    Appreciate this video. Just ordered my HEQ5 tonight and your videos have been great for walking me through what my setup and Star alignment should be. Great videos.

      It’s amazing just how much more sturdy it is than the Star Adventurer. Can’t wait to get this under some clear skies!

    Ahhh mate! About 3 weeks ago I drove a couple hundred miles to pick one of these up used , it came with a 200p Newtonian but it’s been cloudy ever since ! The telescope is awesome but it’s super awkward to handle , have been considering trying to swap it for a smaller refractor or something - I’ve got my DSLR and 200mm lens attached at the moment until I get used to it all . Hope the weather clears up for you dude ! Good luck !

      Clouds just seem to follow these mounts around! I’ve been looking into mounting my dobson 200p on here in the future as well... internet consensus says it’s doable on a windless night.
      I agree with you though, start out light and easy is the way to go and go up from there! That 200mm will get some beautiful wide angle shots!
      Good luck with the new setup and clear skies!

      I am considering buying a 200p newton with NEQ5/EQ5/HEQ5 mount. Is this scope too much for the mount. I will do simple photography by attaching a DSLR to it and that's all. I will do mostly planetary, sun and moon shooting.

    Appreciate the video on this mount. Just ordered the same myself after weeks of contemplating several models. You can go nuts trying to decide your first EQ mount!
    I'll watch to see where you go next. What you be using for power? I decided on the Celestron 12V/7A power tank.
    One thing I might add about the manufacturer - from what I read Skywatcher will support a unit even if it trades hands (sold to someone else used etc). There's been various comments that
    this is not true with some of the other companies.

    • @AmateurAstronomyStormchasing
      @AmateurAstronomyStormchasing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To me the HEQ5 seems to be the best bang for the buck for someone that may be on the fence with mounts ha. I was the same way... looking at this mount and that mount, it's overwhelming!
      That's good to know about SkyWatcher too... that's kind of another reason I've gravitated toward them with a lot of my purchases. Almost everyone has great things to say about the company.
      Power wise I'm using the Celestron Powertank 17. So far it's been amazing... just be sure to keep it charged/stored properly! Clear skies!

    Hello! i see you haven't posted anything for a year, are you still active in astrophotography? I watched your
    Videoes on the heq5 pro mount, that
    Has helped me very much, since i just purchased one after using the star adventure 2i. And i had a couple questions that mabe you could help with. Thank you

    Release the locks on both axis or you will eventually destroy mechanisms inside. They should be unlocked til you put telescope and counterweights :D

    Hey my friend, hoping you or anyone reading this can help! I bought a Skywatcher Heq5 mount & it will only accept latitude/longitude in a certain format, the format that shows when you google your location will not work? If you know what the correct format is, I would greatly appreciate any help!

    Hey, what made you go with the HEQ5 over the Sirius?

    • @AmateurAstronomyStormchasing
      @AmateurAstronomyStormchasing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd been researching mounts for a good while and kept seeing good things about the HEQ5. I know it's basically the same as the Sirius, but ultimately I got it because it's SkyWatcher. I have a 8" SkyWatcher dob and figured I'd stick with the brand.

    Can you please tell me the latitude range on this model? Can it do 10°

    • @AmateurAstronomyStormchasing
      @AmateurAstronomyStormchasing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The has 0-90” labeled on it. However the butterfly bolts you use to adjust the latitude on it may begin to interfere with your counterweights ~10 degrees. This may not be the case but I feel like it will be close!
