    Fr. Seraphim, I am attending Pascha for the first time tonight. I have struggled to keep the Lenten fast and though failing, have been tremendously encouraged in getting back up and struggling again for repentance through your encouraging words in these videos. I am seeing the fruit of God's gifts in this time and I look forward to celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ tonight! Be blessed, father. And thank you for the work you do for the Lord and for our sakes.

      The Sacrament of Confession is much more than an opportunity to confess our sins, it is also a chance to reveal our spiritual hopes and desires before the Lord and to receive guidance through our spiritual father. We set our 'battle plan' in Confession, then we go and silently fulfil it.

More especially have mercy upon Your servants who are under persecution for Your sake and for the sake of the Orthodox faith at the hands of heathen nations, of apostates, and of heretics: remember them, visit, strengthen, keep and comfort them, and make haste to grant them, by Your power, relief, freedom and deliverance.☦️🕊❤️

    Thank you, Father! It is an awesome meditation to ponder the fact that it is WE who choose Hell. It means we are rejecting God. God does not throw people into Hell. Hell is God for the those who have rejected Him. Instead of being Light and Life He is torment. "The doors of Hell are locked from the inside." - CS Lewis, The Problem of Pain

Returning to these things today made me realize the hungering within makes me desire "more" of God - "more" of the Holy Spirit. Bless you my dear Father. Your words spoke beautiful wisdom to me. I am struggling this Lent (Catholic calendar) with my anger and utter frustration. Pray for me. How beautiful the metaphor you made of the rivulets on the strand, those clawing marks like chaotic hieroglyphs made by the lapping water on the shore. I am reminded of Jesus stooping down to write with his finger in the dust when he challenged those who were not sinners to throw the first rock at the adulteress, and then they all walked away to leave her and Jesus alone when he tells her not to sin anymore.

    I'm only edging into Orthodoxy but I started Lent at the Catholic time. I have kept the Orthodox food rules but have faltered on some rules I made for myself. Maybe I will aim to be going solid so that in 2 weeks I can continue for Orthodox Lent.
    One thing though - I made exceptions to the food rule on Sundays because I visit my parents and my mother makes a lovely roast dinner so I felt I didn't want to put her out by refusing what I am served and also, I am really not used to being vegan so I thought eating meat once a week might be safer. Is this bad, do you think?

    Father please forgive this question but I must know.. If someone I know or used to know were to go hades, how many liturgys would it take to get them out of there and move them to Paradise? Is it possible that our prayers can move a soul from the negative part of hades to the posstive part of hades?

    • @s.d.berquist6866
      @s.d.berquist6866 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear Jason,
      I feel compelled to answer you as a sister in Christ. First, believe and hold fast to the Mercy of God! If you fear your loved one is not close to God after death, you simply pray for their soul. “Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy upon -- and forgive them all their sins, known and unknown, things done and left undone. Grant them your light and grace.” And whatever beautiful prayers your heart can offer. There are also akathists for the departed in our prayers of the Orthodox Church. One I especially love is called “Akathist for the repose of those who have fallen asleep”. The most important thing is DO NOT despair, but throw yourself upon the mercy of God and cling to Him. May His love comfort you, dear brother.

    • @s.d.berquist6866
      @s.d.berquist6866 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, dear brother Jason, in Orthodoxy we do not think in terms of “how many liturgies” it would take to relieve a soul from torment. We pray, trust, repent, pray, trust, repent. Stay close to Christ. God bless.
