- im actually really happy with the way this turned out
- dont ask how stede found the red silk in this. like come on on the same show with fast travel dinghy? of course how found it and took it back to ed its for the POETRY.
- the seagull here is olivia. she took on the mantle after her husband rip karl.
- I used a free 3d model as reference and sketched over it.
- I wanted this to be a balance between silly comedy and heartfelt emotion in line with the show

Our Flag Means Death! Amazing series it just go renewed! Lots of great talent David Jenkins as a writer, Taika Waititi is director and plays Blackbeard. Rhys Darby is Stede Bonnet, a rich man who decides to leave his dream of becoming a pirate.
this is arguably one of the best animatics i have seen. honestly, i wish that more people would see it! years ago when hamilton was thriving and animatics got millions of views, i feel as if you would have been more than just famous; you would have been a legend!
i have been following you for a while now, im pretty sure on instagram as well, and i send each animatic you make to a friend of mine who also loves your work, but upon seeing how little of people celebrate such art i realized that i must make a comment and i must bring your attention to how great an animatic you have made!
this could be a storyboard for some amazing animated show or movie. your skill shines in both art style and fluid ways of expression! the beginning, before the song begins, with ed and stede is so beautiful and perfect. the red of the scar in juxaposition to the grey-scale of the animatic has me star struck; it's just so pretty! its truly all spectacular.
you're most defintely in college studying up on animation and art right? im pretty certain you are, with how perfect this animatic is- but if you are in college, then how do you even have time for such a thing? and all the other animatics you've done? unless you are submitting these pieces of art as assignments.
i wish i could truly express how much i love all your animatics, from your works on good omens to the owl house! (i loved that raeda animatic. i still gush over it. incredible how we cross in more than just one fandom.) i cannot wait till you make your debut in the animation industry (if that is what you choose to do) because your art is amazing!

oh my gosh when i first read this i literally had to pause and say aloud "I AM BLUSHING OH MY GOD I AM BLUSHING SO HARD". And ive been going back and forth trying to come up with a response to this comment because I am so blown away. It's deserving of a proper reply.
First off, this is so humbling?? Just having someone compare this to the god-like quality of those animatics and call this one of the best theyve seen is really such a great thing to hear. You have no idea how much that means to me.

Calling this a show/movie level storyboard is so affirming for me?? I literally went to the floor and started tearing up a little when I read that. I do my best to maintain my style as dynamic and emotional, so having it translate here is wonderful. The way you described your reaction to the red silk is so eloquent, and when I was crafting the idea in my brain I was hoping it would strike the same chord with people.

Back to studying animation and getting into the industry, your sentiment on this is doing things to my brain. I dont know man Ive never mentioned wanting to study this at all in my channel nor in any other of my platforms, but you just saying it just because is so invigorating. The truth is I really want this as a career path. I wanna tell stories. Maybe I wont be able to tell my own but I certainly wanna collaborate with people to tell theirs. Even if I haven't fully admitted it to myself, I really want this path in life. Im not sure if i will though, I havent really refined my skills as much as i should have and im running out of time. Along with that, I dont live in a country where this career path has a stable support system in the industry or even a proper direction for college-level training. I'd have to go abroad to do that, and again I dont think I have the refinement just yet to reach a level where I can be accepted into schools or a job. I am likely going to be studying something else, because what can I do? But thats what my brains telling me. Thats my own thoughts speaking, and here come your thoughts.
Im a regular animatic viewer so I know a thing or two about reactions to them and imma be honest, I rarely ever see this length of comments in any animatic Ive watched. Like. It just doesnt happen. So seeing this here and having you just point out how this is essentially a storyboard with college-level applied studying is something that is literally pushing me. Like. this comment is literally my new driving force. Youre saying all this just because and not because Ive ever mentioned it. I really wanna thank you for this.

It might even be a possibility to get a scholarship to a foreign university? You would be surprised at the number of opportunities that are available in the arts. Either way, I am just asking you to please do not dismiss it out of hand, you've got so much talent. At least have a look around. And even if you don't end up studying it, there are many self-taught artists working in the industry. Anyway, I don't mean to stress you out or put any sort of pressure on you, I just wanted to let you know that your work is incredible and it is definitely something worth pursuing if you feel like doing that. There is, of course, nothing wrong with keeping it as a hobby either. (And you are *not* running out of time for anything. You are in high school, you have all the time in the world.) Sorry for rambling.

i discovered your work a couple of weeks ago after i watched ofmd for the first time and stumbled upon your animatics on the look for some ofmd ones. and let me tell you that i a hundred percent mean it when i say i couldnt agree more with this person saying that your animatics are on professional storyboard level cause i also assumed that you were studying art after watching some of you stuff. the way you tell stories and how expressive your characters are? i am stunned.
everything about you work is just absolutely amazing from the characters to the expressions to the backgrounds and i am wholeheartedly convinced that you should definitely pursue this career path cause you have more than what it takes for an artist and storyteller to do so !!
so please, if you can, follow your dream! i think youd nail it in this industry.

There's an air of melancholy I've always found in this song that just makes this animation sad to me, then there's the crew tying Izzy up and I'm like okay I'm fine, all things balanced as they should be
I have watched this 3 times im not ashamed to say. Its so brilliant! Ed being so dramatic with his disney princess hair, the crew with their knowing expressions, TYING IZZY UP AND THROWING HIM AROUND IN TIME WITH THE SONG!!! LMAO
This show lends itself so well to animation, i can honestly see this whole thing as a fully animated 12fps masterpiece (not that it isnt already) but your style is so good how you captured the characters looks and kept them so distinctive to the live action counterparts too. Just SO WELL DONE!!

This animatic dragged me into my exploration of this show. After a few more videos I watched it. 0 regrets
Something I didn't say in my other comments but that I've nonetheless been admiring (well, there's a lot of other things! Posing! Timing! Just for two), is the backgrounds you include. It's an extra step that grounds your animatics, and you meld them beautifully with the rest of the scene and the characters.
If you're hoping to be a professional storyboarder or otherwise in the entertainment industry and you aren't already, I wish you luck! You have a lot to contribute!

I think you have seriously potential to be a great storyboard artist in the industry (even if you don’t, indie still wins). Your boards are also animatable too, and this is coming from someone who’s an animator (at age 18 and JUST graduated).
