- My second visit of the year to the East Somerset Railway was for the launch of newly restored Ivatt tank no 41313. The loco was formally launched into traffic after a two year restoration by the workshop team at Cranmore for the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. 41313 will spend the next couple of months running in before it heads off to its home on the IoWSR. The loco was joined by fellow IoWSR owned Ivatt No 46647 (which is on 10 year loan to the East Somerset), double heading at points during the day. Unfortunately they were unable to run in bunker to tender formation due to an issue with connecting the brake pipes.
I work at the isle of Wight steam railway and we can't wait for the delivery of this wonderful beast
Fantastic video, well done
BR 41313 should visit the Spa valley railway, Tunbridge Wells West to Eridge via High rocks and Groombridge. They only have their Green UGLY steam engine in usable condition.
Awesome, BR 41313 in full steam. launch day
Nice vid. Was it you I spoke to at flax bourton this morning?
+swearingkevo not me I'm afraid!
Awesome video mate : ) Great to see 41313 launch into service and I look forward to see it in action on the Isle of Steam Railway very soon. One interesting question, what do you think of a gathering of four 2MT tanks in a few years time and which railway would it take place?
I understand it will be going back to the IOW directly its schedule of operations at Cranmore is done. It will then be "winterised" . The debut alongside 41298 will be next year
If a gathering of all 2mt tanks would happen I reckon it'd be good at KWVR or ELR.
