Thanks for this tutorial... I played a sax to grade 5 years ago but never studied chords... trying to understand them now to create music in Ableton... it is very easy to follow and encouraging. Signing up to your course now.
Absolutely no earthly idea about music theory until I signed up for that free music theory course - starting to make sense of it all 👏 thank you Manny 😍
@@NXISEWOLF I don't have such a knowledge, so I wouldn't know what modes are :) I will try to explain, maybe that's how they are called. For instance, could we mix chords from different scales? Which chords from different scales are compatible each other etc? Thanks!
For example, if I am using a chord from C major scale and want to continue using other chord from other scale but stay in the same key? Does this make sense? :D
@@predragbogdanoski6872 yes! What you are referring to is modulation and borrowing chords from other scales. I will cover that topic in the future too! But before that, learn the chords that belong to their specific scales!
@@NXISEWOLF Cool. I am going through the course now, maybe there you talk about that as well. It is explained really understandable for the beginners. Thanks again :)
The latter half did a cool job of highlighting just why popular chord progressions and their major/minor feeling rotation are used, I feel like it could have done without the scale building and done more into progression analysation. WHY do certain chord progressions obtain popularity? If you are just learning scales now, the chord progression functionalities are a bit too far ahead, because the scale concept and interval training is assumed brand new.
Hey! Thanks for the comment! I actually will be doing a video on chord progression analysis soon! This video was aimed at looking at the relationship between both scales and chords :) Thanks for watching and hope you are keeping well!
