As I wandered through the streets of Barangay Pinagsama, I stumbled upon incredible and touching stories of resilience. I met a young girl who dreams of going to school but struggles because she has no allowance. I also encountered a tatay with only one leg, asking for help to get a prosthetic leg so he can support his family again. These moments truly moved me. Sometimes, the stray cats and dogs you see actually have owners. In Metro Manila, there are specific laws and restrictions for animals. But in the provinces, pets have more freedom. They can roam around, play with other animals, and still find their way back home, no matter how far they wander.

Magandang araw, @tagalogkurt. You did not hear the shawarma guy say, buy one get one, that's why you got 2. Again, I noticed the old man noises you make in sitting down and now in getting up, too. You need physical therapy for your back, I think. 😀 You are right. You do stand out in a crowd of pinoys in the barangay, and therefore, would attract them towards you. Then they find out you can speak the language, all the more they'd be interested in getting to know you. I remember growing up in Manila, when we see Americans walking in our neighborhood, we would follow them around. I would be tempted to ask for a selfie, too. But now that I am here in the US, no more, because here, I am the one who stands out in a crowd of Americans. hahaha
