I was there. Here’s my take. Ddnt race Thursday or Friday because of weather. Squeezed in what they could on Saturday,or as much as the could. Yes,the track was bad. And,after that poor cat flipped/destroyed his car in the ‘Steel Block” series, they called the night and moved everything to Sunday. Indeed, the weather was better on Sunday. Lots of sunshine allowing the officials do wrk on the trk. Hot laps & heat races went well. But,as the day went on,the track started getting rough. “Character” as the drivers say. And,every driver knew what they were in for. And,every driver VOTED for this format. Every driver knew,no matter what you’ve done throughout the season, the ‘final four’ will compete for the championship this night. With that,RTJ broke early. His team fixed the car,he went out & clocked laps. Hudson/Rocket House Car had their issues, they too repaired & continued. Yes,the #1 went dwn a lap,but was able to use a rule that’s been in effect for 5/6 years & got his lap bk after a caution. Again,a rough track,& again every driver knew. JD was WAY easy on his equipment/ way articulate in handling his ride. But,the rough track took him out too. That left Moran & O’Neil fighting for the points title AND the race. B5 was a monster w/reckless abandon tward the end. He had his eye on his 5th DWTC title. And,#1 did too. Y’all seen the video. Now,it don’t matter how much any of us bitch about the format here. I hope the Lucas oil series feels the shame they brought on themselves. They're gonna lose so many fans and I hope RTJ goes to outlaws where real champions are crowned. Championships are decided throughout a season. Not a race. RTJ earned that championship n had it stolen from him. Not by the competitors fairly not by anything but the series itself. Like nascar ruined it's integrity by goin to the chase bullshit. Matt Kenseth will forever be the LAST TRUE NASCAR CHAMPION. Sad to see them stealing an entire yr of success from RTJ. He deserved and earned that championship. Had it been a real points format not these joke resets then he would be champion. I hope the Lucas oil series feels the heat from fans and racers alike to go back to a real fair points system like the outlaws and have some integrity. After they stole a clear championship from RTJ who dominated the season I hope enough fans raise an uproar about it that they see they messed up big and are gonna lose so many fans over the points deal that they're forced to change it back to being a fair system that rewards the driver who earned it throughout the yr not hung on for the last race n only won cause of a points reset. There will forever be an asterisk beside this yrs champ that will stain the reputation of both Lucas oil and this yrs champ cause they both know deep down it was wrong and RTJ is the champ
I'm sorry you weren't aware of the championship points format until the very last race of the year. This was the most exciting race of the year and the best DTWC in years. Everyone knows that RTJ choked when it mattered, and the best part is that it was all his fault - got too close to Moran, picked up an aero push, and hit Owens.
Maybe he shouldn't have been making that move on lap 8 when there was so much on the line...
_Would yaw have rather them just crown the champ with the most Points and run the last race just like any other race or the way they did it_ _let me know in the comment section_
Good race but crappy track congratulations to oneal I hope Tony changes that track this winter
Gimmick. Good race beside that. Stop trying to be a gimmick like nascar.
Out of fuel, please put down the Crack pipe
I Hate Eldora. I think it gets worse and worse every year.
