    Hey Afzal. I am in my 2nd year of the bachelor in economics. I have a dual study programm: 3months internship, 3months university...I have a company which sponsors me, but its not in the financial sector. I do a lot of self studies at home, e.g. modelling or qualitative analysis of companies. Not only bc of interest, but also bc I am investing. My only chance to make an internship is after I completed my bachelor. How would you rate my chances to get into IB in GS?

    Hi Afzal, thanks for this video. I’m gonna be one of 3 spring interns at Citi Private Bank and will have an AC on the last day. Any idea what this would be like? And is it possible for all 3 of us to get a return offer for Summer?

    • @AfzalHussein
      @AfzalHussein  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, congrats and good luck! The AC will be like any other AC so be sure to expect a combination of presentations, case studies and most importantly an interview or two. Focus on company knowledge, commercial awareness and being likeable i.e. showing them that you're a good fit for the culture and organisation, sociable, easy going and have potential to carry out the role of an analyst to a high standard. It's possible for all 3 of you to receive return offers if the the team has headcount i.e. enough room for 3 of you to join. Don't worry about headcount. Focus on doing the best you can and you'll be more than fine! Keep an eye out for Sunday's video which will touch on ways to convert your spring week into a summer internship offer. Good luck with it :)

    Hi Afzal, I don't currently own a suit, where best should I buy a suit that's affordable? I'm assuming I'll need more than one.

  • @konrad4402
    @konrad4402 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Is one suit enough for a one-week spring week? I have 4 different shirts, 2 pairs of shoes/belt and 3 different ties but does it look sloppy if I come in with the same suit everyday?

    • @imrusty1972
      @imrusty1972 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes. 3 minimum. sorry

    • @AfzalHussein
      @AfzalHussein  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, it sounds like you have enough shirts, shoes, etc. which is great. It's not the end of the world if you only have one suit (if I'm honest it's fine and no-one will notice as you'll mix up the shirts, etc.), though having at least 2 suits would be ideal (they don't need to be extremely expensive or designer). Don't go out of your way to purchase lots of garments solely for a spring week. You should definitely have a few suits for your summer internship next year. After all, it's unusual for a first year university student to have lots of suits. You won't look 'sloppy' so don't worry. Good luck with it! :)

    Hi Afzal, I recently got an offer from the lse and after advice from multiple people(including yourself) I’m trying to get experience in finance/IB. However as an a level student(in wales)I am struggling. I am wondering if experience with a financial advisory ‘firm’(highly likely I can get experience) is worth it? The FA is successful however is not very big.

    • @AfzalHussein
      @AfzalHussein  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, congrats on your offer! I would highly recommend you get as much experience as possible. Regardless of whether it's finance related or not, or whether it's at a reputable company or not. You need to build your CV so you can receive interview offers when it comes to applying to spring weeks and internships, etc. Experience is the currency! Hope that helps :)

      Afzal Hussein Yep, great thanks

      It is important where you worked, but the most important thing is what you have done during your experience so you can write it on your CV. As Afzal said, take on every opportunity you have as the most important thing for you right now is to learn, explore and build your CV.
      Good luck!
