So you might be wondering what's going on... well, me too! Long story short I'm the Florida girl that went on a road trip and made her family drive an hour out of the way to visit Gastonia, NC because of a TikTok... Yep, you read that right because I saw a TikTok.
Now the TikTok I'm talking about was made by the content creator @realzacharykeesee here’s a link to his original video for reference.

Don’t waste your time coming back up haha. There are nice(r) parts of Gastonia but no reason to take a detour. If you want mountains just take the couple extra hours to Asheville/Boone/etc. if he takes you on a tour he’ll show you the new baseball stadium and Webb custom kitchen probably. Good food, not worth it. Not much else there.
anything off of 321 or 74 is rundown and crappy which are the main roads through gastonia. the nice area for houses is gaston day school road, kendrick road, robinwood rd. these have a few million dollar houses. the nicer areas are crowders mtn(which is the hiking trail you are talking about) , martha rivers park, Schiele museum, the greenway trail is also nice.

All I can say is, bless your heart. I live in Charlotte and I won’t even drive through Gastonia to get to the mountains. Place is a dump. Can only imagine the disappointment.

Actually they were super nice! They asked a bunch of questions and stuff but they kept everything authentic! Like they didn’t change anything or cut up my words. Everyone was awesome there!

Lol I’m from Dallas which is in sane county as Gastonia and drive right by where you recorded to get to work everyday but next time go check out Cherokee or Bryson City NC in the Mountains you won’t be disappointed… and if you do stop in Gastonia there’s Also Pita Wheel which is a cool little place to stop and eat and Tony’s Ice Cream which most of the presidents have stopped and got every time they come through from Charlotte

The town of Little Switzerland is very close to Boone and you wouldn't know you are not in Switzerland.

Webb Custom Kitchen in Gastonia is the cool restaurant you want to visit when you come back. Great food in an old early 1900s movie theater.

There is no pretty part of Gastonia. I use to live there. It's a garbage hole to say the least. Just letting you know before you waste more of your time.

There is actually a very beautiful town in the mountains of North Carolin called Little Switzerland. A couple of hours northwest of Trashtonia!

There is really nothing nice about Gastonia! I lived there for two years and aside from a couple of decent parks and hiking trails, it's just full of trashy people, crime, and drugs. Its commonly referred to as the "gas house" because more inmates are on death row from Gastonia than any other city in NC. I would consider it more dumpy than dangerous, but it's pretty high on crime there too.

That's a good laugh! Reminds me of when my 70 yr old mother thought keyboard-cat was really playing the organ. I broke the news to her and we laughed til we cried.😂😅😂
