عمر الشغري هو لاجئ سوري وناشط حقوقي ومدير شؤون المعتقلين وحدة عمليات الطوارئ السورية.
هو أحد الناجين القليلين من سجن صيدنايا العسكري المعروف ب "المسلخ البشري".
يشاركنا قصّة نجاته الفريدة والمؤثّرة للتوعية عن الاساءات الممارسة من قبل النظام السوري الى العالم.
في هذه السردة، يخبرنا عمر عن حياته قبل وخلال الاعتقال بالاضافة الى قصة هروبه العظيم. يتحدث عمر عن الفظائع التي شهدها داخل المعتقلات السورية وكيف استطاع ايجاد القوة للمتابعة.
Omar Alshogre @omar.alshogre is a Syrian refugee, a public speaker and human rights activist who is currently the Director for Detainee Affairs at the Syrian Emergency Task Force.
He is one of the few survivors of the notorious Sednaya Military Prison, dubbed “The Human Slaughterhouse.” He now shares his unique and powerful story of survival to raise awareness of the abuses of the Syrian government to the world.
In this Sarde, Omar recounted for us his life before imprisonment, during and his great escape.
He discussed the atrocities and horrors he saw inside the Syrian prison system and how he developed the strength to survive.
Sarde (noun), [Sa-r-de]: A colloquial term used in the Middle East to describe the act of letting go & kicking off a stream of consciousness and a rambling narrative.

سوريا فيها حرب اهليه طائفيه و الشعب السوري منقسم بين اغلبيه علويه و شيعه مع النظام و اغلبيه سنيه ضد بشار و ضد النظام و لكن المشكله في سوريا ان الشعب مخدر و قابل بالوضع و بعضهم منغمس بالحرب و مش قادرين يعملوا مظاهره وآحده حتي يكسروا حاجز الخوف و يحرروا انفسم من الذل و الخوف و الفقر .

I'm so sorry to every Syrian that to goes through this, as a 21 yo Algerian youth,I've never lived a day in war, although my country went through 10 years of terrorism before I was born, I've never fled my home, and I've never been so close to what you guys have been through, I remember as a 10 yo watching TH-cam videos about Syrian kids, at that time I cried so much and felt so much anger, but as I grew up I forgot that this is still happening, I used to see refugees in my city and I would feel bad for them and think that it's the worst they can experience, leaving their homes to be homeless in other countries, little did I know people like Omar went through hell and back, it's unfathomable how cruel it is, I love you and admire your strength so much, more power to you ❤

There are no 17,000 Lebanese detainees, not even 17 Lebanese detainees in Syrian jails. You are either desperately ill informed or insane or a combination of both. We Lebanese are often good liars but the majority of us don't go so far as believing the lies we tell and we try to not make the lie sound too bombastic. هدا البودكاست كنت عم اتجاهلو من زمان لانو عندي اكتئاب حاد وتحديات صعبة بالحياة ، لهيك كنت خايف تتأزم نفسيتي ، ولكن المفاجئة اني حصلت على اعظم دعم الي بحياتي كلها ، هدا الدعم ماعطتني ياه حبوب الاكتئاب ولا جلسات العلاج ولا كتب التنمية البشرية ، ممتن للاخوة يلي عرفونا على عمر ، ممتن الك ياعمر .

لقد مررت بتجربة كتجربته .. هناك الكثير من التفاصيل لا يمكن ذكرها أيضاً بداخل السجون .. هناك أسباب وحشية جداً أكثر من ذلك بكثير .. قضيت عام وثلاثة أشهر ذقت فيها كل أنواع الألم .. تلك الندوب النفسية لازلت موجودة بداخلي .. أحاول هزيمتها على مر الأيام .. ماذا نقول .. ربما لو كتبت هنا آلاف الكلمات لن تكون كافية لشرح ما مررنا به .. لابد وأن ينتصر الحق في يوم ما على الظلم .. شكراً عمر

Not only is there not 120,000 political prisoners in Syrian jails, the vast majority of those who held arms and committed atrocities for long periods of time were pardoned by President Bashar Asad and some of them even became commanders of military regiments and mayors.
These are the 'reconciled members' and their numbers is in the tens of thousands.

He's a great storyteller!! I was hoocked up the whole time listening to him. He made me live all kinds of different emotions, to the point where I felt I was watching a movie . He's mindset, he's coping mechanism, and how he's still going on stronger in this life proving the saying "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger". But what fascinates me the most is how everything happened and worked exactly in the right time, right place and moment to keep him alive to share with us his moving educational story. Great podcast.

This is the first time I finish one of your podcasts in one full sitting. And this is also one of the few times I leave a comment.
IMMENSE respect to Omar, and what a beautiful character he has. What he's been through is unimaginable, and to know that such atrocities are still occurring in the 21st century is a reminder that there is still a greater evil out there. Omar's story, who is still at the age of 25 or 26, just shows us that you anyone can go through through "hell" (extreme psychological and physical pain) and come out with a smile and a purpose in life which serves humanity as a whole and has love written all over it.
Finally, thank you Médéa & Mouin for providing such a platform for individuals of all backgrounds to come and give a voice to the people that need to hear that they are not alone in their struggles, be it personal, political, financial... as well as providing a platform to educate people on a vast number of topics that are so interesting. In short, every podcast that you've done most probably shifted the viewer's reality or helped strengthen their beliefs in a better way.

This was the hardest hour of my life. I cried my eyes out literally. I can't imagine the torture and brutality you and the other prisoners have gone through. It's heartbreaking. I love you. A lot. And I wish you forget these days and live peacefully for the rest of your life.

he said all problems matter and that we should never undermine somebody else's suffering but i somehow felt the total opposite, u never realize how blessed and lucky you are until u hear stories like this. This is a human being that should have been everything but nice and kind and inspirational, yet there he is with that much to offer... chapeau!
also, how is it possible that human beings follows regimes that strip them off of their humanity like that, be it, the Syrian regime or any other... those horrifying stories are beyond belief and comprehension!
