The closest translation for 'oni' is probably 'ogre', since the folklore tends to depict them in similar ways, although like eastern and western dragons, there are some differences. Modern Japanese fantasy goes along with this by grouping oni in with orcs and trolls, usually treating them as a more specific or stronger form of ogre.
That's what I thought. 'Akuma' would be demon. You do see some 'Oni 'in 'Jigoku' (hell) but you'll more often see 'Akuma', at least from what I found in their mythology...
Typically, the Japanese ogre is a race of creatures who prominently have either horns alone, or horns & mouth fangs. Since she moved house she hasn't streamed as much first because to start with internet issues meaning she had to actually go into the studio to stream, and then not so much because anxiety issues.
An untold secret is that when Coco San Graduated a lot of fans went straight to Ayame which could possibly explain her massive changed up schedule as I think that was close to like a 500K to 600K growth from her like original like 475K Ayame had started with(This was all in like a 2 months time span). And another little fact is that there is a small niche of Ayame's fans that refer to her laugh as Nakirium, which for a long time within hololive was considered the only alternative to Asacoco's fictional medicine XD. Also in terms of laughing the most infectious stream collabs admittedly are the super rare Botan x Ayame collab streams that often just end up devolving into just pure laughter and chaos.
@@SahiPie The point of being niche is over looked. A lot of her co Vtubers grew far larger and far more well known. Is the point. Ayame was one of the last to hit 1 mil
If I remember correctly the reason she initially wasn't streaming a lot was due to moving to a new apartment and not having reliable internet to stream so she would go to the office and stream from there. I'm not exactly sure how japanese leases work so I'm not sure if she can move out of there soon to look for a better place that has an easier access to an isp
No fresh nakirium available, but older still does good. Also relating to the docchi docchi incident: Ayame is not good with directions and gets lost really easily, according to Mio, who is very much her guardian and mom.
In Emily Wants To Play, the horror game they play in VR (around 26 minutes into this video) the hint that you're supposed to not look at the doll is false; it's reversed and you do have to look at the doll.
there was also talks about Ayame doing college stuff like Haachama which might be the cause of her lack of streams. also catching her streams live is like catching a shiny pokemon. it is rare but you'll be happy once you got em.
A thing that was missed out was what sort of personality Ayame has. Alot of vtubers talked about this, saying you need to meet Ayame 5 times before she is comfy enough to talk to you. She is incredibly obervant and needs time to decide the best course of interaction. Marine in particular went on a conquest to interact with Ayame. It was incredibly sweet

As a major Ayame fan, I feel the need to answer all your questions. (1) What is Oni? Yeah here's the problem with Oni: It doesn't have an English equivalent. It's a unique monster from Japanese folklore. It gets translated in a lot of ways because the English speaking world doesn't have this type of monster. Sometimes it's translated as Demon. If you're thinking of Angel/Demon, that's Akuma in Japanese. So that's not really accurate for a translation. But it's by far the most common (Demon Slayer "demons" are called Oni.) Sometimes it's translated as Ogre, but it's not really the same as that either. Although physiologically, they would be described similarly. Ayame definitely isn't Shrek. Basically Oni are humans with horns, generally pale in complexion, I think they live in mountains and volcanoes (maybe forests too), they're brutal/aggressive, and I think they're generally not a part of human society, although I'm not sure you can call them "uncivilized". They may just have their own rural sort of culture. (2) What is Mukachiki? Muka-tsuku = annoying, but muka-chiki is a cute way of saying it. (3) Any clips that are legendary that aren't included in this video? Just one. One that's unbelievably famous, aside from her appearances in HoloGra (or as you put it, Holo shorts). There have been legendary events, like her unbelievable luck in Minecraft (th-cam.com/video/RRRje1q9osU/w-d-xo.html), but as for clips that you absolute MUST watch yourself, here it is: th-cam.com/video/aTlXCl8NER4/w-d-xo.html
Even the Hololive girls all agree Ayame is most likely the naturally cutest girl. She’s so wholesome and energetic, playful and sweet. She’d definitely be girlfriend material for many people, including myself.
I love watching these type of videos because no matter what mood I'm in, happy/sad/mad/glad/etc, these videos will always make me smile. From the vtubers themselves to the reactions that yall give, the cheek muscles have been getting a workout here lately because of yall.
It’s awesome that you did a discovers video about her since due to the fact she really doesn’t stream that much I don’t Really know that much about her. Well aside from the fact that she is the creator of docchi docchi and she’s an adorable Oni.
One (maybe the main) reason why Ayame doesn't stream so often is due to health issues. It has happened a few times that she had to take a break for a while because she was sick. Here is a good clip about it from a year ago: th-cam.com/video/5MEkGtecf5o/w-d-xo.html And it makes me really mad that there are some antis who bully her for this reason. And btw. I'm quite sure that all hololive girls are only obligated to stream like one-two times a week according to their contracts. The girls stream more of their own accord.
Oni in Japan is essentially a cross between a demon and an ogre as we know in the west. The traditional Oni is like a large, humanoid brute with horns that live in the mountain and eat people.
"You never know when they'll be gone." My kokoro... March 2019. There had only been one termination at the time, and there had been no graduations yet. No one who's since graduated had even debuted. You truly never know when someone won't be there anymore...
Fan's a letter off. Kawaii is cute, kawai is pitiable (and probably etymologically the root for why kawaii means cute, to be protected), and kowai, with a KO, means scary. Edit: Ohhh, the first time I watched the clip at 53:56 I didn't know the guy was just memeing the "this earthquake is huge, but I won't quit playing (this) FPS!" quote with the "I can't stop sending superchats" lol
There's no "kawai" in Nihongo. But there is "kawaisou". There's three ways (four if you include the hiragana way) of writing "kawaisou", and one of them is 可愛そう which uses the same kanji as 可愛い。 (kawaii) Disclaimer: I'm no expert, I just used my basic JP knowledge and a JP/EN dictionary app.
Thanks NothingButA_Fan and KnowsNothingButA_Fan. Regarding Dohci Dochi it was in a minecraft stream where Ayama had problems finding the way back to her home (i assume you can relate)
Nakiri seems to be pretty sickly in real life. She often takes weeks or even a month off to recover. I remember there was one time last year I think when she suddenly disappeared for a month and didn't say anything and when she came back people were really worried and told her to notify the fans next time she takes time off. Turns out she just didn't want to worry people by saying she was sick in bed.
The original version of the docchi docchi song by くみゆき進 has also some translations in the comments, which reveal that she is looking for her house after returning to Minecraft.
When I fell into the rabbit hole it was made clear to me that Ayame was taking a break due to health issues, so it actually took some time before I looked into her. I got used to her not streaming as much from the very start, and that's perfectly fine. She is a sweet heart though, I will drink to her health.
Am I the only one hoping for a special episode of reacting to highlights and funny moments that stemmed from this year's Hololive Sports Festival? I feel like it'd be a blast. It's a gold mine of clips.
@06:30 At least we don't gotta do 'Docchi, Docchi' again 😅 @17:20 Loosely translated it's a cute way of saying that something is getting on your nerves. It comes from "Mukatsuku" which is annoying/infuriating, but "Mukachiki" is "[THAT is] annoying!" ... kinda. @20:20 😂😂😂😂😂 @34:10 "Docchi" can mean "which one?" (out of a selection of choices), however it also applies to directions, and our precious Ojou can't find her way around anywhere, ever! *sigh* She's explained this struggle in the past, but it boils down to that she cannot find her, she went the wrong way a million times during Minecraft streams, which in turn spawned 'Docchi, Docchi' and the song goes "Which way~, which way~..! WRONG WAY?!" - the lyric is actually "GYAKU?!" which means "OPPOSITE" as in opposite/other direction. @55:55 For anyone starved for a bit of Ayame in between, she does a fair bit of guest appearances in Fubuki's and Mio's streams as of lately (like gaming collabs, even though she isn't streaming) 👉👉
Fun fact about "nya"-ending suffix - in japan, near tokyo city EXIST a rural village with accent which ended up always on "~NYA" That Fun Fact even was told on Trash Taste Podcast.
Man. I wish that Nagzz had watched the 2.5D Mario Kart Stream clip of "Happy Oni." Even Koefficient couldn't hold it together with how adorable Ayame was at the end of that clip.
I keep procrastinating this videos since I don't find much time but I still like them. Specially since Ayame is one of the few that is hard to reach. A update on each one of you made a video maybe would help you to get more reach and to show off how much have you improved.
I'm not sure if it was mentioned but there's one thing shared with every fan of Ayame called "Nakirium". Ayame has such a unique cute, bubbly, fun energy to her streams that this energy is called "Nakirium". So when you see people talk about Nakirium they mean the energy they get from her streams which can only be obtained from her streams. It's as precious a resource as Ayame herself.
The oni-chan is used as a pun in the monogatari series since the mc is a vampire. One of the characters, Yotsugi Ononoki, calls him Oni-chan or demon brother.
this is the one I was most excited to see because despite Ayame not being the most popular, she still has many really dedicated fans and now I know why that's the case. she's awesome, fun to watch and a must protect little demon.

“Small niche”? It’s literally her signature in-joke, it’s not even close to being niche lmao.
@@SahiPie The point of being niche is over looked. A lot of her co Vtubers grew far larger and far more well known. Is the point. Ayame was one of the last to hit 1 mil
@@MJSGamingSanctuary Your comment specifically mentioned "Nakirium" as being niche, did you forget what you yourself wrote?
If I remember correctly the reason she initially wasn't streaming a lot was due to moving to a new apartment and not having reliable internet to stream so she would go to the office and stream from there. I'm not exactly sure how japanese leases work so I'm not sure if she can move out of there soon to look for a better place that has an easier access to an isp
Just as I was about to sleep......Nagzz discovered the source of Nakirium.
Well, Nakirium comes first.
Finally it's Ayames turn
This one is long overdue but I'm here for it LEZGOO
Ojou is like the sun after the rain on a hard day
always cheers and brightens the day with her smile.
Actually an Oni is its own separate category of monster. The closest thing that an Oni is, is an Ogre of sorts. They're more like Ogres than Demons.
Indeed. Though they still classify as a youkai.
there was also talks about Ayame doing college stuff like Haachama which might be the cause of her lack of streams. also catching her streams live is like catching a shiny pokemon. it is rare but you'll be happy once you got em.
Shame Fan didn't say anything about Nakirium the most powerful source of energy in existence.
I really wanted to see your reaction to Mio waking her but I still enjoyed this. Always fun to see you discovering a new Hololive girl.
Dude....she has Botan levels of curing depression. She's so freaking awesome and cute. Best Oni ever
God i really love your channel as well at the streams
It’s really cool seeing the comments for every vid become a streamer appreciation space
Keep up the great work man, you’re killing it
My introduction to this world, still dont know why she popped up on my youtube home page but ill never regret clicking and checking her out. She will always be my #1. Ayame, love her emotions and her laugh. She is the best Oni!
Glad we can see at 35:03 you had watched the origin of "Yo dayo!" which is also my favorite episode of Hologra. Unfortunate it couldn't make it into the video.
The time has come, I was honestly waiting for this discovers
I Hope you enjoyed ayame's infectious laugh
Ayame is indeed cute and you see her absolutely everywhere, she is super friendly and in for collab with basicly everyone. She is also better at horror games then the one that hurt her neck (I forgot who it is, I think Luna).
Also it seems like this Discover series is never ending xD. Trying to catch up and there is gen 6 HoloX at the doorstep xD.
Just a bit more context for Docchi docchi - It's from a stream where she was looking for her house in Minecraft. She hadn't been online for a while and forgot where it was. Hence, docchi docchi (which way?)

But it's by far the most common (Demon Slayer "demons" are called Oni.)
Sometimes it's translated as Ogre, but it's not really the same as that either.
You can never get enough Nakirium.
Even the Hololive girls all agree Ayame is most likely the naturally cutest girl. She’s so wholesome and energetic, playful and sweet. She’d definitely be girlfriend material for many people, including myself.
YO DAYO! It's our favorite happy Oni!
OH MY GOD, THE TIME HAS COME !!!
Ah yes, the Legendary Oni-giggle that gave everyone diabetes
I love watching these type of videos because no matter what mood I'm in, happy/sad/mad/glad/etc, these videos will always make me smile. From the vtubers themselves to the reactions that yall give, the cheek muscles have been getting a workout here lately because of yall.
Finally! It’s Ojou’s turn!!!!
Giggle ojou sama. That for start.
Wholesome moment at end. Well-done both. 👏👏👏
Also I suggest video about nakiri as you demon waifu. That one so good.
Hell yeah was waiting for this
i legit screamed finally out loud when i saw this video finally we get our oni on the channel been legit waiting since the haachama video
Hey nagzz, did you know: The jaguar, the largest cat in the western hemisphere, once lived all over the southern U.S.?
Thank you for the fact
dang i never knew that
Europe and America had Lions in the past.
Did you know: The Cheetah isn't considered a big cat.
NO
The guy at the right smile bright with happiness seeing his princess ojou ayame so cute while the other is smiling discovering the wonderful of ojou
And with that Nagzz is now a Nakirium addict like the rest of us XD
Since reading the title, this is already my favorite episode...
the giggle demon is indeed so devilish that she will takeover with her infectious laughter. get addicted. Get your nakirium~
Can honestly say I think Ayame is the cutest vtuber. Her avatar, her voice, her laugh and constant giggles.
Must protecc.
The best Ayame clip is the one of Korone just talking about how Ayame will always hug any stuffed animals she has lying around during offline collabs.
my daily dose of nakirium has been given, praise be!
I am a simple Man, i see ayame, i click
i don't know much about Hololive either. this is still my very 1st week of enjoying their fun times.
3:26 Araragi from the Monogatari series often gets called "Oni no Onii-chan" by one of the characters.
YEEESSS! Finally a big dose of nakirium in this channel, it's time to enjoy the cutest oni ever seen
Here is a good clip about it from a year ago: th-cam.com/video/5MEkGtecf5o/w-d-xo.html
And it makes me really mad that there are some antis who bully her for this reason.
I'm pretty sure Ayame giggles are the only known cure for every ailment known in existence
"You never know when they'll be gone." My kokoro...
March 2019. There had only been one termination at the time, and there had been no graduations yet. No one who's since graduated had even debuted. You truly never know when someone won't be there anymore...
"Who is the VTUBER Ayame?"
The cutest oni in existence.
8:15 "Is that actually Rushia?"
LMAO
It is finally time for Ojou!
There's three ways (four if you include the hiragana way) of writing "kawaisou", and one of them is 可愛そう which uses the same kanji as 可愛い。 (kawaii)
Disclaimer: I'm no expert, I just used my basic JP knowledge and a JP/EN dictionary app.
@@HudaefCares Yes, you're right, I only included it as "kawai" because a lot of weebers online don't include the second "i" in "kawaii".
Thanks NothingButA_Fan and KnowsNothingButA_Fan. Regarding Dohci Dochi it was in a minecraft stream where Ayama had problems finding the way back to her home (i assume you can relate)
“I don’t think you’d call a demon Oni-chan to its face” he says as an adorable oni dances on screen
Oh man... nagzz has taken Nakirium.
I like how they say Ayame's name. Lmao. Even though it is completely different than mine.
Did anybody else see her singing the doraemon song in that clip with the vr horror🤣🤣
A Nagzz Discovers video with NothingButA_CHAD in it is a great start of a day
Nakiri seems to be pretty sickly in real life.
Holy shit it's another Nagzz video. LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Best part of Docchi docchi is, its actually been made into a full proper official song now
It’s here !!!
When I fell into the rabbit hole it was made clear to me that Ayame was taking a break due to health issues, so it actually took some time before I looked into her. I got used to her not streaming as much from the very start, and that's perfectly fine.
She is a sweet heart though, I will drink to her health.
i don't think anyone can understand how much I've waited for this to happen. great job as always nagz
39:51
"What is wrong (with you)?"
"Stonks"
there is no better answer than this xD
I have been waiting for 4 months.. its finally here.. Ayame!!
Am I the only one hoping for a special episode of reacting to highlights and funny moments that stemmed from this year's Hololive Sports Festival? I feel like it'd be a blast. It's a gold mine of clips.
@06:30 At least we don't gotta do 'Docchi, Docchi' again 😅
@17:20 Loosely translated it's a cute way of saying that something is getting on your nerves. It comes from "Mukatsuku" which is annoying/infuriating, but "Mukachiki" is "[THAT is] annoying!" ... kinda.
@20:20 😂😂😂😂😂
@34:10 "Docchi" can mean "which one?" (out of a selection of choices), however it also applies to directions, and our precious Ojou can't find her way around anywhere, ever!
NNN is actually No Nakirium November, makes sense why she didn't stream this month
Docchi docchi 3 hours is legendary, Ayame did many collabs outside her account with holomem, you can see that in mio subaru korone fubuki youtube
Fun fact about "nya"-ending suffix - in japan, near tokyo city EXIST a rural village with accent which ended up always on "~NYA"
That Fun Fact even was told on Trash Taste Podcast.
Naggz is about to turn to a life of the greatest drug, Nakirium
To be precise, Ononoki calls Araragi Oni no Onii-chan.
Her individual skill as an apex player is amazing, her aim is goooood.
glad to finally see the ayame video, our precious oni
this is the one I was most excited to see because despite Ayame not being the most popular, she still has many really dedicated fans and now I know why that's the case. she's awesome, fun to watch and a must protect little demon.
I see Ayame i click like
damn.. missed opportunity... this was a great way to showcase the alarm incident with Korone and Ayame
damn i got surprised with the sudden monogatari reference with the onee-chan and oni-chan word play
4:59 The first thing I said was literally "Sagittarius?"
Im glad I was right.
