Absolutely brilliant, full of information and shows the knowledge of a great trainer. Thank you Dan for being so open and letting us onto the yard, even if it was via video (did look to see if we could get on the yard tour on National Racehorse Day but missed out) Some amazing horse's there and look forward to seeing more. Good luck for the coming season...Julie & family
Although it probably helped megan get the job because of her father but she did well When discussing all the unraced horses she said tongue in cheek ..al unbeaten .Enjoyed that piece mean will only get better
It is a brilliant video interesting it's a pity there is not more of it. I have always enjoyed watching the work in the background of training and keeping racehorses rather than just race day. I only wish I could afford one or just visit to help out whenever hard life but most rewarding. Good luck to Nick always liked Nick since his Days at Dave Nicholl's yard comes across as an honest guy friendly guy.
What a stable,, see Dan winning the trainers championship,. Warwick/ utoxeter,. 3+4 timers last year, his horses win well, shannblue is going to charlie hall again 20 lengths clear fell at the last, Dan has entered another horse? Not protektorat?
In Australia it’s near unheard of to touch a horses wind. Hitman for Nicholls has had 3 wind ops now. Could be 4 I forget. Dan talks about “tinkering” with winds here. Very strange, close bloodlines? Over breeding of horses? Can’t be a natural issue, must be man made over decades of breeding?
One thing is pretty obvious there is a lot money being invested. At some stage the trainer is going to have to start producing a higher percentage of top of the table horses to justify the expense. Thus far it hasn't happened. It's all very well riding so many horses out the back presumably on the basis they might last longer, but I don't see that being reflected in long term results. You don't see Mullins, Elliott, Henderson, and Nicholls having their youngsters faffing around at the back of the field all the time. Keeping it simple seems an alien concept to the Skeltons.
