Nope, our real estate agent lied n paid off the inspector. There was a hole as big as a football in the roof. The people didn’t leave when they were supposed to and caused me to have to pay rent again where I was at. The loan company wouldn’t answer the phone. This was in Monroe Michigan. They had us come at night so we wouldn’t see it was across from a garbage truck company. The electric was only new at the box n we had a small wall fire after we were there about 6 months. The wiring in the walls was cloth that had deteriorated n was touching one another. Everyone knew this. Then 2 weeks after we moved in, the previous owners wanted to get the freezer out of the basement. I said no. If they trash the walls or floors then who’s going to pay for it? The second shower didn’t work cuz it had no plumbing and drained onto the basement floor. We owed on a sewer ditch the city put through the yard n added to the yearly tax bill and made everything in the garden n the grapes taste like sewer. And the yard flooded every heavy rain. We now live in an RV that the woman lied about also. Nothing at all in it worked…nothing! My husband and I knew nothing about an RV but apparently we were too trusting and drove too far to go see it. It looked nice on the surface. We were too naive!
If you've got a place with as many issues as this place I probably would have just done without plumbing for 10 years or so. But if you get a place at that much of a discount then I guess you really should anticipate a lot of high costs.
@@KristinaSmallhorn Well, I'm pretty sure 'Mr. Blandings...' wasn't directed by Mr. Spielburg. :) But it is a charming, funny movie about a NYC family of four, who decide to move to the country. Hilarity ensues. :) You should check it out - I'd be interested in your thoughts - and how things have changed from then to now. I imagine property values must come foremost to mind.
I loved this movie for how unhinged Tom Hanks was but you can tell this is 1986 because Shelley Long just said “okay” and let the man do/ screw up everything 🙄
