When i was a young child our house burned down, total loss. My mother of 8 children never ever complained about what we lost, the only thing she ever said was "thank God no one was hurt" imagine a mom of 8 having nothing...i realized years later that she taught me to value people not things. Its obvious you can see what really matters. Glad you are ok and come on down to florida its great here! Be safe

But don't think for one minute they would send a van or do anything else for regular owners who don't have thousands of followers on TH-cam and broadcast tragedies like this. You motivated us to review our emergency exit procedures as well as the locations and operation of all the fire extinguishers. We are going to review the fire safe and see if it's adequate for valuables. I'm sure there's a number of people you have motivated and you may have saved lives with your video. We both teared up on this one.

Hey Josh this is a wonderful opportunity to do some fire safety training like what kind of extinguisher or suppression that’s right for the different kinds of units and the dual sensor detectors and simple things to check as regular maintenance. What do you think?
@@HappyCamper1992 My best advisory when it comes to fire safety? Get away from the RV. That's something I feel strongly should be left to professionals. I feel fire extinguishers in RVs should be used just to help you and your family get out to safety. Then, steer clear.

My thoughts were more along the lines of preventative measures certain maintenance that the lack of can cause fires tire pressure and age issues maintenance of hubs and also the long debate of running propane while traveling. Just some thoughts. But yes once it starts you only have seconds to save your life.
@@HappyCamper1992 Great idea, Jay. And this fire also proves how life saving a rear exit is. Had this couple been asleep in the rear..they would have surely not survived the smoke inhalation alone. But I'm sure Andrew didn't purchase this RV without it being thoroughly inspected first. Surely he's learned the importance of that with all the RV veteran salespeople he's spoken too. And let's be honest. Lack of maintenance should give you issues with things working properly..and NOT with causing a fire that could have killed this couple. No excuse for this fire my friend except a design flaw that allowed it to happen. And Newell sending a van won't bring back everything they lost..and they only did that because Andrew has thousands of followers and broadcast the event. Regular people wouldn't get that kind of treatment. If Newell has any sense of moral compass and appreciates all the public relations and customers Andrew has brought them..they will replace this RV free of charge for Andrew. But I won't hold my breath on that..and certainly don't ever plan on purchasing a Newell RV after watching this. Take care!

Full time RV’d for 8 years. So sad for you two but like you said it’s all material and can be replaced. Thank god you were quick thinking enough to get out and not try to fight it. Life knocks you down, it’s all about how you get up. I know with your platform you will use this to better us all on prevention of this sort of thing. Keep your chin up and breath deep. Sometimes life sucks but come out on the other side better for having been through it. I’ll definitely keep watching for your life updates. You had me at Newell.

@@hamiam2243 Sadly..fire extinguishers won't help you if you are asleep in the rear with no rear exit. The smoke inhalation alone would kill you. Rear exits are crucial. Newell lost a customer in me after seeing this.

That’s so kind of you Brad. We all feel like they had a miraculous escape from injury or worse. I’m guessing that what they need is somewhere to stay safe and the funds to replace their valuables. I can’t seem to find their Just Giving site from the United Kingdom. Everyone should review their own situation with regards to escaping from a raging fire and have the necessary equipment to do this urgently. I’m sure we’ll speak soon 💫
@@lorrieleaver2447 Are you aware that they or he had insurance and it will play to replace all of his physical possessions? And in this video he says the go fund me that has collected over $123,000 will go to Shea to replace her possessions. Collectively all of their possessions according to them were in the RV. It does not appear that they are married therefore her possessions probably won’t be covered, but his definitely will be. It would be very hard for one person‘s possessions to equal $123,000 +. The RV dealership sent them a sprinter van immediately. Other than being scared out of their minds they are fine. Meanwhile there are people all over the world that have actual no food and actual no home…. And he has a rental house in Florida. Maybe be sympathetic for what they went through but dollars could go to more needy people at this point, in my opinion.

@@lynncanatella9711 Obviously I am aware of the tragedy of the war raging in the Ukraine 🇺🇦 and, like millions of people I’m doing everything possible to support the hunger and displaced people who need so much. I’m donating to the united charities and a plane just took off full of medical supplies. Whilst your opinion has validity I’m doing everything I possibly can. I can also tell you for a fact that should I have all of my belongings in an RV it would cost 💲 hundreds of thousands to replace. If they feel people have been overgenerous they are free to donate to others. I trust both Andrew and Shea completely. Insurers can take months to pay as they are required to investigate exactly what happened. I highly commend everyone who has donated. Thank you.

This is the first I've seen of this on here & when I saw it in my feed, I thought you had come across someone else's camper on fire, until I played the video then I was dumbfounded & shocked!! I'm so relieved you all got out in time & were safe. Items always come last compared to lives, even thou we want to save those precious items, sometimes we just can't. Tears were running down my face when you couldn't get your words out, then when you were both in the bus tearing up, man that was hard to hold back. I just bought a Class A last week. This video was helpful. Makes sense to always have a go bag when the RV is in motion near you so you can bail quickly. Hang in there buddy’s, this is definitely going to be a couple weeks of emotion to lose personal things but you will do well because of this. I used to be first in after catastrophe’s and it was heart wrenching but I was fortunate to witness the human spirit recover after the very worst. ‘New sub, hope it helps.

Glad you, your SO, and the dogs are safe and looks like some of your keepsakes are salvageable. You were also fortunate to pick a DP that had a mid entrance as running past a burning dash to get out probably isn't the best situation. Goes to show that all RV owners should make sure their secondary emergency exit plans are known and working. Again, the important things were saved, the rest is insured. So grateful you are all OK. We had an rv fire in our brand new coach many years ago while driving down the road . It burned down past the speedometer and they couldn't even read the mileage. We had no money, wallet and I didn't have shoes on when I jumped out. We were fortunate that an off duty fireman was driving behind us and waved us down to tell us there was fire coming out the rear. It took us 5 years to settle our claim so be patient if you can.Turned out that there was a recall that we took in to get fixed the week after be bought it new that really didn't get fixed. Hang in there this too will pass.Thinking of you both.

As I watched this video, I was surprised to see the baggage compartment lights working despite the insane carnage. I would have thought the fire department would have disconnected the batteries. It's almost as if that Newell still has it's spirit there with you with a glimmer of hope to pass on to you guys. God Bless you and hang in there. Really hope to meet you one of these days.
So...what caused the fire? We all understand the loss and dissapointment and Newell stepping up to help customers... BUT WHAT HAPPENED? I have to believe their engineers are asking this also.

So Glad that you got out alive!! I have been in fires before, on a Navy ship, and I learned that the difference between a small fire that can be put out easily and a Major, Out of Control fire like this one is about 2 MINUTES!!! That's why fire extinguishers are so good to have around....

So sorry you're going through this. You're going to be fine. You'll find that you have a "pre-fire" and a "post-fire" memories. You'll find that you want to find something and you have to think "was this in the fire?" We had just sold our store and had some cash that was in a desk. We were able to save the desk and the money. We had only the clothes on our back also so I know the feeling....no clean clothes, no tooth brush, no shampoo....all the things that you never think about until they are gone! When we went shopping to get some clothes my husband opened his wallet and the salesman asked if we had bar-b-q-ed our money. The smoke smell was incredible. The things that you save will have a lingering smoke smell for 20 years. But the good thing is you have each other and you dust your pants off, get up and go again. You're young and strong and have a whole lot of memories ahead to make. Bless you and stay strong!

Very sorry for your loss. I feel your pain. We had a fire in our house in 2019 and it is a helpless feeling. Some words of advice, take an inventory of EVERYTHING. Keep the keepsakes if you can, but you may find that the smoke smell triggers something that makes you want to get rid of it. It did for me. Don’t feel bad charging the insurance company. That is what they are there for. Hug each other tight. From now on, your lives will be know as “Before the fire” and “After the fire”. Message me if you need anything.

I'm so sorry you had this happen to you. We lost our truck and fifth wheel to a fuel leak caused fire in 2016. You sound like you have a ton of support. We bounced back after the insurance settlement and were back on the road in a new rig two months later. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Used a large fire extinguisher from the truck with no luck. Total loss. Just the close on our backs. Your emotions will be off the chart for a while. Payers to y'all.

Even before discovering your channel I would go online and look at videos of motor coaches and motor coach resorts. Andrew, thank you for the wake up call. I will be training my family on where the Emergency Fire Exits are and the Fire Extinguishers and how to use them on our Prevost. I too lost a Prevost to fire but it was above the Tag Axle which allowed everyone time to get out. Keep your chin up and glad everyone is safe.

I’m so sorry this happened but so glad you and your dogs are ok. I am a boater on the upper Chesapeake Bay in MD. There were two boat fires this past summer where we boat. Those boats were total losses. Now when we go out, I pack a ditch bag for wallets, cell phones, shoes, clothes, car keys, etc just in case. The folks on the boats that burned were safe but lost everything on the boats. It can happen in minutes. God bless!

I feel fire extinguishers in RVs should be used just to help you and your family get out to safety. Then, steer clear.

My thoughts were more along the lines of preventative measures certain maintenance that the lack of can cause fires tire pressure and age issues maintenance of hubs and also the long debate of running propane while traveling. Just some thoughts. But yes once it starts you only have seconds to save your life.

@@HappyCamper1992 Great idea, Jay. And this fire also proves how life saving a rear exit is. Had this couple been asleep in the rear..they would have surely not survived the smoke inhalation alone. But I'm sure Andrew didn't purchase this RV without it being thoroughly inspected first. Surely he's learned the importance of that with all the RV veteran salespeople he's spoken too. And let's be honest. Lack of maintenance should give you issues with things working properly..and NOT with causing a fire that could have killed this couple. No excuse for this fire my friend except a design flaw that allowed it to happen. And Newell sending a van won't bring back everything they lost..and they only did that because Andrew has thousands of followers and broadcast the event. Regular people wouldn't get that kind of treatment. If Newell has any sense of moral compass and appreciates all the public relations and customers Andrew has brought them..they will replace this RV free of charge for Andrew. But I won't hold my breath on that..and certainly don't ever plan on purchasing a Newell RV after watching this. Take care!

Full time RV’d for 8 years. So sad for you two but like you said it’s all material and can be replaced. Thank god you were quick thinking enough to get out and not try to fight it. Life knocks you down, it’s all about how you get up. I know with your platform you will use this to better us all on prevention of this sort of thing. Keep your chin up and breath deep. Sometimes life sucks but come out on the other side better for having been through it. I’ll definitely keep watching for your life updates. You had me at Newell.

@@hamiam2243 Sadly..fire extinguishers won't help you if you are asleep in the rear with no rear exit. The smoke inhalation alone would kill you. Rear exits are crucial. Newell lost a customer in me after seeing this.

That’s so kind of you Brad. We all feel like they had a miraculous escape from injury or worse. I’m guessing that what they need is somewhere to stay safe and the funds to replace their valuables. I can’t seem to find their Just Giving site from the United Kingdom.
Everyone should review their own situation with regards to escaping from a raging fire and have the necessary equipment to do this urgently. I’m sure we’ll speak soon 💫
@@lorrieleaver2447 Are you aware that they or he had insurance and it will play to replace all of his physical possessions? And in this video he says the go fund me that has collected over $123,000 will go to Shea to replace her possessions. Collectively all of their possessions according to them were in the RV. It does not appear that they are married therefore her possessions probably won’t be covered, but his definitely will be. It would be very hard for one person‘s possessions to equal $123,000 +. The RV dealership sent them a sprinter van immediately. Other than being scared out of their minds they are fine. Meanwhile there are people all over the world that have actual no food and actual no home…. And he has a rental house in Florida. Maybe be sympathetic for what they went through but dollars could go to more needy people at this point, in my opinion.

@@lynncanatella9711 Obviously I am aware of the tragedy of the war raging in the Ukraine 🇺🇦 and, like millions of people I’m doing everything possible to support the hunger and displaced people who need so much. I’m donating to the united charities and a plane just took off full of medical supplies. Whilst your opinion has validity I’m doing everything I possibly can. I can also tell you for a fact that should I have all of my belongings in an RV it would cost 💲 hundreds of thousands to replace. If they feel people have been overgenerous they are free to donate to others. I trust both Andrew and Shea completely. Insurers can take months to pay as they are required to investigate exactly what happened.

I'm so relieved you all got out in time & were safe. Items always come last compared to lives, even thou we want to save those precious items, sometimes we just can't. Tears were running down my face when you couldn't get your words out, then when you were both in the bus tearing up, man that was hard to hold back. I just bought a Class A last week. This video was helpful. Makes sense to always have a go bag when the RV is in motion near you so you can bail quickly. Hang in there buddy’s, this is definitely going to be a couple weeks of emotion to lose personal things but you will do well because of this. I used to be first in after catastrophe’s and it was heart wrenching but I was fortunate to witness the human spirit recover after the very worst.

Glad you, your SO, and the dogs are safe and looks like some of your keepsakes are salvageable. You were also fortunate to pick a DP that had a mid entrance as running past a burning dash to get out probably isn't the best situation. Goes to show that all RV owners should make sure their secondary emergency exit plans are known and working. Again, the important things were saved, the rest is insured. So grateful you are all OK. We had an rv fire in our brand new coach many years ago while driving down the road . It burned down past the speedometer and they couldn't even read the mileage. We had no money, wallet and I didn't have shoes on when I jumped out. We were fortunate that an off duty fireman was driving behind us and waved us down to tell us there was fire coming out the rear. It took us 5 years to settle our claim so be patient if you can.Turned out that there was a recall that we took in to get fixed the week after be bought it new that really didn't get fixed. Hang in there this too will pass.Thinking of you both.

As I watched this video, I was surprised to see the baggage compartment lights working despite the insane carnage. I would have thought the fire department would have disconnected the batteries. It's almost as if that Newell still has it's spirit there with you with a glimmer of hope to pass on to you guys. God Bless you and hang in there. Really hope to meet you one of these days.

I have been in fires before, on a Navy ship, and I learned that the difference between a small fire that can be put out easily and a Major, Out of Control fire like this one is about
2 MINUTES!!! That's why fire extinguishers are so good to have around....

So sorry you're going through this. You're going to be fine. You'll find that you have a "pre-fire" and a "post-fire" memories. You'll find that you want to find something and you have to think "was this in the fire?" We had just sold our store and had some cash that was in a desk. We were able to save the desk and the money. We had only the clothes on our back also so I know the feeling....no clean clothes, no tooth brush, no shampoo....all the things that you never think about until they are gone! When we went shopping to get some clothes my husband opened his wallet and the salesman asked if we had bar-b-q-ed our money. The smoke smell was incredible. The things that you save will have a lingering smoke smell for 20 years. But the good thing is you have each other and you dust your pants off, get up and go again. You're young and strong and have a whole lot of memories ahead to make. Bless you and stay strong!

Very sorry for your loss. I feel your pain. We had a fire in our house in 2019 and it is a helpless feeling. Some words of advice, take an inventory of EVERYTHING. Keep the keepsakes if you can, but you may find that the smoke smell triggers something that makes you want to get rid of it. It did for me. Don’t feel bad charging the insurance company. That is what they are there for. Hug each other tight. From now on, your lives will be know as “Before the fire” and “After the fire”. Message me if you need anything.

I'm so sorry you had this happen to you. We lost our truck and fifth wheel to a fuel leak caused fire in 2016. You sound like you have a ton of support. We bounced back after the insurance settlement and were back on the road in a new rig two months later. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

So glad y'all are OK. And I feel you pain, I do because it happened to us in Colorado June 2021. We were pulling a Jayco white Hawk TT. I noticed flames coming out of the side while driving. Used a large fire extinguisher from the truck with no luck. Total loss. Just the close on our backs. Your emotions will be off the chart for a while. Payers to y'all.
Main thing is that you both and the dogs are ok. Things can be replaced, lives can't!

Andrew, I've been enjoying so many of your videos recently and find myself often fantasizing about owning a motor coach and hitting the road. Even before discovering your channel I would go online and look at videos of motor coaches and motor coach resorts. I had just run across your video of you and Shay and this coach you personally owned just yesterday. When I saw the thumbnail of your coach on fire today it was like a punch in the gut. Andrew, thank you for the wake up call. I will be training my family on where the Emergency Fire Exits are and the Fire Extinguishers and how to use them on our Prevost. I too lost a Prevost to fire but it was above the Tag Axle which allowed everyone time to get out. Keep your chin up and glad everyone is safe.

I’m so sorry this happened but so glad you and your dogs are ok. I am a boater on the upper Chesapeake Bay in MD. There were two boat fires this past summer where we boat. Those boats were total losses. Now when we go out, I pack a ditch bag for wallets, cell phones, shoes, clothes, car keys, etc just in case. The folks on the boats that burned were safe but lost everything on the boats. It can happen in minutes. God bless!
