- GKAE SKREW MSK is an internationally acclaimed graffiti writer whose name is synonymous with the title of ‘king’ from New York to Los Angeles. Getting down in MSK during the summer of 1992 when the crew was still an offshoot of AWR, GKAE approached graffiti with relentless will-power matched by few. He explains his reason for painting was to rid himself of depression, to impose against the status quo that property is more valuable than life, to achieve a primal feeling of self-worth. Over a period of 30 years he came to represent the legendary MSK crew, face time in LA county prison over vandalism charges; experiencing loss & gain whilst creating a legacy that inspires writers world-wide.

30+ years is a long time to be involved in anything, especially graff. Props on your longevity, Gkae! It was cool to hear him talk about his past, present and future. Also towards the end he hinted on the spirit of MSK, that was awesome. My friends and I used to paint in the Motor Yard in W. LA in 2001, and Gkae still had a fresh spot on the East part of the yard, a Gkae - Fate he did in red. It was up top, giving it visibility from the 10 freeway. Also I found some old rollers he did in the LA river downtown. Glad to see him doing well in 2024. Peace.

I grew up in agora in Thousand Oaks. I was just a couple years Younger than them.

Yall have no idea how rampant the dope fiend epidemic is in Philly, and especially with writers. I know dope sick when I see it. I'm sure he's doing that to himself for the sole purpose of the interview so's to be coherent and not be nodding off and shit.

It’s wild that he didn’t even touch on some of the other major cities he went all city in. Dude was one of the most up people in my northern Midwest city.

@@brandonholmes1144 Detroit. He really came through and did his thing. And I’m not just talking about just casually coming through and catching a few tags downtown. Believe it or not, area wise it’s one of the largest cities in the US and even so I still come across stuff he did almost 20 years ago.
It wasn’t until a few years later that other MSK AWR guys came through again and did the same. Seeing them do full pieces on the side of a main road in the city was crazy. They’re really just on a completely different tier. Incredible.

Great Interview ! Wonder where the interview was at ! Either way, it’s really cool to hear and see how Gkae expresses on how he is thankful for choosing his own path no matter the circumstances or doubts against him. People are always afraid to go against what people expect of them. There aren’t many people who take actions like this anymore, and it’s really motivating to see how straight forward he answers his questions! I’m glad to learn that he continues to succeed, doing what ever he wants, and is also being a strong inspiration to many people ! Cheers to him and all of his family and friends!!

I remember being a young kid early 2000s going through Riverside and seeing the trains with GKAE rollers.
I remenber when GANK was bombing all around my area in the valley around 93'. After a rainy night there would be a ton of clean hollow throw ups under every freeway underpass. My favorite was the spot on the Taco Bell rooftop on Ventura and Reseda

Dang Gkae is being open about being Skrew? And the real name of Gkae is public knowledge because of media coverage from his arrest. I guess writers are pretty much just 100% out these days with absolutely no worries about law enforcement. People may regret that if the legal climate around the practice ever changes.
