Vinny Raniolo does an amazing great job with rhythm and harmonization. Also, how can be possible that in a such long concert they did not do a single mistake with a wrong chord or a note? That's genius!

We saw them in a restaurant in VA. We had front row seats six feet from them. I play guitar and I watched everything they did like a hawk. Vinny gets some amazing sounds out of that flattop Collings, you don't expect to see that in jazz. It just proves that a great guitarist can get the sounds they want out of their instrument. They are great performers and obviously enjoyed us watching and reacting to everything they did. They did a couple of requests for us, talked with us afterwards, and I will never forget that night.
I was lucky enough to meet Frank and Vinny at a jazz concert here in Evans, GA a few years ago. As a fledgling guitarist for many years they totally blew me away. I told Frank that watching him play gave me an urge to throw my guitar away, as I almost did with my golf clubs when I saw Nicklaus hit a driver for the first time!
Just when I think they can't get any better, then this, they never ceases to amaze me. bravo gentleman. thank you for sharing your passion with us we are truly blessed
Thanks for give us the opportunity « to be with you » for an other great moment of beautiful music. Franck and Vinnie are so talentuous and pleasants to !!!
I am so happy to see and hear you and Vinny working together. To me you are an inseparable duo and a blessing to watch. Take care………Stay away from ATVs.
I do regret not being able to make the show in Goshen, IN last night!!! A lost opportunity that doesn't happen that often around here. My thanks to Vinnie also for his tutorial material! My thanks too to Frank and his work with Martin Taylor who's been the top of my list for many years!! You are all as inspirational as you are a joy to hear!! I love the work with the old standards!! Keep up the great work!!
I was there! They were fantastic. And I was there when they returned this past winter. And, of course, they were fantastic again. I'm pretty sure that because of the damned COVID-19, they won't be back this coming winter. 2022, I'm hoping.
@@bobtaylor170 It's hard to keep up on what's going on in this area. All too often I only hear about things AFTER they happen!!! A lot of good that does!!!
@@Blasthoff , yes, this is a sort of dead zone in a lot of ways, isn't it? A friend found out about their return here in March only because he went to the Vignola website. Before the show, I was coming out of the men's room, turned a sort of corner, and there he was, guitar case in hand, Vignola himself. He saw the shock on my face and laughed. We exchanged a couple of pleasantries and he had to move off to the dressing room. A very nice guy. I wanted to scream, "You know you're the greatest fucking jazz guitarist in the world, don't you?!" but managed to restrain myself.
Frank once told me that when he put out his first CD and advertised it in Just Jazz Guitar Magazine the first check he got in the mail was from my late father (he sent it back, along with the CD). It was Bucky Pizzarelli who told my dad about him, which gives you an idea what the older generation of guitarists thought of Frank when he came on the scene. Great video, except for the abrupt ending mid-Jobim.
I presume your father to be the great guitarist, Tony Mottola? I am in in my 40's and have a selection of his works - Roman Guitar one of my favorites. "Its Sunday" with Sinatra still gives me goosebumps. My Father as a kid in the 60's met him once in Upstate NY when your Father passed through and visited family. I think that is the story. Your Father certainly stands out of the many in the great heritage of outstanding guitarists of Italian extraction.

This is the true musical sinergy. Amazing players!

I am so glad you recovered from your ATV accident. Sounds like it was very serious for you. Thank God you survived and recovered.

Vinny is seriously underrated. He's a superb rhythm guitarist, and can keep it up for hours! (Ooo-er, Missus...)

Thanks for posting - this is OUTSTANDING, as well as a fine addition to an extended binge listen to Oscar Alemán and Django Reinhardt.

Odd, had the opposite reaction when I met Frank in San Jose. Buckled down and started woodshedding. To each his own !
Musicians and Magicians!!! I could watch this over and over, and I am. 😀👍

Magic.
Fantastic playing, beautiful chord voicings and immaculate arrrangements. So slick yet so effortless sounding. A joy to listen to.
Absolute Mastery with a great sense of humor
Frank is also a terrific teacher on Truefire
I attest to that as I am one of his many students also...

It's wonderful. I love it. But it's disappointing that the recording doesn't continue to the end of the performance. Why?

Why don’t they give them a chair or something? It is kind of exhausting to stand up for half an hour or whatever with a guitar
There were absolutely no chairs in the whole country even thou they demanded to have a pair. 🤪
Guitars with no pedals…………..
