This is a really awesome video for new to intermediate Lake Michigan anglers. Brings me back to my days in Winthrop Harbor trolling kings, coho, steelhead and lake trout. Great job!

    Great video!
How long of a lead for the fly behind the flasher ?
    Does that matter ?

Yes it absolutely matters! With a 8” flasher you’d want to shoot for 24-27” range and do your best to have all your flys that length for the consistency. I have a video comin on a trick to nail leader lengths super fast and easy.

I’m over on the east side of Michigan fishing in Huron this will be my first time trying to kayak troll for salmon and I have some torpedo divers for a beginner should I just stick to drifting spoons or try a flasher and fly?

If you’re just starting out I’d say troll spoons first so you can get accustomed to the process of setting your lines with a Torpedo Diver. Spoons will also tend to get you more bites from small to large fish. Once you’re comfortable doin that then switch a rod to a F/F setup and deploy that with a torpedo. You’ll notice with a F/F in the water it creates more drag so it will take a little more effort to paddle/peddle. With a F/F you tend to get you’re better sized fish
