    Thanks. Doing my first seal inspection next week and figured there had to be something on TH-cam about it. Great video

      Gunz, congrats.
      Make certain you have read through the procedure and regs applicable for your jurisdiction. There will be specific information about the W&H for the inspection.
      Follow them.
      Document everything. Nothing worse than having to repeat an inspection for that one item missed during the initial inspection.
      Be safe, and let us know how it goes.
      Mr. Eric

    Great video Mr. Eric. I did an inspection on an internal floater a few months back where I found 4 center columns that were out of plumb and warped. Tank was very old, built to API 12C with the same original steel pan floater which was also warped pretty badly. Client decided to demolish the fixed roof and the floating roof amd convert the tank to an EFR. They really wanted to squeeze some more years out of this tank! I say this tank has had a good run and they got their money's worth out of it

    Funny how you say “these guys get excited” that’s because they think gaps in the primary seals like this are a problem, but they are only a problem if the total measurements are in excess of regulatory requirements. On 48” D tank, 1/4” every few feet would be unlikely to bust a permit.

    Hey Mr. Eric,
    I’ve been searching for these types of videos for a good while. I’m glad I’ve found yours, it will be very beneficial for sure. I’m a young API 510/570 and have not had much experience with tanks. In reference to the roof seal, what would the gap dimension need to be for your to make an inspection recommendation?

      Mr Thomas, thanks.
      As far as gaps and guidelines or isn't straightforward for every AST, every client and jurisdiction, there are significantly different differences betwixt these.

    What is the correct scissor seal installation method in floating roof storage tanks for hydrocarbons?

    • @MrEric_API
      @MrEric_API  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The correct scissor seal installation method is dependent upon the seal manufacture recommendations. Ideally, the primary and secondary seal must be protected and inspected after completion of assembly to verify no damage occurred. Something as seemingly innocuous as a bruise from mounting bolts will eventually be the site of seal fabric failures. I have documented such an incident in one of my YT videos.

    Hello Mr. Eric!
    I recently passed the API 653 exam and was wondering how I land my first "API" job. I have a background of 10+ years of NDT.
    Thank you
