It's a hot bait, but unless you're into collecting, a professional that requires the minute difference in action, or just have money to burn, nobody is going to pay what will soon be considered "extra" for that action and configuration of a swimbait/glidebait. There simply aren't enough collectors, pros, or wealthy people, in the large swimbait market. That's the problem. If it was something a majority of the bass fishing market consumed, like the chatterbait being in the swim jig category, I can see how Grow Design Works could retain some reasonable amount of market share to stay afloat, internationally at least. But whoever came up with the design and originally invested in it will probably never have another opportunity to produce another game changing design. Why would they? Berkley never even gave them credit where it is really due. We all know reputation establishes a person or company in the sportfishing industry. It doesn't cost anything monetarily to just give credit to the people they're benefiting from. It only sours the reputation of those that refuse, especially after the current controversy only confirms a previously questionable bad reputation. Berkley will profit, no doubt. But everyone else loses from the loss of competition and innovation.
Idk man I like your videos and what you do, but I just can't get behind Berkely period. Everything they make is a knock off of someone else's hard work and idea. It's not just the Nessie it's the choppo, the Gillie, the general the list goes on and on. Support small businesses not corporate whores who are lazy and make money off of other people's product just cuz they have money and can mass produce it for cheap.

On another note - what makes the concept of a soft glide (regardless of brand) a gimmick? I know for a fact you'll be able to get a soft glide into spots you'll never get a standard glide. Idk, they have always been something of interest once I started fishing glides more.
My fishing buddy bought a new hi dollar lure. First cast and snap! It was loud and gone. We walked around the lake and it was a windy day and I found a brand new lure. It was his. Lol. I got the first, most and biggest for the day. He caught a handful.
Just for laughs I bought one of these at the outdoor shop today and I ran out to my local lake and tossed it around, it's still early up here for bass fishing I feel but I thought the lure felt great and had great action, can't wait to see if a giant pike takes it this weekend

My biggest problem with the Nessie is the hook up ratio is 0 for smallies Espically. Wish it had a back hook as week or a line through. But can’t complain for 13 bucks. Also snook/ tarpon demolish those fucking things. Have caught musky on them as well
The hook set looked a little aggressive to me, but we can't act like we were there with you. Seems like you had a bad spot on your line that made it weak. There is no way 25lb broke that easily unless your knot broke or you had a nick in line. Thanks for showing the little bit of fishing you did with it. My opinion is that the vast majority of lures are a copy of some other brand, it is what it is. To me it looks as if it is close but did have different build construction. I'd buy the Berkley at $13 before spending $80 on the other.
I think the controversy surrounding this bait is stupid. We aren't out there complaining about the multitude of options out there for regular glide baits, crankbaits, or jerkbaits. Berkeley is bringing the soft glidebait here to the US market in an affordable version with the production power (that Grow Design Works lacks) for many more poeple to have the opportunity to throw it.

I use ally of berkley and i honestly can’t complain the cull shad I like better than a magdraft you can fish it a little faster
Controversial opinion: Flurocarbon is the worst line ever made! I only use mono for subsurface baits and can count on my hand how many times ive broken off in 10+ years of bass fishing. Fluro is brittle and breaks way too easily. Probably a pike in your case but i just see fluro break wayy to often. Milliken breaks off a lot using fluro.
Fluoro needs to be changed out almost weekly...there's not a controlled stretch with fluoro, so every time it stretches, it weakens...pros use it, as they feel it's more invisible & sensitivity...When it's free, u can do that & have time with no job...in reality, bass couldn't care less about seeing the line...hence, giant treble hooks on swim/glides, wires all over an A rig, etc...many others...big swim/glides, rats, all hard baits...I'm 100% mono & change to fresh line about 3x/year

Different tail fin, different plastic, Nessie has har plastic keel fins and a hook clip, Grow Works doesn’t! Also, plastic glide baits have been around ( mostly in Japan ) for 10 years! Hopefully this clears up and thought that Ike and Berkley copied or ripped off Grow Works… they simply saw a great bait, redesigned it, and filled a gap in the American market! This has been happening in the fishing industry since day one!

I own at least 2 of the Baits Berkley basically ripped off. And I must say Berkley baits are better than the originals. The Cullshad destroys the magdraft and bass mafia baits. The only one that might be better is the Magalojohns. The one thing I will say is Berkley Paint jobs suck...thwy only paint half the bait for some reason. The belly is always white. I have even been in regual contact with Berkley about making a 5 inch cullshad and a weedless b4 icast 24 they said it's in the works

I honestly couldn’t get the 7” to swim well at all. I had to put nail weights in the 9, but got it dialed.

Even if it’s a knock off from a jdm bait but it’s a fraction of the cost plus more easily obtained then it’s a win for me.
