boys ... i was in the thrid row at 2 meters max from de feis and the rest, at the left where the keyboards are. I dont know if the people commenting was in the concert, i know everyone that was not up front with us said the same things and now that i hear the video i understand why all this whining about virgin steele, but i assure you up front i could hear perfectly , no echos and the voice was as it should be. not 100% but that did not stop be to bang my head till i drop dead, in fact i still hurt my neck.
+GreManOwaR I was right at the middle front. Sound was not greatly mixed but David sounded great even though a bit difficult to hear . Can't understand all this whining for his voice.

Can't accept that a voice I've always adored since I was young is now so ruined. De Feis is already a great composer and strong personality but he should meditate about his voice and face the truth. I'm not whining, I am facing the truth. LAst album, Nocturnes, can't be the result of an artistic choice. I could have believed it on BLB (2010), not nowaday. The only miracle I expect today from a 100% artist I deeply admire and worship for his barbaric and romantic approach to heavy metal can be his retirement from singing (or at last working on low vocals with acoustic career). On other side he can still write hours of personal and marvellous music.
My favourite Virgin Steele song. Since last several years, they have become overly epic/symphonic......need the Virgin Steele of "The marriage of heaven and hell"days back!
I read somewhere that he has problem with his vocals since 2011-2012, i saw a live show from 2011 on youtube and he had problem in one song but he sang decently the rest of the show, i didn't see nothing live from VS till this track from a live show from 2016, here we can hear clearly that he has a problem with his voice, the band can retire from live shows and continue to write and publish new albums exactly as david bowie did in his last years, it's a sad situation.
Mr.David DeFeis for the love of everything you've ever accomplished (by creating such precious pieces and a unique chapter in the book of metal) i am begging you please stop torturing your throat and destroying the magic of your songs(and also the way we used to memorize your voise in our heads)!!!!!!!!
+john plan Don't you think that he is singing like this on purpose? Their lastest album sounds a bit like he is singing here so don't you think he decided to change singing style or has it also been like this before 2011?
+Christian Vestman the problem for me is that either it's intentional from him or not, his singing now sucks!! Sometimes he is hardly in tune...and i have noticed that he is now singing only in low "whispering" notes or in very high-falsetto style, it seems like he lost his middle range at all!! As about before 2011, i don't know, i have searched for older videos of them, but there is a gap between 1998 and 2011 with no videos at all!! his voice at 1998 was perfect and as i remember, when i saw them live for the first time at 2004, he was also perfect! Since then, i don't know what happened...
People get old and just can't hit the notes anymore. That being said the most recent VS album (Nocturnes) was total shit irrespective of the style of singing. Other than that the only annoyance i have with Virgin Steele is that David didn't lend his voice to more things when he was at the top of his form. Age of Consent to Visions of Eden was probably the most amazing run of albums there's ever been in this genre and a large part of that was down to David's incredible voice, which unfortunately now is history.
He has always used falsetto tho, he uses chest voice most of the time but for high notes he has always used falsetto, youre right tho this one sounds bad 😥. David de feis is one of my fav singers ever in metal regardless
