    The waves like Pedra Branca, Teahupoo, Cloudbreak, The RIght, Shipsterns, Mavs, Mullaghmore etc actually barrel and have pits and are very heavy for their size. Nazare is bigger but is more a burger to shoulder hop on. Still a very dangerous wave and probably consistently the largest ridden but some of the others plus Jaws (Pe'ahi) are more challenging imo....

      Clement Doherty yup agreed, nazare is less like surfing and more like snowboarding, and is definitely not as interesting to watch on video. Not to discount anyone with the balls to tackle the mountain of water that nazare is, but i have more respect for someone that rides a heavy barreling wave than a deep water peak. Nazare might be 100 feat tall but its so much slopier than almost every other big wave out there.

      That's the challenge of Nazare, you can reach 60 to 70 mph on the wave, plus if you fall you'll gonna be hit by hundreds of tons of water. The power is unbelievable, certainly the most dangerous of all waves out there...

      Actually Cortes Banks 100 miles off San Diego is probably the fastest wave on the planet but rarely surfed due to its location and conditions and the fact the swell comes in from all directions being an underwater sea mountain. Waves over 100 foot have been witnessed there too....it is probably a more dangerous wave with its sea life as well..

    Unique about Nazaré is also that people can feel and see the waves at close distance!!

      Yeah, just compare the lighthouse with the massive waves... it's impossible to not be amaze be the shear size of the waves....In a good day the surfer is only a tinny spot in the wave, unbelievable.... these guys must be nuts...

Abs

      Para sobreviver a um big swell na Nazaré é necessário apanhar a onda puxado por um jet-ski... usar colete insuflável... e ter uma frota de jet-skis pronta para um resgate urgente... Sem nada disto, qualquer surfista morria afogado... até antes de tentar surfar a primeira onda...

    Nazaré não forma tubos. Parece um mix de tsunami com pororoca. Agora as ondas do Havaí são lindas.

    You know nazare has the same, or less power than the rest of these waves, for example mavericks is wayyyy heavier than nazare

    • @luismarques9280
      @luismarques9280 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it's not, Nazaré is way stronger and heavier, there's no comparison, it's like to compare a mouse with an elephant, 100 feat waves crushing on the rocks in front of the lighthouse, there's nothing like that.
