I want Serral to send his side of the video at the end that I'm sure he took. Where he slows down, takes a look at the game state and gives his annoyed and dissatisfied look of disapproval /gg quit. I was once asked a tough question; what drives you to win. The LOVE of winning or the HATE of losing? I think Serral plays to win because he hates losing more then Harstem who seems to be driven by the joy of winning.

Killing all the overlords there was the breaking point, he was constantly able to re-up to keep on pace with the corruptor production but once the overlords were all dead that meant that corruptor kills were permanent and he didn't have enough larvae to get them up to stabilize, what a sick game!!!
LOL this was Serrals first and last game today. Previous games 2 days ago, the losing game 5h ago, that's all. I think it might've triggered the Greatest Of All Time, which i can understand. Congratz Kevin, that's an accomplishment to be noted on your liquipedia page.

He's been analysing the game to try and find a counter before his next game.

I mean, it's not really that he needs to find a counter to this in particular, he could definitely counter a build like this no problem if he knew that it was the build that was being used, the only thing that might cause him trouble is that he probably wants to know how he should scout this build (and maybe not even just this build in particular but other similar builds too) without compromising his matchup vs. builds that look similar (at least they look similar from his point of view).
@@eqsaz He had lots of spores, eventually. The real game changer was that very first opening with a bunch of phoenixes destroying all those queens for almost free. He had no reason to have spores out in the middle of the map, yet.

I'd love to hear Serrals opinion on this game. Though it might be a bit offensive to ask him to review it with you for a video, I think its a lot more interesting to see a champion's perspective on a loss than a victory.
My guess is that Serral would just say that he reacted correctly to seeing a cybercore with no upgrades going, but that sometimes reacting correctly means you still lose some games. It's very common in pro tournaments for a player to prepare a build specifically to trick their opponent and take a game off of them when they react in a standard fashion. Often times it works to take just one game. But then the tournament games are like best 7. So in game 2, the other player adjusts their own build just slightly, to ensure they don't fall to the same trick twice. Beyond the incorrect initial reaction, there's likely not much serral could have done better. He was building the correct counter to phoenixes afterwards, but he was playing from behind after he lost all those queens.

@@kurtdupree1254 Perhaps he actually watched the vod and refers to the numerous occasions Harstem did something accidentally as he said so himself (Lifting his probe, cutting workers on his 3rd etc).
Serral would be just to blame for not scouting hard enough against Harstem. If he had a second overlord in position to scout the inbase cybercore he would have been aware to add some spores, build corrupters more quickly and/ or research flyer carapace instead of adding roaches.

I so appreciated that Serral kept playing even after the first unscounted phoenixes raid. He must have known at that point "ok, fuck, that's gg".
I mean, when you hear the tosses bips are having an english accent, you know your opponent is pretty happy with himself.
But no, he's a competitor and he tries, giving us in the process what we wanted even more to see: how the GOAT can defend against a perfectly set up AND ongoing cheese performed by another actual pro player.

Came back to this video... cause I love it... after watching Lowko cast a tournament match against you two now (a year later) after you're obviously training hard, you really gave him a run for his money... oh but Captain, I forgot until rewatching this one, that from 23:00 on, you're in top Harstem form 25:06... lol, sighs, it's breathtaking sometimes... it's not nice but I laugh thinking of him needing to replace his shattered keyboard or mouse immediately after this game... gods 59 MMR at his level must takes weeks to build back up, lol I've literally seen HeroMarine gain 0 MMR while his opponent lost -1 after a ladder game when he was getting towards the top... if Serral had that problem, then all condolences for him...

Did you notice Harstem's macro in game 1 though? He had 120 supply at 11 minutes, it was so bad. His early third in game two is really what got him the w
tbh Harstem was just messing about in the first game. The moment he plays vs Serral he even puts his tryhard pants on. You can see how happy he is when he is standing face to face with him and beats him.

As a Zerg player I’ve had similar things done to me. It doesn’t feel great because there isn’t much you can do. If the toss is quick enough to threaten your worker/queen production and then they just outnumber your corrupters when you do end up making them. Making you loose enough money to tap
RLy Hasterm, Uthermal and Lowko are the only ones that we left as streamers - youtuber to our favorite game. Thank god all these 3 are awsome! And i love that are 1 Toss. 1 Terran and one Zerg.

Hahahaha, as far as i see, the only way to beat Serral, is to SURPRISE him somewhere (& it is VERY HARD to surprise him), caught him off guard, then HIT HIM AS HARD AS ONE CAN (giving him any chance & he will probably seize it & turn the table), hoping that'll work. It is really difficult to beat him straight up - he is so damn CONSISTENTLY GOOD at practically anything in StarCraft2 competitive gaming.

The nice thing about phoenixes (and pretty much any fast air units) is that if you are winning the air fight, you chase down the loser and just crush; and if you're losing, you can run away and just blow up a bunch of their other stuff on the way (in this case overlords, drones, queens etc) so you're almost always putting out damage while the enemy is wasting time chasing you and not able to get much damage done.
