This is a phenomenal idea. I think that would revolutionize the hobby greatly. All card companies need to do this.

@@TheGreatCurator. Ive just been inspired to complete the 2023 Topps Chrome Star Wars set. The refractors and the hits are nice but even the base cards are pretty sweet. Ive never collected SW and haven’t tried to put a set together since i was 9 over 30 years ago.

I actually started collecting Topps Heritage, Gypsy Queen and Allen and Ginter 2022 Basecards sets. Almost done with Heritage 2022 just need short prints.
I think making the fun of collecting a base set is a fun idea!

Not sure about the destroying base cards, but I like the idea in theory of sending out a redemption card as an incentive for kids, and newer/younger collectors to start buying base cards, for years that was the foundation of the hobby.

Hell of an idea. Especially since "investors" poured into the hobby and made cool sought after cards cost a fortune, it'd be a nice way to help less fortunate or the younger crowd get their hands on a rare card without breaking the bank (besides having to buy the expensive boxes, lol.)

Wow. I was actually thinking the same thing the other day! Either this or get rid of base cards completely and only have packs with hits but charge more for the pack. 2nd idea might destroy the retail market though since there are already hobby boxes that do only have packs with all numbered cards or better.

Some packs (unless it's like Target) are already pricing out the average collector, or kids from families that, can't afford to spend hundreds of dollars a week on cards. If Fanatics really wants to grow the hobby 10X, 3X more realistic imo...they will probably have to figure out a way to make the hobby more affordable for low income and even middle class families who are on the fence of entering/staying in the hobby.

I think it'll help control the supply if they can recycle the sets being redeemed
