I have noticed that most Italian cooks use very simple methods such as hand mixing, cutting herbs with a knife nonna style, crushing chilis by hand, using a mortar and pestle. So refreshing not hearing the sound of motors in the kitchen yet listening to the beating of a wooden spoon against a ceramic bowl or whipping sounds of a whisk against the enamel pot. Brava!
I agree. So far I have no mobile phone, no dishwasher and no microwave. Love using tools rather than gadgets. I find the sound of electrical machinery very jarring. Not having machines also slows us down; good.
We have a very big problem with noise pollution. Even a peaceful walk is interrupted by leaf blowers, lawn mowers, construction machinery in the distance, you name it.
Happy Birthday Precious Gianfranco ! What a lucky little boy to have a Momma who creates epic films for the world …but also for your important 1st Birthday! Thank You Kylie once again for momentarily taking our breath away and opening our eyes to the beauty that surrounds us ! 💕from Canada
@@KylieFlavell... And you dear are a domestic goddess ❤, your husband is a lucky guy and you are lucky to have found him ... as always an amazing video.
The rope fence is lovely, but he could very easily climb it! I would suggest something that is not able to be climbed because that is always a temptation for kids.
A very Happy moment for you all celebrating Gianfranco's 1st Birthday. May he be blessed with a safe world within to grow up and have many years ahead of happiness and naivity.
Kylie, very happy to see you, Guido, and little Gianfranco thriving…and, in the time away (the host here keeps burying your channel with their ever-changing psycho algorithms), it is nice to come back and enjoy your filmmaking craftsmanship, as your camera moves, coupled with perfectly-chosen accentuating music, really capture the feeling of calm and timeliness that only living in Italy can bring to one’s soul, very healing, indeed! God bless you and your wonderful family...and cheers from San Diego!
What a special gift for a one year old! I know he will have many fun hours of playing in there! He looks so healthy and I know he's adorable. Happy Birthday to Gianfranco! What a beautiful video of making a beautiful cake! Your videos are always so magical and I really enjoy watching them all! The views out your windows are stunning!
All the views from all your windows look like Italian oil paintings! Imagine waking up to views like that everyday. Just Beautiful! 💖 Happy 1st Birthday Bambino Gianfranco! Sending hugs your way sweet baby boy.💝🎂🎉🎈🎁

I am late watching this but happy birthday to Gianfranco! And thank you as always for sharing your amazing talents with us: gorgeous cinematography, beautiful writing and reflections, storytelling, tips on Italy and interior design, and your amazing recipes!
Happy birthday Gianfranco! What in the world are you eating? You are growing so fast!😊 My favorite part of the video is when you made the cake, Kylie. Heavenly! Especially when you said, "More coffee syrup, more creme!"
Happy 1st Birthday to your sweet baby boy Gianfranco 🎉. I love that you haven’t given him any processed sugar. I’m sure it’s not easy with all the Nonna and Zia’s wanting to give him treats. You are a wise Mama.
Stunning video Kylie. Siena looked stunning, been a long time since I visited but there is such a timeless, otherworldly quality to it, as with many of the old Tuscan towns and villages. Congratulations for Gianfranco's first birthday 🎉 Thank you for your gorgeous films, I really enjoy them❤
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GIANFRANCO. CENT'ANNI!! ! My favorite. Oh thank you, Kylie mou. May all your loved ones memory be eternal. And this I pray the same for so many lost. May ALL their memories be eternal.
You definitely got your workout in. I'd paint same color as the bathroom for the cohesiveness. Plus it is a beautiful color. Your baby has grown so fast. He's just perfect.
I hope the torrential flooding in Tuscany has spared your family and friends. Thank you for the beautiful video and for sharing such a special family milestone with your viewers. ❤
Your narration at the beginning of this video sounded like reading a glorious novel! Your descriptions are so beautiful! Happy birthday to your precious son and that cake…wow! I could almost smell and taste it! Thank you for the beauty you share with us.
Besides a fence, giant can be taught to swim now. They can be taught to roll over on their backs and calmly float and get to side of pool, there r many safety swim techniques children his age can be taught
Your home is truly a beautiful painting. Your hard work is paying off in the bathroom. It's all so lovely. Hard to believe one year as gone by so quickly as your precious son is celebrating his 1st birthday.
Lovely video. The view out of your bathroom window is AMAZING! If I might. I have two suggestion. I would paint your bedroom the same color as your bathroom but one to two shades lighter. Secondly a pool fence is a very good idea I would also enroll Gianfranco in swimming classes now. He's not too young to learn.
Kylie!! Keep the colors the same for the bathroom and the bedroom for continuity. Your videos keep me happy and i can't wait to buy a ruin myself in Italy. May you and your family be blessed always.
The scenery in this was just gorgeous!!! You are so blessed to live there. I would continue the wall paint color from the bathroom into the bedroom, but maybe one accent wall such as behind the bed. There, for your dark color. Siena was astoundingly beautiful!
Just paused this beautiful video to say, YES, paint your bedroom the same as the bathroom....definitely NOT white! When you have 'dressed' your bedroom it will take on a completely different feel to the bathroom, despite having the same wall colour! Anyway....pressing play....maybe you have come to the same conclusion by the end of the video 🤔😄 Happy, Joyful birthday to your sweet boy.
Siena was great and especially seeing all that lovely food and your tips on where to eat! Another baking triumph and so glad Gianfranco had a great birthday. I would love to see the same colour continued into the bedroom as it changes so much in the light, it would be perfect. So lovely to see you enjoying the sunshine and warm weather while it is very stormy in the UK and having your parents around is wonderful for you all.
Kylie! Maintain the bathroom colour throughout. It is perfect in your Tuscan light and provides continuity and brightness. You do not want to darken that wonderful space! I think that you alight bout the rope being tempting for wee ones to climb. A more expensive choice, admittedly, but appropriate for your home would be metal railings but looking at the length of the pool, it would be prohibitively expensive. What about a picket fence. Or the fencing material I always see in UK gardens that are sort of horizontal wavy, and rustic but cut down to the proper height. As this is often used, I get the sense it may not be too expensive. Plus, as it ages, it will turn to a lovely silvery colour. Possibly, though, that might obstruct your view of the glorious blue of the water. Lovely vlog. Thanks, Kylie!
Pool idea - white metal posts with wide chicken wire. I wish I could send a picture, but friends have it and it's beautiful - greenery traveling up the sides. Good luck!
That was mesmerizing. Siena, the architecture, your descriptions, the cake, OMG the cake. and the lovely cubby house for Gianfranco. I can't believe how hard you work and how strong you are. You are amazing. I like the rope fence because it looks natural and won't be an ugly distraction, maybe you could incorporate an inner fence if he starts climbing the netting. All you and Guido's hard work is really beautiful to see. As usual, thank you for your beautiful videos.
What a beautiful video. How many times have I said that?! Happy birthday to Gianfranco, such a lucky child. A very nice and appreciated video on yet another crazy news day. Hug your family, check on your friends, and do something nice for someone. Eat cake! Ciao.
There was no doubt about it baby boy loved his birthday gift. It is priceless. I like the round posts with rope. Maybe rope with tighter weave that would not allow adventurous feet to climb it.
Kylie they have an automatic safety pool cover… And also rolling decks.. So many choices to choose from it can be very overwhelming, but for the peace of mind it’s worth it! Love the natural stonewall with gate around the pool too❤
Oh now I understand, the bathroom is finished but not used because of not finishig the sleeproom up to now. Cant wait to see how this new project will work. A very relaxing and good mixed episode! It gave me a smile when the cake chocoladetop broke and the music the same time too😂! Thanks for a small view in your renovating and cooking/baking and the simple life in tuscany!
Yes, exactly! Still need to have builders in the bedroom making mess. I spent a while timing that chocolate moment with the music - glad you noticed. 🥰
@@KylieFlavell Yes I noticed;-) I hope you can use the bathroom especially the bathtub earlier. Its such a nice room and looks so cosy especially with the great landscape outside! I guess the sleeproom will be in progress for a few months, so maybe the family can have nice chilling tub evenings at the end of a long workday at the property before. So have much fun, you worked so hard in and for it!!
I think a very classic look would be wrought iron fence around the pool, with a clipped hedge on the outside of it, to soften it against the rest of the garden.
Special when you can share your child with your families. It starts a totally different relationship with your parents. I have to say I quite enjoy my age 4 and5 yr old granddaughters and have a wonderful shared experience with my daughter and her husband’s family in Bologna. Happy Birthday!
Another beautifully shot and put together vlog. Thank you for sharing Gian Franco's birthday. The cake looked so professional and delicious, the pool so inviting. I agree that a rope fence will not be sufficient enough as a safety pool fence.

Happy 1st Birthday Gianfranco! Joys of discovery in your new Cubby House. I think the colour of your bathroom is perfect. In continuing the same colour into the bedroom, you know the flow of light. The wooden doors will bring keep the Old World Charm into the bedroom & with the antique iron & iron hinges on the doors you will keep so much of the Essence of The Farm House. I always love having the option to change things up when it's a season, holiday or a romantic evening. Oh, I must say I Love All Your Cinematic Creations!!! I cherish beauty as well & your poetry. I believe in you, Kylie. I must say all our lives are more beautiful because of You!
I have been watching your videos for quite some time now and love each episode you present. I never write but just know it seems that I know you all as friends. Funny how that works from weekly videos. When I saw the wonderful papers that lined the drawer I thought, “Too bad I did not live close by.” I am a collage artist and those papers are like gold to an artist! :-). Thanks for all your hard work. :-). John
We spent the month of September in a villa we rented outside the town of Montevarchi. We had various guest throughout the month and picking where to go to make the most of our time was difficult. We opted to not visit Siena and now I wish we had. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Tuscany. The towns we did visit we would go into the local owned places and avoided the tourist traps. We were shocked to see how inexpensive food and drink were compared to the USA. We plan to visit again in the future. Your videos really helped with our visit.
This was just glorious! Happy Birthday to your beautiful boy, Gianfranchino. A year has passed by so quickly. That shot of him in front of the big door is stunning. In fact, all your footage of Siena, and everything else, is stunning too. The cake…..😮 all I missed was you saying yum….after tasting it, 😂 the cubby house…..just divine. How fabulous that all his grandparents were there to celebrate! Thank you for the beauty that you share. ❤
Happy birthday sweet boy!🎉 I would be tempted to use black iron fencing. Iron seems to be in keeping with aged buildings. Black also seems to disappear as you look through it. You have great taste Kylie & you are very sensitive to preserving, while updating, the aged buildings & surroundings so whatever you choose it will be beautiful!
Do bed room same color as bath room.. or a little bit lighter. That view holy smokes that’s gorgeous that look like a painting. Happy first birthday John Franco.
How about wiping off the loose dirt from the papers lining the drawers then gluing/decoupaging them into a journal? You could clip pics of your renovations, family photos, ideas onto those pages. You would have samples of antique papers/wllpaper/textiles for future projects. I make handmade journals and use such useful things. I think you would love it as coffee table books.
Time has flown because I can't believe Gianfranco is a year old already. Happy Birthday to him. That cake looks divine and made my mouth water. At least you don't need a gym with all the physical work you do, besides you look beautiful.
Definitely tall iron fencing around the pool. I also like tall hedges bc they are natural and provide privacy, but they would not be grown for a few years. Maybe both for now?
We did black iron around ours and it looks very pretty. I have a friend who did glass. It looked great the first day. Sooooo many water spots and she finds it difficult to keep clean. Clean glass is pretty. Dirty spotted glass…not so much…
For the br...maybe a gradual progression...a textural cream tone mixed with the yellow of the bathroom. I think you'll just have to pay with it. Or do something completely drastic dark and cozy.
Seeing your father build that little house for your child brings tears to my eyes. My father wouldn't be caught dead doing that. He isn't a part of our life and he doesn't seem to be bothered by it. We tried living with him and all he did was be hypocritical. My partner's father is also absent. Our daughter experiences so much love coming from the both of us, but it is painful and bittersweet to realize that not all fathers are like that. I am so happy for all the children who don't have absent grand parents.
Baby toes! I miss when my kids had baby toes. Enjoy, it goes by SO fast- Also? I really like having the two doors to the bathroom. Brings in more light and that beautiful golden color, and the symmetry is nice. Fence? I would vote for the horizontal slatted fence.
Happy 1st birthday to Gianfranco. Walking barefoot everywhere is a best skill to have - well done! I hope he will keep it up and stay rooted and grounded to his homeland.
I admire your energy and patience. I have been working on a small old apartment renovation. There is no building involved bit I never imagined that it would take this long! And, just like you, I have to organize, push, do and basically make it happen. You certainly are an inspiration😊 I am an artist, a perfectionist too, and I want everything to look exactly as I imagine it. That is a long hike and cannot be rushed. Thank you FOR ALL THE BEAUTY, SERENITY AND MAGIC IN YOUR VIDEOS, IT IS MUCH APPRECIATED ❤❤❤❤❤
Oh Kylie, this post was so wonderful! The scenes from Sienna reminded me so much of our travels there. I also take so many photos of the architecture and those gorgeous ceilings! And happy birthday sweet Gianfranco! I'm sure he was thrilled with his bowl of pears. And that cake...oh my, what a special, decadent treat! Tough decision with bedroom color. The color of the bathroom glows because of the amount of light, so it might take on a different hue with the side windows, but it is certainly warm and inviting. And, kudos on your choices for your musical soundtrack...absolutely beautiful!
the cubby looks fantastic, the bell? well lets see how long it rings for... lol... masking tape inside the bell will muffle the sound for a time.. your videos are always a blessing to watch... xx
Another splendidly lovely video! Thank you for taking us to Siena and sharing Gianfranco’s first birthday. Many, many blessings to your precious little boy as he begins his second year! He looks so happy and healthy. What an idyllic place he gets to grow up in! I enjoyed watching your process for the 7-Layer Opera Cake. The end result was spectacular and had me salivating a bit! I look forward to your next video. 😊
How about using a row of large planting containers, from wood or even terracotta, to create a barrier along side the pool, plus a gate to enter the pool area. Or you could plant a hedge, with a fence basically hidden inside.
I love all your videos. I have been watching you for years now. I am excited for your Christmas renditions this year, I re-watch them all the time, so soothing and festive. Thank you dear!
Where has the year gone! Happiest of bday wishes to your little one! A very special time…my boys are 24 and 28…time flies, relish these moments in your life…

Beautiful vlog Kylie! Happy 1st birthday GianFranco! His little house is a work of love! What a treasure.
Your cake looks delightful!
You have many talents. Happy Birthday to your beautiful son 🍐🎈
Definitely tall iron fencing around the pool. I also like tall hedges bc they are natural and provide privacy, but they would not be grown for a few years. Maybe both for now?
Happy Birthday Gianfranco!!! Thank you Kylie for sharing Gianfranco and your Mom in Sienna!
My husband and I when we saw the finished cake - “WOW!” Happy Birthday special little boy.
We did black iron around ours and it looks very pretty. I have a friend who did glass. It looked great the first day. Sooooo many water spots and she finds it difficult to keep clean. Clean glass is pretty. Dirty spotted glass…not so much…
Happy 1st Birthday Gianfranco. Time flies. Many blessings on this your special day.
You certainly are an inspiration😊
I am an artist, a perfectionist too, and I want everything to look exactly as I imagine it. That is a long hike and cannot be rushed. Thank you FOR ALL THE BEAUTY, SERENITY AND MAGIC IN YOUR VIDEOS, IT IS MUCH APPRECIATED ❤❤❤❤❤
Sorry I’m super late happiest birthday to the most precious Gianfranco 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Magical as always, happy birthday beautiful little boy Gianfranco !
Happy Birthday to sweet Gianfranco! What a fun little house!
the cubby looks fantastic, the bell? well lets see how long it rings for... lol... masking tape inside the bell will muffle the sound for a time..
your videos are always a blessing to watch... xx
Can't believe how quickly that year has gone. Happy Birthday Gianfranco 😘
Loved the music in this episode…You could varnish the old paper liners to the bottom of the drawers to preserve the story…
Happy birthday GianFranco! You are so blessed to have such wonderful parents and they to have you 😊💞
One of Your best videos yet. Wonderful combination of photography and music. Just a joy to watch. Thank you
I love all your videos. I have been watching you for years now. I am excited for your Christmas renditions this year, I re-watch them all the time, so soothing and festive. Thank you dear!
My grandmother made Opera Cake-another fabulous segment. Happy Birthday Gianfranco! 🎉
