i got it all
LOL
Is this rare?? I never even thought about that, I made an alliance with them once as England, and wondered “Hmm, where did they come from?”
i’ve never seen the archduchy be formed by the AI
@@christophersalinas2722 maybe it’s different for consoles? I feel like it’s very random
Shouldve started it with the Habsburg, they started in Swiss, and had families in the middle part of the empire

I decided to try and do this as historically early as I possibly could. It was so. Freaking. Painful. I had to start off doing mad conquest to form the HRE, which was pretty exhausting to do as fast as I could. Then I had to somehow lose control of the HRE, which was easier said than done (everyone kept trying to vote for my character my heir - and even when I lost it I would sometimes still get it voted back to my player character). Then I had to somehow get a strong hook on the Emperor, which took so freaking many fabricate schemes; it's hard to do any scheme at all against an emperor. I think I did manage this pre-1000AD, but I really wouldn't recommend it. It's not worth the pain, lol.
Who did you start as?
@@aleklagerstedt1744 If I recall, it was a duke under the East Francia kingdom (I didn't want to be too cheesy and start as the kingdom itself).
Can you do Bactria
Love ur ck3 content
what mod are you using for your characters and the ai to look like that ?
It must be a crime being this early.
did this a couple weeks ago and ended up forming the roman empire and making around 3k gold a month
I am trying this exact play as well but doing it on Sinews of War. Got to say the mod makes the difficulty so much harder. BUt also makes it a more realistic experiance. Having to have strong allies ot beat my duke lol
the hardest part is by far getting a strong hook, what i do is get ritualized friendship and become best friends (which gives you a strong hook on your friend) with the successor of the hre and then i help him get into power as soon as possible
I did this challenge and did it by 1128 with my own Austrian culture spawned by a random event the only setback was when my 88 year old ruler was murdered and I was struggling for a strong hook on the HRE which I had to fabricate.
Yo, can I ask what that mod is that enables the "colour background" on characters and marks text like "Keiser" purple?
I believe it's "Interface is king"
Am I the only one that feels negative prestige effects are not that bad? Like you can get prestige so easily and it helps when calling Allie’s and such… idk I think it’s worth it
You now need a Strong Hook after some update.
Arch Duchy of Austria is extremely easy. Unless you are trying to get A.E.I.O.U and Me.
I just tried this and it was incredibly frustrating. It's the first game I've played where every. single. Kaiser wasn't a murdering and philandering bastard. RNG decided that this time, the Salians are going to be saintly. I finally had to start a claimant faction, for a whole other guy to get the hook - only for at the last second to get a hook on the emperor's son. I'm 71 years old by this point, so frantically start a murder plot on the Kaiser. First attempt, at 95% fails. Second attempt is discovered, but my involvement isn't. Finally after massive bribery, he dies. I click the button and unpause: my newly crowned archduke immediately dies.
Most helterskelter run I've had in a while
You should have done it with the Habsburgs because it’s more of a challenge getting over to Austria and more historically accurate?
btw they are in Aargau Transjurania in the 1066 starting date
Noice. I heard Roman Empire and got hyped. It's cool but not Hellenic cool.
Are there any other ways to get hooks?
5:44 nothing crossed your mind when the child's name was Adolf 💀
It was and I think still kinda is a common name.
@@razier5299 its not a common name in Austria its not forbidden to name your son Adolf but the name is very rare because of the difficult past. (I only meet one Person with the First Name Adolf in my life)
What kinds of mods are you using in this video?
You should try this in ck2
Forming the archduchy of austria. Just forge a charter.
just when u achieve it u put ur ads for another vid so we can't see the final result...
What mods are you running here?
Why did he not do this challenge as the Habsburg, the famous rulers of Austria?
You only need a hook on the HRE ruler now?
I remember when the game launched, you actually needed a close relative in the throne.
Now, you cant form the archduchy with someone from your house (or maybe even dynasty I cant remember) on the throne. Likely due to house head hooks.
It's a strong hook on her and a weak hook on the Emperor because of the religious laws. She committed a crime through adultery but he didn't so the hook on her is stronger.
Lore of Forming this Kingdom was PAINFUL in CK3 momentum 100
It doesn't cost you any prestige to call allies into a defensive warr
