I just got this on 50% off from Best Buy, seems like a steal! Especially with the ability to use full preamp mode. It’s like getting the Marantz 10 / 8805 for 1/4 the price!
Nice!!! I got mine at full price :( :(
Surprised by DIRAC sound comment, does wonders for the sound on my LX305. I really should have held out for sale on LX505, want preouts.
@@justin9855 the MCACC on the LX305 is not as advanced as the 805. So results will vary.
@@justin9855 the 805 is currently on special at Best Buy US for only $1500
Do the amps disengage (turn off) in the pre-pro setting.
@@TrueStereo- yes. It’s actually disengage with electronically controlled physical switch. You can also hear the physical switch toggling on/off.
Great video. I am upgrading my av LX-501 class D amplifier with this model now I thinking about running 6 8 inch ceiling speakers with two sw small L & R speakers
Being very familiar with the 501, you will be having a huge upgrade over it. Even the from 505 to 805 the improvement is huge.
What kind of front speakers do you recommend for this unit for a family room area
I always recommend MK Sound S150
Miller and Kreisel ( MK Sound ) Historic S150 THX Certified Speakers Review.

Good video, This and the RZ70 are the same exact model kinda like the 505 and RZ50 or 305 and NR7100.
@@quiksr20 the difference is in the proprietary tuning. Only Pioneer has standing wave correction (similar to DBLC), reverb cancellation (similar to Dirac ART) and full phase correction
di Indonesia sy udah gak ngikutin apakah home theater componen masih berjalan jualannya..?
Disini masih bisa jalan karena harga tiket bioskop yang tinggi. Di Canada satu tiket sekitar US$18 per orang.
Sweet receiver
Great video. I am glad I ended up with the 805. With Auro 3d can you listen to any music without an Auro 3d music cd? I do not have an Auro 3d setup and never used it.
You can use Auromatic (Auro3D emulation) for any music. I still personally prefer Dolby Surround Upmixer than Auro3D emulation though.
Don’t forget the part in the video for you force IMAX Enhanced for DTS sources.
@@DavidSusiloUnscripted And again what does forcing do? Thank you!
@arielrodriguez6980 it makes all DTS soundtrack go through IMAX Enhanced post processing making them sound exactly like IMAX Enhanced soundtrack.
@@DavidSusiloUnscripted I see. This is only if the content is in IMAX, correct?
No. Even if the content is not IMAX, as long as the content is is DTS:X or even regular DTS, the soundtrack will be processed using IMAX Enhanced processing.
Don’t forget that IMAX Enhanced audio is literally a regular DTS:X with IE flag to turn on the IE processing done by the receiver.
And still like the smaller ones no separate crossover frequency selection for individual speakers? Only one global?? If that is the case it's a no go. Onkyo what is the same manufacturer you can set all crossover frequencys for each speaker
There is a scientific reason for using one global xover. Having multiple xover points is detrimental to phase coherence and phase accuracy. Besides, it’s highly recommended to use identical speakers all around for better steering and imaging.
However, you can choose individual speakers xover when you use dirac live auto cal.
@@DavidSusiloUnscripted for that price I will have my own decision how to use it. Not the decision of a company, it's only software related. Pioneer it self does not offer this function but dirac.. That's weird.. Only offers it all other brands offer this option. Pioneer says no we want to use it like we would, the consumer have to do it like this. It's a polite decision not a sound quality thing. How many people's had on every position the same speaker... Nobody..
@silvio5006 nobody? I’m one of those people. I have calibrated literally hundreds of home theatre like that. I have also calibrated hundreds of mixing studios like that. Plus I have also calibrated more than 600 cinemas that are like that too. That is the way it’s supposed to be done. Even in my post graduate level classes, that’s what being taught. The same goes with THX, SMPTE, Dolby, DTS and even Audio Engineering Society and Home Acoustics Alliance. They all adhere to one global xover point.
You asked WHY is it like that and I have answered why, objectively and scientifically, is that. I explained it to you objectively and academically why. I’m not here to argue.
Arcam AV Receivers are some of the best sounding you can get
@@Music.Movies.67 the best sounding but unfortunately not the best processing and DAC.
@@DavidSusiloUnscripted??? Arcam HDA receivers use the same DAC as the LX805.
DAC doesn’t tell the full story. Just like VW Golf R and Audi TT are using identical engines, the tuning on the Audi TT made that same engine better and more responsive. The same goes for DAC.
If you ran mcacc before dirac and want to go back to mcacc how do I access the file on the 805? I went to mcacc and all I get get to is mcacc to calibrate but the data and manual are grayed out.
Is the app phase control full band, auto part of MCACC calibration?
Yes the phase control full band is part of MCACC. The same goes with Standing Wave correction and Room Reverb Cancellation. Which are essentially what DLBC and Dirac ART do.
I read Dirac does phase and decay reduction. Is MCACC better considering they do about the same?
I find the MCACC to be a lot more pleasing to my ears. DIRAC is simply too aggressive and making the sound sounds less natural to my ears.
@DavidSusiloUnscripted I think dirac is aggressive with taming the bass. I may try dlbc only because you get a 30-day trial.
IMHO the DBLC is overly aggressive in taming the bass. It’s not even worth $100 in my opinion. If you’re using one sub, definitely you don’t need DBLC. If you use two subs then it may be worth it. Try it out anyway and please let me know about your findings in using DBLC
@DavidSusiloUnscripted
Wow, right now without bass control I'm having to use a +12db curve, and while it's tight, I get no slam, especially at lower volume levels. To me, XT32 shined in that aspect of not losing slam at lower volumes.
@arielstereo5484 if you’re using +12 dB, hour subwoofer is set far too low. Bump up the sub volume on your sub and redo the calibration. In real life practices, post calibration but before final tweak, it should not be more than +6 dB
Your videos are amazing. I really like it. I am a new subscriber to your channel. Can I talk with you David?
@@anikdasdigital of course
@@DavidSusiloUnscripted thanks sir. How i can talk?
You can ask your questions here. Or search my name on Facebook.
I experimented with the Auro strength from 10 to 15 and hear no difference.
If your room doesn’t have acoustic panels you will be hard pressed to hear the difference. What audio source do you use?
@@DavidSusiloUnscripted I have the family room open to the kitchen and have bass traps. I am sorry, what do you mean with audio source?
@arielrodriguez6980 audio source: CD, bluray, DVD, streaming, etc
@arielrodriguez6980 PS: those bass traps don’t actually do anything
@@DavidSusiloUnscripted oh duh yes sorry. I was streaming a 5.1 movie.
Best Buy has them for $1500. Good deal
Exactly. At that price it’s a completely no brainer. If you want to buy something similar, it will be the Denon X6800H (US$3K) and you have to spend another US$500 to use Dirac Live.
@@DavidSusiloUnscripted I agree. I have a av10 with full Dirac. This is the best deal going. If I didn’t have 13 speakers, I would think about selling my av10 and taking the profit. lol.
Dirac bass control does a great job with 4 subs as well.
@bigjack79 you can just get the LX805 and a stereo power amp (well below $800) and still make a huge profit.
