The enclosures u build r so much nicer then anything u can get at a pet supply store. Thanks for the feeding video I really enjoy them. Wonderful idea to sell enclosure kits, people will love to buy them but a hassle for u to package and ship. The glass enclosure is so much nicer to display ur animals. Pet Mica for me please😻 she is so sweet and shows she loves u😻
Absolutely loved watching this rehousing video. 😍. Definitely prefer it to not be as many, just only two enclosures stacked bit awkward with three especially when it comes to feeding / watering times etc, you have to keep taking all the stacks off individually? But it most definitely does save on space though, plus they're all very beautiful, really lovely display of all your Tarantula's, looks better because you can see T's clearly. Definitely looks way better than plastic containers. Great inspiration video especially enjo the DIY part. Beautiful. Thanks Petko. 😁😊❤️👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Put a piece of glass underneath your bottom when you silicone it so that it’s slightly raised. Then glue that same piece onto your lid. This way you can still stack the enclosures while still having separate lids for each of them.
Here’s a tip I learned from building enclosures. Buy some 90° brackets from your local hardware store and line up all your glass and glue the brackets on to the outside of the glass for each side and once it’s all together with the brackets and hot glue, silicone the inside joints of all the glass and let cure. Then you can use hot water or a heat gun to remove the hot glue and brackets. Saves a lot of time for me.
I think using the bottom of one enclosure as a lid for another is a good idea in theory, but a bit impractical, at least with larger enclosures. Also, maybe you could make a jig (a device that holds a piece(s) of work and guides the tools operating on it/them) to help with making enclosures. It will help you keep everything squared up and also hold the parts in place while the silicone cues. Would save you a lot of time as well.
I think you're right, with a few improvements these would be perfect ! Good build, good aeration. By adding a separate lid you would indeed have practical, safe enclosures that look clean and cohesive !
The Idea is great! And I do not think that it is that hard to have all three together, maybe if you could create small doors on side of the enclosure for throwing in food for them it would be amazing and a lot more practical for saving space and also feeding them and watering enclosure. (I do not know if it is possible to cut glass so you can make a door but if there is a way I think it would be awesome idea). Love your channel, please continue, I really enjoy your videos! ❤🕷
I just loved this video, partly because when your adorable tarantulas escape, it's always so much fun to watch how you talk to them and chase them down! I also think your creativity is great. I agree each enclosure needs its own lid so they can be independent if needed, but the only way to come up with great ideas and designs is to go for it and take the chance, finding out the ways to improve on your original idea.
Please PLEASE make DIY enclosures and send them to people who want them I will surely buy one!!! I want a tarantula so badly and gonna possibly be getting one next month for my birthday 🎂 and would love one of yours!! They look so amazing 😉
Stack-able only really works for smallish enclosures, now every time you want to feed them you need to take the entire enclosure off and the T can easily escape while you're finding a safe place for the top enclosure
I Really like the 'dirt Tower'!! You can make Top lids just if u want to Change a Single t House. But in total the Tower is Really nice!!! Mybe add a door at the Front so you can easyly feed them:)
really like the design, i think you should make lids for all so you can use them as singular enclosures or they convert to be stackable aswell, love your channel!
Getting my first T's this Tuesday! Super excited, and it's all thanks to stumbling across your channel over a year ago. I like the enclosure design - especially the second piece of glass on the lid so it fits nicely and doesn't slide around.
Make the enclosure separate, but your idea of double ventilation holes is super great plus you put those holes higher up in the enclosure, but I really suggest you to make those enclosure separately for each spiders
My opinion: I think it’s very practical to have enclosures of all sizes as a hotel with multiple tarantulas but maybe not large enclosures for full grown tarantulas maybe just two(for grown adults!) I was really intrigued and couldn’t look away it looks really really cool like that stacked up! I watch every one of your videos dating back sense you first started I love them!
if you just use a small glass rectangle in each corner for the lid/bottom then you can just silicone it in the right place without worrying about size and fit. also just one size of small rectangle for all enclosure sizes
I think that the tower look is great and the design is good . Now cut a flip down door in the front about a inch to feed or change . But still have it detachable. Same thing just have flip down doors for each enclosure. Make them out of plastic with a lil pull handle . . Your doing a great job I hope my message gets to you . Thumbsit up .
Heyy Petko!! Your videos are awsome!! You make’s me happy on Monday and more happy on fridays😆😆 I think your regular design with the front door is better but keep trying new things you always have good ideas
I think if you can make stackable enclosures where you can fold down part of the front side so you don’t have to remove the top and closures to open it to feed them may be more practical even if more difficult to build and design. Keep the videos coming this channel is awesome
I haven't even bought my first tarantula yet, but watching you and exotics lair has already gotten me addicted to them from being able to learn from y'all.
I would dig the whole enclosure kit thing you spoke of. Could be a way to bring a little more profit into The Dark Den and would be very beneficial to new owners who want to be more hands on with the hobby. As long as the glass would make the trip to the US, I would totally buy some.
You should make the lid so it has indents on the top part that perfectly fits the other enclosures. So technically you can stack them with the lids on.
I love to do the whole diy stuff.... and I must say that I love the fact that you take it to such a great and very pleasant point of this hobby!! I will be getting my first t and I will be building a special cabinet for it... where I can expand my collection and grow with them!
At yesterday's repticon some of us were discussing the recent paper on Aphonopelma and how it should be split into two separate genera since there is significant differences between the Mexican Aphonopelmas and the American Aphonopelmas. That got us talking about things in wrong genera, like how Caribena Versicolor used to be Avicularia Versicolor, but stuck out like a sore thumb. So compare, if you will, the Aphonopelma Seemani with the Nhandu Chromatus.
If you put a door on the upper half of one of the sides of each cage I think that would maybe be a little more practical and make feeding easier rather than unstacking them
I am super glad you tried this out! I thought it was a creative experiment, It inspires me to do more with my enclosures , plus it's fun watching you create too!
I would ABSOLUTELY buy this DIY set, I'd recommend FedEx shipping with a business affiliate account so that the glass doesn't get broken from being tossed around like in the post office lol
you can also use soapy water to spread the silicone with your finger, without the silicon sticking to the finger at all, while still cover all of the actual surface. Just put your finger into a really soapy water, you need actually a quite a high percentage(about 40%) of soap, but not much of the mix in general and you won't have any problems.
It's like a great idea that creates more problems than it solves XD If you want to be able to stack big enclosures like this, each one still needs a separate lid because the spiders can climb glass as soon as one is removed, Ideally the lid of one should fit in the bottom of the other tank to prevent slipping and sliding. What you can do is silicone some decorative molding or a strip of glass, etc around the top of each cage that creates that little 'lip' you need. Alternatively you can use pegs or circular glass insets on the top lid that match the bottom of the other enclosure. I still get the impression you'd be much better off with a hinge door on the front of the enclosure, because it's annoying having to take them apart one by one to feed them, especially past a certain size. Also I'm mildly concerned that as you scale up, the silicone on the bottom glass panel's going to give out under the weight of the substrate and the whole enclosure will plummet through the bottom XD
I for one would be willing to purchase your arboreal setup as a DIY kit if at all possible. I really like the style you did with the "blind sided door" compartment of the inner den idea.
Just a thought, when I build a glass enclosure I start with the corner . Three pieces create a perfect right angle and from there I can complete the rest in one operation . Everything can be squared up before the silicone cures too much. Just a thought as it works for me in one day.
I swear you are the most entertaining TH-camr ever! I used to fear spiders but seeing you with them makes me feel better. What spider would recommend to start with?
You wanna get a 5mil silicon smoother to do the inside edges nice and neat run a nice bead round the edges then use the tool to get a nice clean finish
Cool DIY and I thought about it a few years ago, but I didn't because I was worried they would would fall apart from weight of being stacked. Petko, I would be concerned about that thin bead of silicone being the only thing holding together the weight of two enclosures on top of the bottom enclosure. I can see this being a nightmare collapse scenario. Yikes!!!
Maybe a thought for larger stackable enclosure you should add a side opening for feeding and water. Unstacking and rest a king could be a bit troublesome.
Have you considered using acrylic Marko? It's lighter than glass, easier to cut and you don't need silicone. Just instantly weld edges together with solvent weld :)
I think it would be cool to make enclosures in a parallelogram or rhombus solid shape. Where you have two sets of parallel lines but they don't all meet at 90°. Maybe two inside angles at 110° each and the opposite two angles at 70° each. It would be much harder to cut the glass, but it would be more aesthetically pleasing than rectangular solids. But these enclosures look great! I wish I was able to go see you when you come to America soon. I wish I would have had more notice to get off of work and drive 7 hours or 450 miles which I would gladly do to meet you. Have a great day!
I like the idea but you will probably have I higher rate chance of spiders escaping everytime you take an enclosure from off the top, also the weight of bigger tanks with more substrate on top would mean you need thicker glass to reduce the risk of the enclosures collapsing and squashing the spiders 😫😁😁👍
I love the time jumps! Perhaps time jump to exoticslair and do feeding video... "dark lair crunches by tarantula's". The new enclosures fit best with seperate lids i think. It's easier to feed them. Anyway, awesome video!! ("time jump" is it monday already????)
THATS GREAT I SUGGESTED AGES AGO YOU SHOULD SELL YOUR ENCLOSURES.BECAUSE NOBODY KNOWS WHAT WORKS BEST FOR VISUAL ATTRACTIVENESS, FUNCTIONALITY AND EASE OF PRACTICALLITY TO MAINTAIN THEM THAN A KEEPER. You imagine if all taranchula keepers designed, made and sold their own signature enclosures, it would be so successful because keepers end up buying loads of them over the course of years to try out and there always seems to be a feature which they don't find practical with them, where as yours would be perfect in every sense. Set ups for burrowers, terrestrials and arborials. You could include basic care instructions for beginners and sell dual cohabitation enclosures, communal enclosures to advanced species instructions and enclosures, such as for the H.Gigas, half aquarium, half pallidarium so they can burrow really really deep under the body of water as well as hunt and dive to exibit their natural behaviour. You could offer them in acrylic or glass. PETKO PRODUCTS! I mean within your name is the potential name brand to make you millions especially if the main superstores like Pets At Home take it up. First thing you must do though is get the products patented in case anyone tries to steal your product designs and lye about who it belongs to. It's about £250. 00 to patent a product. Look it up on the net to find out details for where you live. IN A WAY YOU ARE ALREADY BLESSED BECAUSE YOUR NAME BRAND IS ALREADY A GLOBAL PHENOMENON. GET READY GO!!!
I like the idea of the stacking enclosures, but maybe change it to where you make them a little taller, have a door on the front and then silicone the three on top of each other so they don't come apart. They would still be heavy, but you would at least be able to control which enclosures are open still. *Shrug* Hope that helps.
As the saying goes, practise makes perfect ;) I like the idea of these enclosures and im sure soon you will make them as perfect as you want them to be ^^
My biggest fear with 3 like this would be that if the T in the bottom enclosure was extra bolty, you couldn't just quickly slip the lid over. I am super glad you tried this out! I thought it was a creative experiment, It inspires me to do more with my enclosures , plus it's fun watching you create too!
1:15 '1 dubia coming right up!' I should say this to my dad when he calls my name
I would ABSOLUTELY buy this DIY set, I'd recommend FedEx shipping with a business affiliate account so that the glass doesn't get broken from being tossed around like in the post office lol

Reiner Zufall but does it still stick to the other part of glass as good with the soap on it?
Yes please!! Create a store with diy enclosure with shipping, so we can ordered like that one to please..i really like those enclosures...
Moving them all at one go will be a scary experience...
I love the new enclosures! Great video 🕷️
if you want to get rid of residue on the glas you can buy special silicone remover. Works really good
It's like a great idea that creates more problems than it solves XD

Just brought home my first ever sling. Thank you for being an awesome inspiration and i hope you keep being you :)
I like the bigger enclosures, it makes the T's look more interesting
i love with the last rehouse that girl, she kicks hairs at you last second
they having a dance off 🤣💜💙🕷🇬🇧
I for one would be willing to purchase your arboreal setup as a DIY kit if at all possible. I really like the style you did with the "blind sided door" compartment of the inner den idea.
I would totally buy enclosures from you if you started doing diy kits. Love the design of them.
I think stacking 2 is perfect,3 makes it so little to clunky n bulky, but all in all its pretty sweet.
Colorado has an impressive array of wild turantulas
I think the selling the flatpack enclosures is a great idea! :))
Just a thought, when I build a glass enclosure I start with the corner . Three pieces create a perfect right angle and from there I can complete the rest in one operation . Everything can be squared up before the silicone cures too much. Just a thought as it works for me in one day.
If you want to ship the enclosure as a DIY, maybe you could make them out of plexiglass ... less chances that it breaks in the shipping
Yes, I like the large enclosures, Petko.
I swear you are the most entertaining TH-camr ever! I used to fear spiders but seeing you with them makes me feel better. What spider would recommend to start with?
A stack of 2 even seems feasible. Just make sure you have the extra lids for feeding and cleaning time.
New enclosures are sick af.
I wonder the reason why the first spider didn’t like the new enclosure was because of the smell from the materials?
You wanna get a 5mil silicon smoother to do the inside edges nice and neat run a nice bead round the edges then use the tool to get a nice clean finish
I found your channel thanks to your boii Exotics Lair and you’re awesome to watch as well 🙌🏼
2 enclosures can be a better option to stack

15:22 I think, she just wanted to let you know, what she thinks about that new enclosure :D
It looks gooooood. I love the design and size. It would be really great if you made a kit.

I love the enclosures. would definitely buy unless price was prohibitive.
Definitely my favorite youtuber
I think from a creative aspect its beautiful!
Cool looking enclosure, i would stick with 2, seems more manageable
yeay, tarantula video 😁
20 minute video is very nice.
I love the time jumps! Perhaps time jump to exoticslair and do feeding video... "dark lair crunches by tarantula's". The new enclosures fit best with seperate lids i think. It's easier to feed them. Anyway, awesome video!! ("time jump" is it monday already????)
I like the design
Live & learn!!! Keep up the GREAT work!!!
😂😂😂😂 smooth building intro shit cool
Would be awesome with only the top enclosure.. Really like the design👍

Awesome vid. I think separate lids. Apart from that good setups.
The fact that those enclosures don't have their own lids is very strange to me
Jesteś świetny w tym co robisz oby tak dalej

I like what you just made. The weight shouldn’t be an issue unless you become unable to lift them. Seems like there’s a trade off on everything.
2 instead of 3 and i think it would be perfect
Looks amazing
If you sell them with the holes pre drilled then YES i will definitely buy them!
As the saying goes, practise makes perfect ;) I like the idea of these enclosures and im sure soon you will make them as perfect as you want them to be ^^
Awesome piece of engineering!!
Wow you’re measuring must be exact! Great video
You definitely need the separate top lids because feeding your Ts in a setup like this is going to be a nightmare.
So cool to watch..i love the dark den!!!!
My favorite vloger woaaaah
Great design
Great video as always
My biggest fear with 3 like this would be that if the T in the bottom enclosure was extra bolty, you couldn't just quickly slip the lid over. You'd need to put the 2 occupied enclosures on top, which would definitely chop off a leg if you accidentally caught one in between. You'd need a temporary lid nearby to keep the T corralled.
Wouldn't be an issue with a T that needed less substrate though, and I think the concept is really cool!
DIY kits would be great!!
Maybe put some structural reinforcment on the 4 top and bottom corner, like a little metallic bracketts glue on the glass.
Also glass on glass is prone to breakage, so maybe a little piece of electrical tape or something gummy in the corner of the botttom part...
