So thankful for the work you do. The context and additional references you bring in really help. I use your presentation as a reference for Adult Sunday School. We have a few Hispanic members where English is a Second Language. Do you have a Spanish Translation for the slides???
Another hour we’ll spent with you two. I always feel prepared to read the sections on own after watching your lessons. And I’ll watch again during the week. I really appreciate all the supporting information you bring to us and direct us to. Thank you
I for one appreciate the PDF of slides from the show. I have always had a bad memory and seeing plus hearing the lessons, with your help has helped me. Your insights have enlightened my mind. Thank you both for your inspiration.
Maybe you can straighten me out. I do not see anywhere in the temple where we receive "the blessings and power of both the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthoods." (I know this is in the lesson, but it is NOT taught in the temple). This is not taught anywhere in the initiatory, the endowment or the sealing, as far as I can remember. What we receive in the temple is the fullness of the Melchezedek priesthood (D&C 124:27-29) - it is all in the future according to our obedience. And even in the temple it is only preparatory: "...anointed only to become such." We have to get something called the second anointing to actually achieve the King and Queen, Priest and Priestess anointing; it is all preparatory. If we understand the various orders of the priesthood as Joseph Smith taught, then I think section 84 makes a lot more sense. I am sorry that you skipped verse 41, because that makes it very clear that what is being spoken of here is not the Aaronic and Melchizedek priesthood that we get in the church, and that we usually consider to be the topic here. Again...orders of the priesthood.
I thought the fact that we wore robes on either shoulder during the older endowment meant that we were prepared to officiate in the Aaronic or Melchizedek priesthood? Are you indicating a higher (possibly 3rd) priesthood in vs 41? Maybe I’m not understanding your question.
@@schroekate Yes, Joseph Smith taught about 3 orders of the priesthood, and that is the only way verse 41 makes any sense. The Holy Order, or Patriarchal order, as he called it, are found in the temple as part of the fulness of the Melchizedek priesthood. Since all priesthood is Melchizedek, we do get all the power in the temple, but I think sometimes we believe that we have all there is when we become an Elder in the church.
@@julesverne4827 Joseph Smith talks about this in his Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith book pages 323-324, and you can also get some of this in Hebrews 6-8. The oath and covenant of the priesthood makes no sense without "this" priesthood, especially verse 41. Also ask yourself why there is no mention of the Aaronic nor Melchizedek priesthoods in the Book of Mormon - they had the Holy Order. Alma 13:1-9 gives us a feel for those of us who were obedient and were called as high priests in the pre-existence on account of our "exceeding faith and good works". Brigham Young taught that all the ordinances of the house of the Lord are for preparation to become members of the church of the first born. That is not what we have given to us in the church today as an Elder in the Melchizedek priesthood - what we have today is largely an administrative priesthood, pointing us to the temple; very important and with keys, but administrative, none the less.
When you talk about priesthood. All Priesthood is Melchizedek. When you talk priesthood, it s the different orders of the Priesthood. 33-34. Is talking about 2 priesthood s. 2 different orders. 34. Period, Period. Now 35) and also all those who receive THIS priesthood receive me, saith the lord. Which order are they talking about. And I do listen to your appreciate you guys. And your lessons.
