Kirby's knuckleball WAS the filthiest pitch of the year, it looked like a butterfly on Meth. If he didn't have to alter his mechanics each time to throw it, it would be perfect to add to his arsenal. And damn near every pitch Duran throws is automatically gonna be a filthiest pitch contender, dude's a Game Genie cheat code.

Any of Duran’s pitches deserve to be number 1. When he has his command the batter has absolutely no shot. When he doesn’t have his command it has to be the scariest at bat and they still have almost no shot.
An old video to be commenting on but I've been wanting to post something somewhere about George Kirby's knuckleball. I wish he'd use it as a changeup. He's the only pitcher I've seen who's control is too good. In 2024 he led the league in hits because batters know he's going to throw a strike. If he added the knuckleball, a pitch that's uncontrollable, it would add an element of chaos that would make him much more difficult to hit. For some reason there's an idea that a pitcher who throws a knuckleball has to be a 'knuckleball pitcher'. That's the only pitch they throw, all game, besides the occasional 'fastball'. In the 1950s there were several pitchers that threw a few different pitches including the knuckleball that was used as a changeup. Early Wynn was one that comes to mind. He threw hard and had an ineffective changeup. Before the 1950 season he learned to throw the knuck as his changeup. Plus a good slider and curve. Started reeling off 20 win seasons on the way to 300. I think there's a few hard throwers right now, Kirby included, who could use it that way very effectively. Of course there's other guys in this video that don't need no stinkin' knuckleball.
Was a bit disappointed to not see Kevin Kelly's perfect sweeper, or Shane McLanahan's unhittable circle change against opposite handed batters. But can't argue with this selection. But if P-Ninja had done a top 10 instead if top 8 then I'd like to think that at least one Ray makes it.
Would gladly resort to pitching ninja over the entirety of MLB Network Also Kirby is the only guy I'd ever want to trade Strider for pitching wise. Guy is a master of filth and will soon own a cy young
Duran and Senga are both nuts, but for filthiest individual pitch of the year it definitely should have gone to either Kirby's knuckleball or Brash's murderslider. On top of just being disgusting pitches, they both had drama to them that the others didn't
Also it is a testament to the absolute hell the AL West is that the M's have maybe the best pitching in the majors AND a top-5 MVP vote-getter and they didn't make the post-season
Duran's stuff is pure EVIL! Watching him pitch is like watching a sadistic cat toy with it's prey. Just go to the consecutive curveballs he threw in the playoffs, just messing with people's heads as they geared up for 105!
