coconut spuds candy | re run | Aussie girl can cook

  • today is S.A recipes day and to kick off one of my favorite candy as a kid. recipe written below.
    20 cm square cake tin with baking paper
    2 and 1/3 cups icing sugar sifted
    1/4 tea spoon cream of tartar
    3 and 1/2 cups dessicated coconut
    395g can sweetened condensed milk you need the good brand for these
    1 tea spoon vanilla extract
    cocoa powder to roll them in
    store in fridge covered up to 2 weeks

    My grandma used to make these n after dinner mint slice for the masonic lodge dinner desert every Wednesday night. 😊😊

    They were very popular in Vic as well. It's a shame that they aren't made correctly any more... In fact I haven't seen them in SA either😢😢😢

    I used to make these for my family when I lived in outback QLD .. they used to love them but I used to make mine a little smaller. 🥰🩷
