2 Irish sailor songs -- old OS autoharp instrumental

- In both my last videos presenting my at least 35 years old Appalachian OS 45 C/R, all the featured tunes are in 3/4 time. However, I think to really make good for essentially neglecting this 'harp for more than 30 years, there are also tunes in 4/4 time needed (grin). So today I recorded in the late rainy Sunday morning a couple more tunes from my standard repertoire:
1. The Leaving of Liverpool -- key of G
2. The Holy Ground -- key of C/F/Bb (it's a chromatic 'harp, isn't it?!)
I am well aware that these are actually rather mournful songs lamenting the sailor's need of having to leave the loved ones and the home ground behind. But my fingers tend to speed up on these tunes -- maybe influenced by listening to too much Bluegrass (or to the way my TH-cam pal Charlie Pratt -- cf. e.g. • GIPSY WOMAN - DON WILL... -- speeds his songs). :)

This is really nice, thanks for sharing! Good to know that a vintage OS can sound nice 🙂
I simply cannot stop listening to this video.
Absolutely Beautiful! I love these old tunes...well done Ziggy! ♥ (I'll have to let my fingernails grow out, I do love the sound of the harp without using picks at times) :)
Never mind my facial expression! I really have fun playing my autoharp, even if it looks painful. :)
ZiggyHarpdust I love these pieces.
This is the best autoharp video I've seen. I just found one at an antique store not knowing what it was and I thought it was pretty neat. Your playing is inspiring and absolutely wonderful!
Hi, Ziggy! I'm just sitting here, and I'm looking at your past performances, and I'm enjoying them very much! Lovely! I hope all is well with you, my friend! Peace and joy, Charlie
Hello Ziggy i love the leaving of Liverpool I am going yo try and play that . You play it so lovely . The last owner of my harp plays it I was in the audience when it was recorded Look up Pete Sayers at Snape maltings Poor Pete died in 2005 A good friend of mine My younger brother Gerry Hale played in his band . you can find him on TH-cam too
Thank you, Bob, for pointing me to Pete Sayers' performance. I think it is th-cam.com/video/2AswYYnYwwQ/w-d-xo.html what you refer to.
Meanwhile I've been also watching and listening to several videos featuring Gerry Hale. It seems he is living in Australia, isn't he?
Wonderful! Straight into the heart...
this is beautiful!
nice...
Awesome, Ziggy! I sure enjoyed, and it is so nice when you play in the "Charlie Pratt"-style....played a bit faster! In my case, it's probably a "lot" faster! Ha! Ha! THANK YOU very much for mentioning that, my friend, Ziggy! I like your playing so much!
Deine "alte" Autoharp war Dir eine treue Gefährtin gewesen, es klingt nach Abschied! Diese letzten Aufnahmen gefallen mir gut. Bye-bye.....
