I think going bigger already defeats the purpose. I mean at that size, just have it on a stand and use a dual sense. I have a D9 myself, and I'm using an old samsung 8 inch tablet on it which is probably the sweet spot
Yes even better is playing it on a mac with PS5 controller. You will kill the immersion in the name of portability. AAA games in such a small screen is strict no no for me.
I love my Portal and tend to use my wired Turtle Beach headset which works perfectly. I've never had anything other than minor hiccups when streaming on the Portal, the screen while not 4k or OLED the quality is stunning and having the Dualsense features is great to have portably. The battery is a bit funny but you can always alter the intensity of your Dualsense to increase the roughly 7 hour battery it also utilises the PlayStation PULSE Elites, PlayStation Link Technology so it's easy to pair too.
@@ThisIsBrianK_ I regrettably paid £40 over asking but realistically I'd do it again, what a great piece of kit, it runs so much better than you'd believe.
I have enjoyed my Backbone controller for PS streaming and because it’s agnostic I can use it for iOS or other services as well. The portal is interesting in that the controller itself is a great replica of the Dualsense but I don’t know if it’s $200 interesting. This video made me still feel good about the backbone controller I have.
It's definitely worth it, it's compatibility with the PlayStation alone is lightning fast and as you said replicating the Dualsense gives you that true gaming experience.
Great video I already own a D8 was thinking about gettin a D9 just cuz it looks like a ps5 controller I will make my purchase thanks to ur excellent review
Thank you for watching, and I’m glad you found it helpful. Please report back after you receive and try it out yourself. I’d be interested in hearing not only your thoughts on the d9 but how it compares to the d8.
The device is interesting, I myself use a D8+tab s7. But I believe that holding a large tablet with your hands during long gaming sessions will be uncomfortable. A stand is needed, at which the sense of D9 escapes me
The large iPad Pro is too heavy for extend game play. A neat novelty but not a long term solution. I find an IPad 9.7 inch air to be alright to hold, you just have to find the right area to grab the ipad with the grip. I find getting the top of the ipad screen to be closer to top of the controller to be more comfortable. I think you want your hands to be at least in the middle of the ipad or device you are using, not the grip itself. Thanks for watching.
A question please , I would like to clarify this: When you connect the D9 to your tablet (android if you have chance, or at least your ios feedback) XCLOUD - R1 Mode + Home (Xbox Mode) - O Mode + Home (PS4 Mode) And check if in both cases the D9 Rumbles or not...could you check It please ??? Also, you said that you use PS remote play app, the Official, in (D9 in PS4 Mode ) in this case does the D9 Rumble? Or, does the tablet /phone Rumble?? I know that with Chiaki (Chiaki Up in PlayStore ) and PsPlay app , have Rumble support, but the tablet or phone IS which Rumbles and not the controller (better then nothing) If you can also confirm me this in Ps Remote Play App would be great as well, I appreciate your invaluable support man, wishing your answer !!
Unfortunately rumble is not supported in 3rd party apps at this time. I have only checked iOS but from what I read the same is true for android. This is the case with PS remote play. There are some native iOS games that have rumble. A large ipad with the sound turned up does allow you to feel the sound, but it definitely not a rumble feedback experience. Thanks for watching.
I don’t have a link as the page I bought from is no longer active. I did buy from AliExpress and there are a lot of posts for it, some as low as $25. If you dont want to deal with aliexpress Amazon has a listing for $49. Thanks for watching.
Hold the home button for a longer time. It take more time then you would think to turn it off. Also it will auto shutdown after an extended period time after it looses connection.
It’s a 400mAh battery, so I get about 4 hours of play before charging. It charges fast which is good. I wish that it held a longer charge. The controller also has a long wait period to shutdown after losing connection to the paired device, which doesn’t help the battery life.

This is exactly what I've been looking for to attach to my Galaxy Tab S7+ for Xbox streaming and emulation. Great video!
Interesting proof of concept with a ps5 style clip on controller. Definitely works for those that already have a capable device
like a cellphone

I hope he didn’t put the portal back in the box, but rather sell it on ebay, it’s impossible to find these things.

4:15 you can get a usb c to usb c cable and get a right angle usb c adapter to connect the controller to your smart phone via cable for less latency.
I have confirmed that wired will not work for PS remote Play. It does work for Xbox and Android play
The hall triggers are great for some gamecube emulation.

IF sony one day would let PS Portal connect to the "media"-part instead of only the gaming part on PS5, I would consider it worth the 200$ 😉
The D9 is Portal cousin 😅

Does it work with remote play ps5 games and android?
It has pairing options for android. Unfortunately I don’t have access to an android device at the moment to check.
Can this fit a 12.4" display tab?
It barely fits my iPad Pro 12.9”. So that’s about the limit of size of tablet it will fit.
my gyro is stuck on when i pair to standard android mode.. is there a way to turn it off

The reason i didn't buy it is because the bluetooth earphones .Its total nonsense.
When asking this price for a limited use device, you shouldn’t be giving the customer a reason not to buy. Especially for a very common feature.
