I mean aiqball usually gives alot of info about his hand the longer you let him talk, or not talk is big as well, and you still have a guy behind that just cold 4bet. I feel like this is a hand can fold pretty safely here and not lose much if any equity. Your 25-30% equity at best in this spot. I bet not often at all especially vs 2 players. Yeah, this is just a fold. The more i talk it, its a clear fold. Your not even that committed at this point.
It's not that long ago airball 5 bet preflop with A2o. Airball has 9 combos AK, 6 combos of QQ and 6 combos of AA/KK combined in his value range. So Andy had 40% equity against the value range, very decent fold equity vs JJ,TT or smaller pp, and junk hands which are all in airball's range. It was the correct play by a decent margin. If Andy played QQ this way it would have arguably been a blunder but AK just blocks too much value. Again knowing your opponent's range is everything while playing premiums, and Andy definitely made the right move here based on logic and math instead of feelings.
@@glennhagstedt I fold this spot 90% the time live, because most people won't even 5 bet AK QQ. Hell some don't 5 bet KK. But no, preflop is all about math IF you know the range of your opponent. If you include even 10 combos of bluffs it's not even close.
AK shove vs. Airball's 5 bet range is not a bad play at all. It only looks bad because you can see the cards. Even if you remove semi-bluffs from Airball's range that still leaves either TT, JJ, QQ which Andy is almost flipping against or some suited Ax hand like AQ which Andy dominates with his AK. So basically flipping vs. TT, JJ, QQ and either dominating vs. AJs & AQs or chopping vs. another AK. Andy knows due to card removal that AA and KK are extremely unlikely hands for Airball because he is holding AK himself, so he most likely deduced that Airball had QQ or JJ, so with 2x run outs that's not a bad spot to be in. Also Andy doesn't shove AK vs every player in that spot either. He's played thousands of hands with Airball, there's a ton of history. Also if Airball was semi bluffing with the 5 bet, Andy could have induced a fold and scooped well over 100k without even seeing a flop. You need to assess the game theory and player tendencies, not just the actual cards in that particular hand.
Is it possible that Andy makes this play against Nik because of Nik's reputation for volatilaty? Since Andy has removal against AA and KK, maybe he thought Nik was making a play here?
Who could have figured that the TH-cam comment TH-cam section doesn’t understand how probabilities work? Colored me shocked. PS: in the long run it doesn’t make any difference, you are just limiting the variance by running it twice.
What people don’t realize about running it twice is that it doesn’t favor any one. If it did non of the professionals would do it. All it does is lower variance. You can still win both run outs with AK. The reason you feel that running twice is bad is because after you win the first run out, obviously there are less Aces in the deck now and your chances are lower on your second run. But you also need to take into considerations when you lose your first run out, your chances improves on the 2nd run out. How does this happen you might ask. It is because the first time you rum it you have 3 ace to hit out of 48 cards. But if you lose that run out, on your second run it will be 3 out of 43 due 5 cards being removed from the first runout, hence improving your chance on 2nd run out. Fwiw I’ve been played poker for a living for 6 years now.
@@justmusic2353 True. Also, often times if its a big pot, it makes the players feel like they at least get a "second chance" especially if theyre playing against someone they know well.
