In all honesty, The Corridor Cast is the only podcast I find myself consistently coming back to watch/ listen to. Always something interesting to hear about!
I've got to say Clint's story, and especially Sam's and Jake's reflections on it really hit home. Two and a half years ago a car took me off my motorcycle and left me a paraplegic. I've had a lot of time to reflect on what happened. I've been able to identify the MULTIPLE choice points that lead up to the incident where things could have gone differently, but didn't. And I honestly believe that if I didn't have the people around me that I do, I probably wouldn't have survived. Very touching guys.
I definitely understood what Clint was saying about the news, religion, politics, and his confusion. That part was very relatable for me. This episode of the podcast was great (just like all the other ones).
You CAN choose where in the army you want to be, but it depends on the results of your aptitude test. My friend waited 3 months to get into school for what he does now and he chose that path.

By the way, you guys were discussing the idea of a one-world-order and the “mark of the beast.” Not sure if you were aware but there you have it.
The mark of the beast is exactly what came to mind when they were talking about the cybernetic implants and requiring them in order to be a fully functioning member of society. I'd personally be strongly opposed. Also, as a computer science major, I can say that there's plenty of real dangers to cybernetic implants that people don't seem to consider. For instance, hackers getting access to it, using exploits to short it and kill people or take control of someone's body/mind. Jake was saying "...So long as there's a way to turn it off," but when we can't even guarantee that our phones aren't being tapped by Apple, Samsung, or our own governments even when turned off (Fun fact: the government can listen in on your phone even when it's powered down unless you take the battery out), how do we guarantee that a cybernetic implant that interfaces with the human brain can't be tapped into the same way?
I enjoy these podcasts a lot and I am going to throw an idea. Since Sam is also a fan of Dungeons and Dragon, you can try to invite Matt Mercer and Critical role to your podcast. They are also in LA.

I'm not intrinsically against ads. They are incredibly important to society. I'm against the invasive and secretive tacticts that companies have been using to curate those ads. It has gotten to the point that I actively ignore ads. I downloaded a web browser that blocks ads everywhere and prevents ad agencies like Facebook, Amazon, and Google from fingerprinting me. I'll listen to your audible plug, but I'll skip everything else.
First, shout out to Jake for that great WW1 analogy) Regarding information, extreme opinions and conflict: that comes not from the modern media's accessability to anyone, but from Internet giving you EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT. Clint is absolutely right, people don't want to be contradicted, ever. Google search engine knows it. So basically it always confirms that your opinion is right, that it is shared by other people, etc. It's ultimate confirmation bias. For example: imagine you were dissatisfied with SW The Last Jedi. Modern search algorithms are amazing at judging what you want to see on the Internet, and you don't want to see people praising the Last Jedi and explaining that it was actually a great film and insinuating that you are a chauvenistic insecure nerd who don't owns SW (no offence meant to anyone, just hyperbolating to make a point). You don't want to see that information, so Google won't show it to you after it gets that data. And that (lack of alternative opinions readily available to you) would reinforce your belief that TLJ was a bad film whether it is true or not. And that mechanism works for all opinions and beliefs, even the crazy ones. Internet only gives you what you search for. Previously, if you got crazy, you could only rely on the voices in your head telling you that you are right. Now you can rely on thousands and millions of equally crazy people all over the world telling you you're right. And crazy ususally aren't the most tolerant of people.

I am a junior in high school right now. It seems like all the juniors, seniors and some teachers agree that each time a new class come to the high school it is worse and worse. This shift seems to be around the coming forth of social media being present with 5-8th graders. It seems like everyone that is a freshman feels the need to have a girlfriend (yes even the complete nerds) I believe this is just caused by the fantasy of everyone that is cool is in a relationship.
wont matter cause in the next 20 years all the freshmen will be having sex with virtual girlfriends they custom create themselves in hyper realistic vr and wont want to have any real girlfriends at all. dark times are ahead of us

Here's a few more hypotheses on this subject for your consideration: 1. Social media hasn't changed us. Social media has exposed us for the people we truly are. We are shining a light on the shadows, going through things that need to be exposed (ex. Me Too) 2. Not everyone's opinion is valid, but we can learn to respect everyone's freedom to have any opinion. The trap here is if we judge the unpopular opinion. That will only make you vulnerable to the judgement of others. What you put out is what you get back. How hard you put out, is how hard you get back. Simple physics. 3. Just because drama attracts attention and makes money, it doesn't mean it will lead to happiness. It just indicates what most people like to consume for energy. 4. The business model of the news / media outlets is to create content that the masses want to consume. If the masses derive energy from consuming hate, the news will continue to disasters and shocking news as newsworthy because that content pays the bills. The news will put out more positive news if the masses want to start consuming positivity. 4. Hate is louder because when you're in pain it's what you do - you complain. We can better understand this if we have empathy for the hater, in the way one has empathy for an angry dog with a swollen tooth. You're not yourself when you're hungry or angry. It's the same thing. We weren't born to hate. 5. Hate is currently more popular among the masses. Most of Earth's level of consciousness derive energy from negativity (conflict, revenge give most people energy ex. movies like Pulp Fiction) 6. There have been worse things than hate and an expression of negativity. If you live in a war-ridden country, the feeling of hopelessness and indifference pales in comparison to the feeling of rising up, rioting, and shutting down a corrupt government (ex. Slavery and fear dominated Medieval times. We call it the Dark Ages for a reason). 7. In the future, war will be as unacceptable as we currently view slavery in North America. Peace will be as important as our regard for our freedoms. 8. With the rise of the internet and better living conditions, we are learning from each other at a faster rate than ever. Some of us are better off, some of us worse off. Judgement is louder at scale, but equally met with a growing movement of self-awareness and respect (ex. Gary Vaynerchuk, Levels of Energy by Frederick Dodson). 9. Most of us are transitioning from negativity into positivity. Earth's level of consciousness has risen because of the internet. With this shift, we will see new ideas and our capability to responsibly use technology like "cybernetic implants." 10. There has not been a better time in this century for most people in North America to be alive and do what you want to do, especially if you're reading this comment. Pro tip I've learned: it's easy to ascend our need for validation if we stop consuming praise. If you can't let go of the need for praise, you'll always internalize the negative. Everyone decides whether or not they'd like to ascend or descend on their level of consciousness. We can do our part to help our fellow human ascend by spreading the word. I, really enjoyed this podcast, and as someone who is a part of the younger age right now, i have to say, i think social media and all of that was very useful in middle school because, i now don't really care about bullying, and i am able to share my opinion with out fear.
Its really funny the starting story about Clint and the recruiter sounds very similar to my experience with talking with a recruiter at the end of high school.

For the people wanting to come back to the podcasts to share a specific part with someone, it might be handy to have some basic timestamps for the topics touched on in each episode.
I'd say on the social media topic, in my opinion it's all to do with that ease at which it's possible to interact with a large amount of people without coming across someone with a different view, in the past each person had a relatively small range of communication so they'd struggle to find people to back them up, now all the idiots can band together, they have a better ability to force their ideas on others.
I used to live literally a block away from the rock store. Anyways, my friend was trying to run the snake in his 2008 Honda Civic and smashed into a wall on the way down. Luckily he wasn't hurt, but it was terrifying to hear about and his car was wrecked.
Honestly putting a microchip in my brain to let me do more stuff would be great, I’ve kinda dreamed of that for a while and based a school project on it too. There are probably a lot of downsides to it but hey, I’m willing to try it out once it’s been tested and ready.

Learning languages, new skills, math, etc etc is very good for brain health. If you take away the need to really learn and memorize information I could see there being some very serious unintended consequences for both physical and mental health

With all the photo editing that's been going on for years, it creates a really un-healthy self-image for not only those who look at edited photos, but also for those who feel inadequate enough to need to edit their own photos. That plus all the like whoring and attention-seeking just makes social media a really toxic and fake place to live your life through.

About politics, i think americans should come look finnish system, parliament. We have 3 goverment parties that has majority and there is 8 opposition. All can vote and sometimes even inside the government parties there is the fight what is correct way. 2 party system is you are either with us or against. Cannot be healthy.

Recruiters are garbage sometimes. They'll tell you that you can do any real world job, send you to one city for an ASVAB, send you to another for MEPS medical stuff where you "pick" your list of desirable jobs, and swear you in. Then later they break the news that they're giving you another random job right before sending you off to boot camp. People will wanna travel and work on satellites or whatever their dream job is, and they'll have you washing basketballs in Delaware or something your whole enlistment. Special forces guys can even get permanently repurposed during boot camp if they decide they don't want you for whatever reason. That actually happens pretty often. Others might have different experiences, but that's what I saw alot of when I enlisted in 2011.
I'm around 45 minutes in, and this is getting so ironically meta, haha. I love to hear you guys ramble like stoners, don't get me wrong, haha, but I really wish you would invite some experts into these talks! Smart people have been talking about these kinds of thing for a long time, and it's kinda painful when you guys struggle to articulate massively complex ideas. I love that you're introducing these ideas to a broader audience! I just think that maybe you should have these conversations off-camera and then invite interviewees who can illuminate these ideas, for both your sake and the audience's. It could make for some really useful and interesting content. Clint, I feel for you, bro. I know how confusing it is to feel like you have to reexamine every aspect of your beliefs and worldview. I'll just echo what I said above. Consult the experts. Get some help. There are lots of reasons why so many people (extremely smart people) continue to dedicate their lives to Christ. Tim Keller has a great google talk that actually discusses the reasons why people believe anything. You might find it interesting. I think it's called "making sense of god" or "the reason for god" or something.
He meant doing it regularly where the child starts to identify with whatever he or she is dressing up and emulating. He used dressing up as a Disney princess because it was a real discussion with his wife, but his stance would probably be the same if he saw the same effects as the result of something else
Honestly I think Clint pulled some SOLID arguments when they were talking about the unrealistic expectations of reality when growing up.

About politics, i think americans should come look finnish system, parliament. We have 3 goverment parties that has majority and there is 8 opposition. All can vote and sometimes even inside the government parties there is the fight what is correct way.
2 party system is you are either with us or against. Cannot be healthy.

Recruiters are garbage sometimes. They'll tell you that you can do any real world job, send you to one city for an ASVAB, send you to another for MEPS medical stuff where you "pick" your list of desirable jobs, and swear you in. Then later they break the news that they're giving you another random job right before sending you off to boot camp.
People will wanna travel and work on satellites or whatever their dream job is, and they'll have you washing basketballs in Delaware or something your whole enlistment. Special forces guys can even get permanently repurposed during boot camp if they decide they don't want you for whatever reason. That actually happens pretty often.
Others might have different experiences, but that's what I saw alot of when I enlisted in 2011.
What about the truck driver? Do you know his side of the story? How did he cope with it, did he feel guilty or got in trouble?

I'm around 45 minutes in, and this is getting so ironically meta, haha. I love to hear you guys ramble like stoners, don't get me wrong, haha, but I really wish you would invite some experts into these talks! Smart people have been talking about these kinds of thing for a long time, and it's kinda painful when you guys struggle to articulate massively complex ideas. I love that you're introducing these ideas to a broader audience! I just think that maybe you should have these conversations off-camera and then invite interviewees who can illuminate these ideas, for both your sake and the audience's. It could make for some really useful and interesting content.
Clint, I feel for you, bro. I know how confusing it is to feel like you have to reexamine every aspect of your beliefs and worldview. I'll just echo what I said above. Consult the experts. Get some help. There are lots of reasons why so many people (extremely smart people) continue to dedicate their lives to Christ. Tim Keller has a great google talk that actually discusses the reasons why people believe anything. You might find it interesting. I think it's called "making sense of god" or "the reason for god" or something.

He used dressing up as a Disney princess because it was a real discussion with his wife, but his stance would probably be the same if he saw the same effects as the result of something else
