I think over time the "possessive fan" mentality has died down a bit, but it is something that should be brought up and discussed more often. Especially from people who've experienced it or know people who've experienced it.
Everytime I think it’s dying down, fans prove me wrong. Karina from Aespa and seunghan from RIIZE are recent examples proving that things aren’t actually getting better in kpop.
I think if kpop people just start acting like it’s not a big deal and actually enjoy themselves and talk at awards shows it will help. You have to set the tone and expectations for your fans. Don’t lie to fans about loving them.
for the longest time I used to think eli was so boring, cuz he didnt talk much back then, but seeing him now on this show I realize he is so dmn funny😭 looool
what ashley said about fan being possessive over their artist and about western fans is exactly correct, nd i also think idols feels more comfortable in foreign while promoting rather in korea exactly like what suju leeteuk said in his live
Everything you said in this episode!!!!! Idols should be able to live their lives out in the open. They do not belong to anyone and just because YOU decided to spend money on merch doesn't mean you are owed anything beyond the merch you purchase!!! Yeah we can all be a little delulu all in good fun, enjoying the escape music/movies/tv can give us BUT It's weird and gross to think they belong to you like that. I think the parasocialness that some of these companies push does real damage to fans that can't handle and realize the lines their blurring.
Spilling the tea...Preach!!! Knetizens, Kpop companies and kidols....listen!!!! No wonder when worst comes to worst idols spiral down so deeply. Happy mindset gives positive vibes.
Omg, this is so freaking refreshing to watch and listen to! I need more idols to be brave and talk more about this. Honestly, being a K-pop idol fan for more than 10 years, I’ve seen so much, and one thing I didn’t understand until now is wtf idols have to apologise when they’re caught dating someone like !!?!!?!! Seriously, every time I’ve seen articles on idols apologising because of a dating scandal (even calling it a scandal is too much), it’s felt like they did a crime or something-which they’re not, obviously. Honestly, things need to change though; we’re approaching 2025
Kangnam and Xander give me the same unfiltered vibes, maybe Xander's a little more unhinged idk LOL. good to see Eli again! would love to see Key on this show too.
10:34 Yeah Eli, we only found out a year later after their registration... I was so happy for him. It was hard because he was literally the first active idol to do that... he literally carried the burden for people like Sungmin who married a few months later and Chen who had to fight tooth and nail but it's possible because Eli did it first. But U-Kiss really had a lot of members that got married. Eli, Dongho, Kibum, Kiseop, Hoon, bruh....🤣
i do miss kpop having REAL cunty concepts but at the same time... looking back those were being performed by minors/barely adults idols. if cunty kpop is back i want 25+ y/os on the stage please
This ep. makes me so ranty lol!! WTF -Toxic fans can leave, honestly. I NEVER understood it, & we don't support that here! -Apologies should be for actual problems (which should also be few & far between, like companies basically raise some of these kids & need to help them understand what it is to be a good person for real, not just in front of cameras. Like give them solid ground. Because, also, being irresponsible & disrespectful behind the scenes isn't being "normal" either.) So, toxic company culture & industry entertainment (party) culture is also canceled. Someone give them the memo.
idol music isnt supposed to be deep tho like i get what they mean but acting like there isnt a difference between singers and idol-singers will just confuse you more. like when ashley said western celebrities are treated differently than idols, well, thats because of what the concept of idol implies. its a weird system and needs a lot of change in order to humanize both idols and fans (in fan culture and in law/contracts), but musically wise, i think its okay to not to force it to have super deep lyrics. companies are doing it (to claim their idols wrote them) and 😭 lets just say it doesnt always work
Eli’s story remind me of SJ’s Sungmin with his r/s and marriage…. the fact that they destroyed his career is still upsetting from a foreign fan’s pov.
WE NEED THE TEA MOREEEE like, GO GUYS, TELL THEM !!!

It’s just that the SM idols have the worst outcomes of dating news basically

Idols are not punishing bad behaviour. So fans think they can do whatever they want.
