Very interesting about that orchid you purchased thanks for the great information. I like your channel a lot..
Thanks.
Hi, Roger! Sounds like you had a nice time wirh Hannah, good on you!
Happy to learn that the school project will continue.🌸
Thanks.
Good news about, show, health, the school project, and the increasing phals.
Thanks.
Hi Roger, I am almost sure this Phal is known under the trade name of "Las Vegas".
I bought exactly the same hybrid at a big discount at the local garden center a month ago. The pot was completely covered in algae and most roots burned, probably had been watered with tap water and left in the sun. After immediate repot, it is extending flower spikes, growing a new leaf and flashing a long active root tip from inside the cleaned up pot now - all at the same time. Blooms on mine have a faint spicy fragrance.
Thank you for as always brilliantly told story, a pleasure to watch.
The tag does say Las Vagas - but then I've seen a pink one with the same name. This one is advertised under Las Vagas in many places so I'm happy to keep the name.
Oops, I noticed the tag only after having read your reply - should have watched the video on a bigger screen instead of on my smartphone. I was able to ID mine because I had previously seen this hybrid in a TH-cam video where the owner mentioned its name, there was no tag.
Indeed, gorgeous colors of the blooms and very fleshy sepals. Could not resist buying it (thus rescuing it from ending in the compost bin at the shop).
Happy to hear you had a good time.Six pounds loss sounds great.Beautiful Phal! 😊
Thanks.
Beautiful phal. Glad you had a great day!
Thanks.
Well done Roger im glad you both had a good day and losing weight to thats good news carry on with the good weight loss. The phalaenopsis is gorgeous the winter colours is so beautiful a great find regards nick.
Thanks.
Great chat
Thanks.
Thanks Roger
You're welcome.
With respect to losing weight, remember that your current weight probably took years to add on, so don't expect it to come off in a few weeks, gradual progress is _still progress_ .
The 'logic' is to reduce carbs/sugar right down so my body will have to find it elsewhere - and that burns fat and the weight reduces.
@@GrowingOrchidswithRoger Oh I know. I'm glad you're seeing results. Low carb for me would be harder than low FODMAP. I love carbs 😂
Beautiful color on the new phal w basal growth. The lily info concerned me, so i looked it up, as i have cats. All parts of lilies are toxic to cats including leaves, stem, flowers, pollen, bulb even water that cut flowers are put in. Sounds like a great day out with your daughter..
Thanks.
Glad to hear you had a good time on the outing with Hannah. Very good news about the school orchid project 👏. Like the idea of small window shelf for your Phal.orchids 👍. The blooms of this new Phalaenopsis are very pretty 🧡....if I am not mistaken....don't you already own one with the same or similar flower colors? 😊
Enjoyed the video/ chat .
With no tags or descriptions in my notes of those I have left, I don't know. But if I do, it must be one of the poor ones with just a few leaves.
Valerian growing along a motorway is usually the yellow variety, the white variety almost always grows along the waters edge. The yellow one also get twice the size of the white one (we also have a marsh Valerian which is very rare and no bigger then 10/15 centimeters with white flowers, I've never seen it here)
Just to confuse things, the plant I'm talking about is known as 'Red Valerian' but is really Centranthus ruber and goes from pink through deep pink to red. This is also the plant I have in the garden from Carol.
@@GrowingOrchidswithRoger 😁it's called "thousand guilder weed" here and i've never seen it in the wild only in gardens
You had a busy day but it sounds like you and Hannah enjoyed yourselves. I’m happy to hear about your continued success with your health. I agree with you…..it’s 6 lbs….inclusive as you continue to lose the pounds….That is a beautiful phal….Thank you for the video Roger.
You're welcome.
School new is good, understandable too. Only you can decide what is too much for you to do comfortably. Good news on new Orchid showing.
Sounds as if you had quite the weekend! Beautiful blooms on the phal. Glad you don’t have to wait a long time for your medical appointments.
Thanks.
I watched Gardeners World for years and they never had a lot about orchids, always found that strange for a country known for gardens and greenhouses
You would think they'd at least have some native hardy orchids on the various sites they use.
@@GrowingOrchidswithRoger It's an outrage Roger 😁
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Most pharmacies are online now, it's just a matter of locating the one that you use and you can do the renewal without leaving your office chair, including pickup day and time. Saves waiting time inside as well, just a thought.
When I stroll round there today, I can ask about all this as it's all new to me.
We are advised to allow two weeks to order a new Rx.
I love phals with basal keikis! There is more potential for multiple spikes with multiple plants like that. Also, someone on Reddit was asking where to buy orchid bark I. The UK, so I suggested they message you on your most recent video. I hope you don’t mind.
Of course I don't mind.
A flight of stairs won’t kill you ! 😂
that phalaenopsis is a great deal
Thanks.
Beautiful Phalaenopsis! I made a 3-tier shelf for my south/west facing box window, where I put my smaller cacti (about 20-ish of them) in during the winter rest. I fully support the idea.
It's not required until the shorter days and cooler nights are back but it should be easy enough to construct.
Healthy weight loss is a pound or 2 a week. Don't get discouraged
Thanks.
Hi Roger - Sounds like a great weekend out. The Phal that you got there - you referred to the growth as a plantlet. Why would this not be a keiki? I love Phals & am very interested in all the info.
The expression keiki is normally used for cane type orchids and refers to growths part-way up the plant. This growth comes from the base of the plant - a 'basal growth'. Some would call it a keiki - I don't see it that way.
Put those two you’re dumping outside and see what happens. Just a thought.
👍
Hi Roger, we sort of think alike :) This weekend I made a small trip and ended up with a suspicious phalaenopsis. It has small light yellow flowers, fragrant, mottled leaves. But there is one tiny problem - it already has terminal spike. I had my doubts, but I just couldn't leave it there on the shelf. Now I can only hope it is only one-time glitch and the genetics isn't so bad as it seems.
Worst case - it just won't grow. Best case - several new basal growths that grow on normally.
Can’t you phone in your repeat prescriptions?
No idea - I'll find out when I go round today.
