Ghazal is a poetic form rather than a musical genre because the text of a Ghazal may be composed in any number of musical styles. It can be sung in a classical format with minimal musical accompaniment or it can be arranged to be sung with an orchestra. The words of many great ghazals have also been used as film songs. It is one of the oldest forms of poetry that is still being written and sung. Its origins are in the Arabic language from where it made its way into Farsi (Persian) and, eventually, to Urdu. A Ghazal consists of rhyming couplets which may or may not be thematically linked. Ghazals usually follow the themes of love and loss and the poetry is always in a male persona, (the devoted lover), writing from his viewpoint and describing the wiles and coquetry of an uncaring female, (the heartless beloved.)
Occasionally, ghazals also follow a theme of an initial hope and joy that comes from a new love, such as this ghazal by the Indian poet Bashir Badr, (born 1935), in which the poet likens his beloved to life itself saying that all his wishes have now been fulfilled and he seeks nothing more from life. He compares himself to a darkened earth and says his beloved is like a moon-lit sky. This ghazal was originally composed and popularised by India’s legendary ghazal singer Jagjit Singh (1941 - 2011).
Singer Kavya Limaye captures the inner mysteries of “Asia Lagta Hai,” one of 12 ghazals (lyric poetry) arranged by violinist Deepak Pandit for this thrilling collaboration with the Budapest Symphony Orchestra. Sufiscore is proud to present this video, filmed in historic Budapest, as part of its mission to promote new musical fusions and collaborations across genres and traditions.

I discovered this GREAT ghazal artist Ten Days ago. She proved herself a top-class skilled. In the slow 6 Beats rhythm keeping a wonderful balance and sophistication is highly commendable. Regards. Khalid Asghar, former Controller- Station Director, Radio Pakistan, Lahore. In addition, being a skilled ghazal singer and a music composer, I know the delicate music technicalities. 26 March 2023

Kavya, you may fill the void of Female ghazal singer. After Chitraji stopped singing there is no one in that space that could take this form of music to the next level. Bravo. I am from Baroda and someday would like to listen to this redemption live. Thank you!!!

Wah, O my God, what a Fantastic , Talented & Versatile Singer is Kavya Limaye. I Still wonder & shocked how can such a Fabulous Singer is Eliminated from Indian Idol -13 , before the Finale Episode. Shame on the "Judges"of Indian Idol -13 who are totally Biased. Iam sure Kavya will definitely be a International Standard Singer in Future. I hope A.R.Rehman Sir will give Kavya Limaye a opportunity to Sing in his Orchestra. All the Best to Kavya Limaye for her Future Musical Journey👍👍.
