- A short slide-show to music by Trevor Ermel using my own colour photographs taken in my former home town of Gateshead (near Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England) in the 1970s. Most of the pictures are unrepeatable because the original subjects no longer exist.

All this country has left now are its memories
The good old days ❤
The uniqueness of Gateshead the coke works the terraced streets Dunston Staithes the High Street, some buildings escaped the wrecking ball others bit the dust what can you say, I live in nostalgic times
Thank you Trevor. A nice piece of nostalgia.
Loved the photos. The buildings demolished in Gateshead has not only ripped the guts out of Gateshead but also it's soul.
Worked in gateshead 1972 / 1980
What a wonderful 4 minute interlude! Thankyou so much for such a sympathetic portrayal of Gateshead. In modern times, in some ways I suppose it was in its heyday in the late 60s and early 70s. I have so many fond memories of the place. Just a pity it's become so dilapidated now outside the perimeter of the new town centre.
Thanks, David!
Thank you Trevor.. Such important reminders of our recent past for future generations to embrace, particularly our local education community. The new Charlie Rogers book is nearing completion and will hopefully include some of these wonderful memories.
Thanks, Brian. Looking forward to seeing the book.
Shepherds and Super Mac, takes me back. I hadn't thought of Shepherds department store in decades. Great soundtrack too. Do carry on x
I was born in Springwell and grew up at Deckham. Many thanks for the nostalgia trip.
Sasperala shop Saturday morning. Great days
I remember having a really nice pineapple drink there. Does anyone know what it was called?
Modernism took a wrecking ball to beauty and thought .
Excellent it together. Stirs the emotions & memories I guess.,Seemed so simple back then ?
Yip the good old days ❤❤❤❤
Love your archive Trevor, I’ve seen them all on Flickr too. Really good stuff.
That's very kind of you to say so - thanks very much

It's unfortunate that more of those non architecturally significant buildings have not yet been demolished.
