California Games II (PC/DOS) 1990, Epyx, Inc

California Games 2 boasts 5 all-new events, better graphics, and a rocking soundtrack that's even better than the original. The tougher tournament this time around-- especially in latter rounds of Hang Gliding and bodyboarding-- makes the game a welcome challenge for California Games veterans. Sports include Hang Gliding, Snowboarding, Jet Surfing, Bodyboarding, and Skateboarding. The only bad thing about this is that it were to be the last game Epyx would ever release before filing for bankruptcy in late 1991. A bonafide masterpiece by all accounts.

The gameplay portions all seem to be 16-color, while the cut screens are 256 color... Interesting.

The secret to maxing out your score in Jetski is to have a super fast processor. Hold space, and just watch the score zoom up to 65,537 and then loop around to -65,536.
The secret to maxing out your score in Skateboarding is to have a super slow processor. In the long tubes, your character starts accelerating much faster than intended and can start doing corkscrews every 2 - 3 frames, resulting in an end time of 0:00.00.
The secret to maxing out your score in Bodyboarding is to hold left until you reach the top of the wave, then let go of left until you come back down. If you keep doing this, the wave will never break. Repeat 320 times.
Hang Gliding isn't maxable, but it's a matter of landing your 5 balloons, doing as many tricks as the RNG wind would allow you to do, and then landing safely at the end before time runs out.
Snowboarding was the least exploitable, allowing you only to max out your 720s on the half-pipe by timing your left and right presses to maximize height. The rest of the stage can't be completed any faster regardless of processor speed.
