I totally agree John. When he finalised the deal on this property back in late 2013/early 2014, his intentions were certainly not this. While I understand the need for The Estate to be actively doing something to generate various revenue streams, this is not it. I’m just thankful that there seems to be a pretty strict vetting process in place as well as a price-tier placing this outside the reach of clout-chasing “content creators” etc. (Besides, who wants to stay in an AirBnB and have random people staring in your window and knocking on your door whilst you’re there?!?) Personally speaking, it would have far better served as some form of base or hub for a local Community Arts program - and while that in and of itself may not have generated the much needed aforementioned income, it would have certainly generated plenty of positive publicity and - more importantly - given back to a place that meant so much to him. Hopefully The Estate will see that this novelty is unsustainable in the longterm and refocus to something more proactive and appropriate in keeping with P’s wishes. 🕊️
