In fact, the USAAF preferred B-24s to B-17s because they could carry a slightly heavier bomb load, but they were far easier to produce, at the cost of being more fragile than the legendarily tough B-17 and a bit harder to fly, I think. But yeah, a B-24 an hour at Willow Run was indeed their peak production.

Schmidtler stayed in power so everything went roughly the same until France capped. I didn't even know the Franco-British Union existed until I reflexively clicked yes on the event that fired before I registered what had happened, lol.

Franco-British Union sadly doesn't function in HoI4 as far as I know, the same as french unification. There is no way to control the event even with cheats.
The funny thing is a during the Vietnam War a artillery piece shot the USS New Jersey. It did no damage but scratch the deck but the captain turned all 9 16 inch guns and did a full broadside and deleted the mountain on the island. One of it's escort ships messaged them "Temper, temper."
Planes sell for a lot compared to infantry equipment. The way I do it is I don't sell planes a lot because I genuinely need a lot of planes, but in this case, where he is mass producing his planes all the time, it's better to sell planes.
Howdy Stakuyi… when I saw the theme, I remembered a gaming story that includes bombers… I was playing Axis & Allies with a buddy, me Axis, him allies. 2 hours in, Japan started getting lucky, and eventually they took over the world - including taking Germany to the woodshed. Complete global empire. Forcing a passage through the Panama wouldn’t be realistic - defenders could blow the far side and my navy would be stuck. So Japan invaded South America, and dominoed its way north, capturing the canal outright, and conducting a three-front war against the US on American soil… east and west coasts, and Mexico, too, including landings via the Gulf. That day I realized 2 things: 1.) The rules allow you to conduct a MASSIVE shore bombardment with dozens of battleships, to kill every single defender before invading with a single infantry unit, to complete the humiliation. 2.) They also allow you to use a cloud of heavy bombers to conduct an economy-draining strategic bombing campaign that vacuums every bit of cash an enemy still gets. Bonus tip: Sort of like sitting on sets of cards in Risk. Then redeeming multiple sets at once, each one doubling the worth of the previous one… your foes will think you’re safely contained - then blammo, you drop 100s of units and steamroller everyone.

On the other hand, I wanted to see the sun never set on the Glorious Empire of the Rising Sun! It didnt take all that long, once Japan had the heavy bombers and strategic bombing, the Allies were doomed. Granted, having 20-24 battleships firing bombardment missions to support invasions of both coasts pretty well wrecked any defense they managed to scrape together. Every turn, shore bombardment 20x and one infantry. Even if the invasion is turned back this turn, here come the bombers and battleships again next turn, and pound everything flatter all over again. Only time I ever saw Japan win in that game. Usually the axis just can’t keep up with the production capacity of the allies, and they get outspent. But - if Japan Germany split Russia early in the game, then it’s 2 vs 2, with closer economic parity - and the Allies lose the benefit of having 2 consecutive turns, letting one ally hurl themselves on the wire and take out defenders followed by the following ally capturing the net w empty territory.
Hey Stakuyi, bit late to comment, but if you open the air region screen, you can open the details (under the air superiority bar) and then you can get a graph for bombed buildings on a daily, monthly and yearly basis. It also gives stats for planes lost/killed and other stuff
20:29 Something to be aware of is that the game does inform you of how many factories you have destroyed. It has a chart you can see if you right click the nation you bombed. You can also click the tiles you are bombing and see how much infrastructure is left.
Fun fact: In Equestria at War we've retooled the archetypes of aircraft slightly so that small airframes/regular CAS are less good at supply bombing (which makes CAS even more overpowered than it already was in vanilla) and instead gives tactical bombers/medium airframes bonuses for that mission type. That way medium airframes have their own strategic niche outside of their tactical uses as heavy fighters which can situationally outperform regular fighters.
Totally, stacks of dead bodies are given way to much credit, although this mirrors the negotiations between the Allies and the Comintern. Stalin kept pointing at all the dead Russians as why they deserved more. Of course no mention about Soviets responsible for many of those.

Week 4 of asking @stakuyi to play Communist Hippogriffia in HoI4 EaW: Basically everything is mostly straght-forward, but I should that in case of losing North Zebrican War Hippogriffia will get one of bad endings. Also you SHOULD be nice, otherwise Posada get depressed and commits nuclear self-un-aliving with 5 possible quick endings after that. In theory you can spare scientists for sweet-sweet bonuses only if you don't take other unethical options. Also side-note: Macawia does NOT affect on outcome, but if chose to get a puppet, they'll get a nice custom flag and also if you spare Razorbeak, she'll get amnesty at the end with a fun event. The last thing: No, you won't declare war on every nation, but you get a bunch of bonuses with new project of deep-penetration bomber(you need super-large airframe for that) and you need to justify on other supremasist nations(you get a discount on that too) until there will left none and then press an event in the decisions. DO NOT USE H-BOMB!!! It's a long run, but it's so op!

Before I watch, a note about CAS: I mean, *technically* the role of CAS in HoI4 is also used by light scout planes and light *bombers*, so you could use them regardless. But you're the guy doing the challenge, not me.
Technically the American A-20 Havoc was classified as a “fast bomber”, since they didn’t have bomb locks, instead they had small bomb bays for standard horizontal bombing. Paradox still classifies them as CAS though. On D-Day they were used to attack the Atlantic wall ahead of the incoming troops.
if you click the autoupgrade button in youre designer newly researchd hulls will automatically be applied. there is no need to create a new template every time you research a new plane. this works for planes, tanks and i think ships too. this way you also loose less production because it`s an upgrade and not a new template

In order for it to have an impact the nuclear program would also need a viable delivery system, and a decent production rate for weapons grade fissionables because one or two bombs probably wouldn't be enough to stop the allies. The best use for nuclear weapons would have probably been to use them against major channel ports to prevent the western allies from using them to supply a drive east into Germany. As noted elsewhere that still leaves a few million angry Soviets driving west though.
At most the western allies might have peaced out. It still wouldn't save Germany. Having a city erased would've kicked the political will to supply the soviets into over drive and Germany just straight up didn't have the resources to deal with the soviets. As a result the soviets would use the new found influx of resources to entirely occupy all Axis Territory and might even have enough juice in the tank to take all of mainland Europe with the allies not being around to present enough military force to stop them.

Yugoslavia did historically side with the Axis and side the tripartite pact. The pro allied military then couped the government 3 days later
