My dad used to drive a trash truck and around 10-ish years ago he came home with a plastic bag filled with Snes games the console and controllers etc needless to say it was the awesomest thing EVER and I played it for hours on end when he brought it home, I still have it in a shoebox in my closet and every now and then a take it out just for some Super mario World and kirby all those classics I wasn't around when the system was in it's prime ( I came in towards the end of the saturn/ps1 era) it is still although being around 20yrs old the coolest game system in my opinion ( the dreamcast being a close second)
Still got my SNES from my 90's childhood with a good collection of games! I play it often b/c It's refreshing to get off the PS3/4 or PC/MAC and just play some good old classics! It's funny to see friends struggle with my SNES games when the current games they play are extremely complicated compared to Zelda or Mario World!
CHINA GONGETYA duh the number is still the same for the Nintendo service center they just stopped putting the number in back its smaller with a modern look
I knew Nintendo's Number since Late 2008 - Early 2009 because I've been a Nintendo Fan since the GameCube and Game Boy Advance Era (Since Early 2005) I even put their numbers in my Contacts Last chance since I still love Nintendo to this Day and I still remember the Number by Heart Jesus Christ it's been 15 Years since I've been a Nintendo Fan
I remember marveling at the Super NES when I first saw it back around '91 at my friend's house. It's my favorite console of all time ...Sorry but I have to disagree. I think the Super NES is the cleanest and best or 2nd best looking console ever. Also, despite being a simple design, I love the look and feel of the SNES controller. The original NES and its controllers were boring-looking; the SNES brought some style and sturdiness into Nintendo products.
+G Ryen Well if Nintendo of America used the original Super Famicom design, the Snes would be a LOT more awesome. I never liked the for little kids-like design of the Snes.
+G Ryen I believe the SNES would have looked even better with the Japanese/European style case. The SNES also was the very first console with L & R (shoulder buttons) on the top of the controller, years before SEGA Saturn,Sega Dreamcast, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, and even PSP.
@@PointReflex Let's agree to disagree. The super Nintendo looks so sleek And if you want a North American super Nintendo to look like a super Famicom they made a cheaper revision.
I remember when I got my first SNES console for Christmas. I was so mesmerized by the new console scent after opening it up. I think I was around 13 years old at the time. Those were amazing happy years. All my friends and I had subscriptions to Nintendo Power magazine and those mags were great once upon a time. I played Mario World sooo much, everyday. I was addicted to the beautiful graphics, sound and excellent play control. I still have it. Fond memories and still fun to play today.
Triforce....haha. that's good. Man, with so many great games, that is a great question of what everyone's "Triforce" would be. I think mine would have to be: Super Metroid, Final Fantasy III, Yoshi Island II. (How can I leave out Zelda?) man, this is hard.....
Good for you man, I got my copy for about $30 and I’d say it’s average price is $40. If I was you I’d peep the mom and pop stores or eBay, they don’t always have everything but if you’re patient you can get what you want in time for a better price if you’re willing to wait and look
This thing is a tank!!! After months of begging my parents for one back in 1992, I finally got one...and after years of collecting games then sadly growing up and moving on, my 5 year old daughter is now playing and enjoying my old SNES!! She's better at Mario world than I was...lol
When I first tried out gaming as a child, I used the Gameboy. But the Super Nintendo was when my love for video games truly began. I've started long-lasting relationships with iconical franchises, and all of them started on this console. Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong Country, Metroid and Final Fantasy, to name a few. The Super Nintendo will always be my favorite console of them all. It's a shame my old cables don't work anymore. Oh well, time to get them for Virtual Console.
Sadly, I no longer have my Super Nintendo. I still have my SEGA Genesis and play it regularly. But Fortunately for me, whatever SNES games I want to play, I easily have access to from my Wii. AND I have both Super Mario Advance 2 and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the GBA. I always have spare copies and I hold no regrets :D
My favorite console of all time right here. As for whether it's prettier in North America or everywhere else is all based on taste. Personally I grew up with the grey and purple. So I'll take that anyday for nostalgic reasons. My opinion
had the n64 as a kid, picked up n64,genesis, nes, and a snes recently to start a small collection of cartridge games and the super nintendo has jumped to the top of my list so far
I wasn't born in this generation of consoles, but after playing both systems I decided to go for Sega. The controller is just so much nicer for me, and although in the UK the SNES looks a lot better then the North American SNES, it still looks kind of dull compared to the Mega Drive. I definitely prefer Sonic over Mario too... Just my opinion guys! Nintendo is still amazing as well!
That’s because the PAL version is just a Super Famicom. Although the PAL version looks the same as a Japanese Super Famicom, Japanese carts will not work in a PAL console and vice versa while Japanese carts will work in a US SNES.
thx for this awesome review,im going to buy at least a used snes, since i desperately sold mine way back 1996, to buy a ps1. ill put it on display for my other console collection. and play it aswell fr. tym to tym :)
***** I'll be playing games (real consoles) for a long time when i get a bunch of consoles. Any console that breaks after me playin then im repairing it.
I didn't grow up with this console but I bought this yesterday and it's amazing. I bought Super Return of the Jedi,Super Bomberman,And A Link to the Past. I love it.
estou até emocionado mano, já salvei esse jogo no original umas 3 vezes e agora eu tenho a chance de jogar na minha própria língua português- BR, realmente esse jogo é de tirar o folego!!
I loved this console... but was always more of a mega drive fan. Had many arguments in the playground about which was better. I never saw this version of the Snes as a kid though. in the UK it had the same styling as the Super Famicom... much better looking.
I recently bought a SNES jr at my locale Gamestore. The thing works nice, the controller was comfy and Super Mario World, my only SNES game so far, is HUGE and fun. For a while I never new what a snes was, or a N64, or even a Gamecube, but i love the new and oldschool games.
I'd buy a classic game system right now if you want one. Ebay prices have skyrocketed in the past few months. A clean system with a few games now goes for about 60-80 USD. You can get a "Unclean one" On Ebay for 30-40 "I'm talking about NES" Best bet is to look up a video on how to clean one, and grab one from a pawn shop where the owner doesn't know the value. SNES Is the next one to go up in price. You can grab a good one with a few games on ebay right now for 40$.
I recommend Super Metroid, Super Mario All-Stars, Final Fight 1-2 and 3, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Chrono Trigger, Star Fox, Legend Of Zelda, Yoshi's Island, Mortal Kombat 2, Super Mario Kart, F-Zero, TMNT: 4, TMNT Tournament Fighters, Super Contra, Megaman X 1 and 2, Super R-Type, Final Fantasy 3, NBA Jam, Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2, Ninja Warriors, Batman Returns, Super Star Wars 1, 2 and 3, Samurai Showdown, Super Marioworld and Secret of Mana. I'm sure others can recommend more great games.
I still have my Super NES system and it works just fine. The only games that I had gotten rid of years back were Beavis-N-Butthead & Super Punch Out. I still have the rest of my games such as Super MarioWorld, Wario's Woods, SuperMario Kart, Ken Griffey Jr.'s Baseball, Monopoly, Street Fighter II, Jurassic Park & Super Tennis.
I think it looks weird too. I grew up in the UK, and our SNES was styled like the Super Famicom, which looks pretty cool. When I came here to the States and saw the US version, I was baffled.
3:30 right there, that moment when you push that flip thing down, I could smell the plastic and the heat of the catridge after taking if off the console after hours of play... hmmm, nostalgia.
I remember getting a cart copier from Japan and renting games and copying them to a floppy disk and then one could play them for the cost of a rental, ha ha. That cart copier paid for itself after about 3 or 4 rentals. Killer system. I grew up on an Atari 5200 then a Commodore 128 computer but I also had an SNES and a Sega Genesis. Both are still great consoles to this day.
The design they had in Japan and PAL regions and everywhere else is definitely more sleek and attractive while the US snes looks like an 80s printer... however it's very hardy and well built and it's controller has those nice dented y and x buttons which I wish we had in the UK
Very good point about the games looking different. I think from the styling of the Genesis game took on after wards while the SNES style died off. I miss it because the SNES had some very bright and colorful games while everything today is one of 30 shades of grey.
@MBlueFlame Yeah man, you totally should. SNES may not have netplay or stuff like that, but if you haven't experienced the SNES, you MUST get one and start retro-gaming. Back in the day, when the SNES was released I was about 6 years old and I wanted one of those so bad but never got it. Luckily I had friends who had SNES and that's why I got to know it.
Hi, I just bought a used SNES, and I was wondering, which games should I get? I already have StarFox, and I also like games like Super Mario World. Thanks in advance! :)
i honestly like the rf out better because you can plug in as many as you wanna and not have to worry about unpluging some other shit from the back of my vcr if lower audio/video quality is what it takes for me not to have to go through all that trouble then so be it.
I got my Super Nintendo from a friend, For Free, and the cool thing is not only can you use the AV cord from a Nintendo 64 on it, but the power cable from a NES as well.
Yeah, I hope it will. The Wii U has a lot of potential - I'd hate to see it bomb. It has some tough competition in the new consoles, though - especially the PS4 (which I'll also be getting.)
The purple buttons slid forward so you could throw your controller at them when you cried out in SFII in 2P versus mode. I was adept in both resetting the system and turning it off with a good controller throw on the rare occasion I was beaten. SFII and those SNES controllers arguably were the best fighting game plus hardware of all time.

thank god for the nintendo wii virtual console. i miss my super nintendo...it died in 1998..7yrs old. hadn't played a game since then until last year when i was sold on the wii for one thing only..i could download SNES/Sega Genisis/NEO-GEO games on it. now i feel like i'm sweet sixteen all over again. altho i would still love to have the old SNES controller and the whoe cartridge thing, but virtual is better than nothing. tip for you all: when downloading off the wii save games to SD card
This is quite literally the best game console ever made. And I grew up with the N64. I think it may be dethroned when the Wii U hits its stride though!
I was an SNES kid, i loved that console. But i gotta say for not having a Sega as a kid when i would go to friends houses that had one it was special to me to play it cause i didnt have it. I prefer the SNES but man the Sega was a sweet console too.
I actually had the Super Nintendo when I was little i love it a lot i use to play mario games with my baby sister and my mom it was a badass system but after that i got the nintendo 64
Sub-Terrania for the Genesis is a great game (but quite difficult.) The music was written by Jesper Kyd, who wrote the music for at least a few of the Assassin's Creed games. Get it if you own a Genesis! For what it's worth, I own a real NES, SNES, Genesis & N64. Not that it matters, right? Right.
when I was a kid, If one of our games wasn't working properly, my parents would just buy a new one. Hell, I have three working SNES's! Two of them are smaller (probably the european ones) and one big ass american one. And two super famicom games (DKC 2 and 3) that I can only play using an adapter.
my uncle has a snes with super mario, the entire donkey kong trilogy, tmnt4, final fight and a few other minor titles. how much should i offer him for every thing?

thank god for the nintendo wii virtual console. i miss my super nintendo...it died in 1998..7yrs old. hadn't played a game since then until last year when i was sold on the wii for one thing only..i could download SNES/Sega Genisis/NEO-GEO games on it. now i feel like i'm sweet sixteen all over again. altho i would still love to have the old SNES controller and the whoe cartridge thing, but virtual is better than nothing. tip for you all: when downloading off the wii save games to SD card
This is quite literally the best game console ever made. And I grew up with the N64.
I think it may be dethroned when the Wii U hits its stride though!
I have a N64, Gamecube & Wii, but I've never owned a SNES or a NES, but I did buy some SNES games on the Wii Virtual Console.
I was an SNES kid, i loved that console. But i gotta say for not having a Sega as a kid when i would go to friends houses that had one it was special to me to play it cause i didnt have it. I prefer the SNES but man the Sega was a sweet console too.
@alih92 go to any old flea market or there is sights where you can buy refurbished ones.
My first Nintendo console my mom and dad got me into video games!
I got one on the way! Along with a Magnavox Odyssey 2 and Nintendo 64.
i still have one of thies and in good shape still playing it right now
I actually had the Super Nintendo when I was little i love it a lot i use to play mario games with my baby sister and my mom it was a badass system but after that i got the nintendo 64
GOOD AFTERNOON THIS SALE HOW MUCH WOULD THE PRICE DO?
@CanadianChronic2121 which i will do hopefully starting next month.planning on starting my SNES collection soon :) yeah that will be fun
Right.
how come you never reviewed the supaboy?
I love the way the Super Nintendo and Super Famicom look.
Which snes is better, the original or the snes jr?
Oh, I wish I still had mine. I'm going to buy one when I get the money.
Ahh the good old days of gameing, from genesis to SNES to even the TG16 . They had something for everyone .
when I was a kid, If one of our games wasn't working properly, my parents would just buy a new one.
