    For cover, I use a Japanese tarp with some thick poles: it can hold serious wind speed (I live on the west coast of South Africa), can be set up in many different ways .
    It takes a bit of time, with training 7-10 minutes is not too much

    I was going to buy a heated blanket - BUT - after some research I bought an electric mattress heater. Likely similar to a blanket but warming the mattress is what works for me to ease the first few minutes when slipping into bed.👍
    I have been on the fence WRT the Moon awning for a while. There are few occasions where I feel I REALLY need it...

      Yeah I use a heated blanket on top of and beneath me when cooler weather camping. The one below me acts like the mattress heater. That’ll keep you more warm under you than above you.

    Throw some welding gloves from Harbor Freight to tend your fires

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I think I’ve recommended that before. That and a welding mat if you use a buddy heater. Both work great!

    Good video, thanks. Do you have the plans or a link to the DIY you followed for the propex heater suitcase?

    I think im about to get a hest mattress myself. Ive heard too many great things about them so they must be good. Im also glad how u presented the power supplies and u may be the only overland/camping youtuber that has said you choose which is best for you, they all are good and i appreciate that. Thanks again bro for going over some great products to enhance the camping experience! Cant wait for part 3 and some camping and overlanding videos also. I fired up my diesel heater yesterday to make sure its good to go for my upcoming trip

      To be fair I mean the bigger brands I’ve tried are all pretty much the same. I’ve tested a few off brand ones that I’ve straight up returned or gotten rid of because they weren’t very good. Bluetti, Anker, Ecoflow, Jackery I can recommend. The offbrand stuff I’d say do your research but they could also work.

      And I think you’ll like the Heat and if you don’t they have a great return policy. If you do end up buying one let me know and I’ll see if I can get you an insider link. But I can’t 100% confirm if I can get a cheaper deal, I’ll just see if I can.

    The only suggestion I have is instead of a diesel heter. They do make gasoline versions of those types of heaters. So you don't want to carry three of fule with you but a very good video

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn’t know they make gas ones! Are they expensive? I have a propane one I’m trying to build out now but I’m stumped on it. The diesel ones are cheap so that’s why I recommend them most of the time but gas heater could be a good one if the price is right.

      @OXFOOT I think they are about the same as the diesel one's jut put gasoline, heater to check the price to know for sure

    What is the model and name of your bike rack? I didn’t see it in the Description. Was it on Amazon?

    The thing that sucks about those types of fire pits is all the heat goes straight up. Doesn’t radiate outward much at all. The tripod torch or the BioLite firepit is way better. They radiate outward really well. …and are smokeless.

    • @OXFOOT
      @OXFOOT  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ll have to check out that one from biolite then. The smokeless pits like this I use more for ambiance than heat so that makes sense.

      @@OXFOOT +1 on the BioLite fire pit. It's a little bit bulky but, so is the one you showed in the video. It comes with the metal grate for cooking. There is a cast iron pan custom made for cooking as an extra. I can't recommend that as it is QUITE heavy. We'll be using it tomorrow on New Year's eve. Anything to keep the Mrs happy!

    Got a link to that heater in the box that you have there or the DIY?

    • @OXFOOT

      That one is DIY but HCalory has one I’m about to try out.

    Not all solar generators/power stations are the same and I think you're missing a few big drawbacks to them. In fact I'd say 90% of them are ill suited for off-road overland use. First, most only have one 12 cigarette port and maybe 2 DC barrel ports. The 12V cig port is non-locking so there is potential that it gets loose, causes voltage drop and your fridge won't run. Since most power stations only have ONE 12V cig port you will only be able to power your fridge or your diesel heater, not both. Second, most of the 12V cig ports are only rated at 10 amps. Most diesel heaters have an initial power surge during start up and will draw 12-14 amps. Once it gets going then it will draw less but in certain situations they need more than 10 amps to start up. So your diesel heater you brought for winter camping might not even start up at all. This isn't all the time but something to note especially if you are searching for power stations. Most of your popular brands like GZ, DJI, Ecoflow, Bluetti all have the same draw backs and aren't good for overland use. If you are buying a power station for that type of use make sure it has a locking 12V port or power pole connectors and make sure it has high amperage 12V connectors. Otherwise you are buying something meant to just charge your laptop and drones, not a fridge or diesel heater.

      Great points. Accurate.

      I found out the information you mentioned AFTER making a purchase. There are some simple work-arounds. For the diesel heater start up issue I bought a 300W inverter. It roughly is the size of my hand. I have to plug into the AC port so there is a little extra power loss converting DC to AC and then back but, the heater starts right up now. This also solved the problem of only on cig port. For other appliances I am in the middle of making some adapter cords that have a female cig port leading to the 12V barrel ports.
      One point you didn't mention is the time it takes to charge those larger power stations on the go. Bluetti has come out with their Charger1 that solves that for any power station.
      My smaller power station runs off a solar panel on my hood powering a 45 litre fridgeindefinitely in moderate sunshine when parked.

    Welcome to Colorado. Pro Tip: If you say you live in Colorado then it’s ColoRADo not ColoRawDough.

      I like to think of it like Gif, I know the word is pronounced Jif but after years of being here it’s easier to pronounce it Gif or Colorahdo.
