So about 3 episodes in and I’m already understanding why this listener is the way they are. They’ve been playing good for who knows how long, getting good grades, being the perfect, well behaved child that their parents expect them to be. They’ve been pent up for all those years and a bad girl at a party spots them and offers them a deal of a lifetime. Not only do they ruin their perfect reputation for self satisfaction, but also a start to be allowed to be imperfect, have flaws, and have urges that need to be satisfied and be given into. I suspect that they come from a family that practices purity culture and obedience to one’s parents without question. It seems like they never really cared about the social status of their family provides and not knowing who really wants them for them or their wallet. They’re sick and tired of being perceived as the ‘good’ student, having expectations put on them to keep up appearances. Since Cass seems hellbent on using the listener’s status and reputation as a way to have some sort of leverage against them, not knowing that they might just be tired of having to play up a role that they don’t fit into. So, along comes this bad girl at a party and tries to blackmail them into spending a night together without animosity between them, just straight up pleasure, no money, nothing holding them together or in a relationship. After giving into temptation, they start to want that again with someone they trust and that so happens to be their rival. Cass could’ve just let them be, but no, she had to come up to them with the point of blackmailing them into sleeping with her in a bid to ‘ruin’ their reputation when they would’ve just been fine with their face being plastered across the school. Cass has been open and honest with them from the start and that adds to them still wanting to be around her, they trust that she isn’t using them for their money. And since episode 2, she mentions that the listener’s friends just want to get in good with them, lying to gain their approval just to rub elbows with them. Cass? Well, she’s different, she’s not focused on gaining status, but more protecting herself and anyone who wants to take advantage of her. So this deal “enemies with benefits” benefits them both since the listener now has an outlet to where they can be themselves and Cass could actually have some sort of connection through mutual understanding. Am I right on the money that the listener is of high wealth and is tired of people wanting their pocket money? Does the listener WANT their tidy reputation to be ruined in favor of them just being free from the expectations of being a modal student and making their family look good? Is that it? Cause if so, then I’m all for the perfect child going bad because it’s what they want and they’re tired of the high society. Let’s face it, money’s no object here and Cass never seems to even want it without some sort of need for it.
Imma be so honest this you I’ve screenshot this comment because I think it may actually be one of my favorites. I don’t think I’ve had anyone analyze a series like this and it makes me all giddy. With that said I will neither confirm nor deny any of it
@@turtleloveaudios2333 No worries, that’s just be being the way I am. This is me trying to make sense of the story and who the listener is as a person, as a character and seeing them be this “fuck it, let this girl have her fun and don’t tell her that her blackmail’s not gonna work”. Plus, it just means you made a series that appeals to me since I’m a sucker for a love story and this one of the “enemies to lovers” trope makes sense and it works since the main motivator isn’t really a factor for one person, and that’s the listener character themselves. Plus, I’m enjoying this series and wanna see more of it.
