    Congrats on the minimal fuel leakage. Not too bad for so many connections. What's the expected turn around time on the tranny? Not fast enough, right? Haha!

      @JWClassicVW  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Charlie!! Yeah I was able to fix the fuel T issue pretty easy... and I have no idea on the trans. Soon I hope. The good news is that it arrived in California already.

    Really enjoyed the video. Those spring plates rock and really look great on Goose. Curiosity, what size tires are running on her?

    Hey man great video.
    I'm lovin those spring plates they look exactly the same as what I'm putting on Betsie. Owe wait they are. 🤪
    Let's hope that transmission comes back supper fast .
    Anyhoo thanks for sharing man a interesting video. I'm going to have to check out those torsion bars now.
    ✌🏻 Peace brother.

      Yeah the Sway-a-way should definitely help with the side to side stability... I guess I'll know for sure pretty soon.

    Thanks for the intro shots of Goose. Looking great on the new rims and rubber!
    Left on the passengers and Right on the drivers side IF you're watching in US or on the continent, opposite if you're in NZ Aussie or the UK...or id it the other way round?!?

      @JWClassicVW  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lol.... well I guess that's true if the drivers side is swapped.

    Yeah JW you are cussthem out . You know for 6 Gs that trans should had no issues .

      The original builder didn't mess up the gearbox. Yes we'll over 6 invested in the Berg but I had a local shop install the new shift forks for the Dave Folts early chassis nose cone and they jacked it up.

    Oh wow! Do you have a link to those circlip pliers you were using? Those look like the most heavy duty solid pair I have ever seen and I need to get a solid pair.

    How’s the ride on the 28mm torsion bars? I believe you went from the OEM 24mm? I’m considering upgrading my 63 beetle. Not sure if my OEM ones are worn out, however I set both my left and right rear spring plates to 17 degrees and my drivers side front and rear is an inch lower than the passenger side. So I was thinking of just getting new ones. I believe my OEM ones are 22mm.

    • @JWClassicVW
      @JWClassicVW  ปีที่แล้ว

      I love the stronger feel now... but I upgraded a lot in the rear suspension department.

    What’s the tool called that assists in reinstalling the spring plate on the seat? Struggling through it right now with all the 4 letter words
    Thank you

      There are a bunch of different ones out there, mine is custom made but this should work.

    Where did you get your spring plates what brand are they

    • @JWClassicVW
      @JWClassicVW  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The company is no longer in business... as far as I know there isn't another company producing these. There are a number of different companies making adjustable spring plates. Sway-a-way, Limebug, and Dubfab are a few. Ron Lumas and King_VW61 are making upgraded spring plate end plates with upgraded bushings.

    What do you adjust those plates too?

    • @JWClassicVW
      @JWClassicVW  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This set up is 💯 custom so my degree of angle would be totally different from someone else. Here I'm using the 28mm Sway-a-way Torsion Bars and Atomwerks Adjustable Spring Plates.

  • @johnlist2198
    @johnlist2198 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How do you determine the angle to start with? I have 26mm bars for my '74 Super and I have no idea what angle to set them at upon reinstall

    • @JWClassicVW
      @JWClassicVW  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably best to reach out to Sway-a-way, as the length may be different from mine as well. They can probably email you the directions.

    • @johnlist2198

      I installed 23.5mm Porsche 944 torsion bars in my last Super (longest version, 26-5/16th, I believe). Stock size in a Beetle in the longest/final version is 22mm. I was kinda surprised your stock bars are so much thicker, considering the shorter length. Anyway I think I just installed the 23.5s at the same angle as stock and adjusted from there, but 26s seem like they need to start at a shallower angle from the jump. How do you like true bearings as opposed to bushings?

    • @JWClassicVW
      @JWClassicVW  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So far pretty great but I've never had this kinda power in Goose so all of the new suspension stuff will be put to the test.
