That is one of the best solutions I have seen. Even beats Chuck Cassidy's door, in my opinion.

Been playing with this idea for a week or 2 never thought of the rectangle to connect to door great solution! Very thoughtful preparation !

Nice idea to weld the two halves together. Hadn’t thought of that. 👍🏼

Great job Love the door , I like the Idea of making it into one swinging door verses two I may have gone with the metal tubing you put between the doors for a strike pad where you did the 2 X 4 but it turned out Great . I really Love the Bus color kind of Beachy , maybe that's what you were going for. enjoy and best of wishes . Laterz - Leland

How was the road noise and vibration on your door? We did a similar conversion and it constantly whistles and vibrates the door lock open and no amount of weatherstripping and latches seems to help. 😢

It rattles a little on a bumpy road but never opens the lock while in motion, I guess we got lucky because there is not really much weather stripping and no real noise, she does not drive it long distances on the highway because she operates mostly around Central Florida

Could you show us what the storage area looks like to the right when you come in the door (under dash)? I'm working on that area in my skoolie and need help! Thanks!

I like the colors. Great job converting the two doors to a single slab. Why 2x4 and not galvanneal?

Did you have to cut out the first door or were you able to remove the hinges?

      Just unscrewed the hinges, easy.

This will be how I do mine thanks so much! Only change is the inside shouldn’t be a turn knob it should be a key as well otherwise 2 seconds and bad guys in just breaking the glass.

Thanks for your input, I thoughtfully considered the inside key, it is a school bus with lots of windows to break, especially the rear doors can be easily penetrated. If someone really wants to get in, they will. I wanted my daughter to be able to quickly lock/unlock the door from inside with out having to find a key, she does not like to carry stuff in her pockets like keys. I tried to look at the big picture and realize it is not a perfect solution but is the most practical for her.

You did not say how you got the doors off, like the first one. How do you take the doors off?

The doors came off easy, the hinges just have screws the needed to be undone.
