Great video, feels like we are with you in garage.
Thanks mate, more coming.
As for spending on your gear as a DIYer I've picked up all my gear second hand for bugger all. Latest score was a nilfisk WAP dust extractor - all I need is to make a dedicated air hose from the d/a sander to the vac unit and I'm in business. No more bog dust! I'm considering making an mdf trolley to sit the vac in but also to hold the hoses, cords and sand paper all in one unit that I can push around.
Maybe it’s my woodworking and carpentry background but directional sanding just seems natural. When you’re hand planing a piece of wood flat- not smooth, flat- you don’t use short tools, you use long planes that bridge lows and cut the highs. Like a road grader. Long machine, blade in the middle. Or polishing a metal part surface-plate flat.
Sanding with a tool in the short direction introduces uneven pressures and angular anomalies.
It just never occurred to me to do it any other way.
Good vid
5:15 can't blame it on the fitters when working at home 😂
I just ordered some of that fancy 3m sandpaper to try. Can get 5 times more if I order Amazon Chinese paper...but use more, so I think buying good paper is worth it. Gun cleaner...yup good stuff. I use it a lot at home. Dig the home-based content👍
Oh, yeah, those 6 flap LED lights are pretty awesome too! Got 3 of em up, and 48 inch light weight LED's on both sides of my work bay. I Enjoy your videos, have a great weekend!
You made me feel right at home there Gunny hearing all the rain hitting your garage roof is just like the weather we get here in the UK 😂 I love the 3M Cubitron multi-hole discs as they cut well and last for ages, car is looking good Gunny you are making good progress and the way you are getting more jobs coming in you will soon be able to leave your day job 🤔😁👍 John UK.
That 3m spraygun cleaner is awesome but they go pretty quickly for me I usually buy a box of them, glad to see some good ol home painting 👍🏻
Thanks for the vid bloke, really learning heaps. Can you talk about the effects of humidity, when not to paint/ prep and if some types of paint are more or less tolerant. Maybe how to fix issues caused by spraying in too high humidity?
I did some wheels for my uncle from silver with alot of curb and gutter rash to matte black . I spoke to him the other day and alot of people he talked to wanted me to paint their rims to , might be good to earn some extra cash , and they don't take alot of space so i could sand them in my garage i would need to buy a electric sander so i can prep them at home and paint them at work . but i should earn that back after one or 2 jobs
Blackmill radio. Love the videos and dubstep is motivational haha.
Boom another step closer to finishing. Top work . 🇬🇧 ❤
Hell cant beat crankin tune n busting out. Haha gunnys rave party 🤘👊
The river keeps the dust down
Amazing bro, from a fellow painter, from Denmark
This channel a lil guilty pleasure. Educational but also entertaining! Love the vibes, just watched with my morning coffee! Cheers man!
The home vids are really good mate
Loving this video outcome there gunny just watched the series of this vw and it is coming along nicely, Watching from Perth, will have to give ur sanding techniques a crack as I am a bit hopeless atm at blocking out panels and I need to improve this skill, have done a few of my own things but still got alot of practice to do to get good at it, ur a champion gunny keep the videos coming 👌
Hi Gunny, Do you think you could do a video on how you would mix up paint? Say you have a 4:1 mix ratio with 1part hardner and 10-15% reducer? That would be very helpful. Thanks for the great content.
Gunny's is a good mood tonight, WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, fuckin love it, have a good weekend brother ✊
Put another way it's like this: When you cross-block too much like you showed you don't then you would be using a 3" 'long' block that is just very very wide and yeah it rides the waves instead of cutting them down. Most blocking should be in a straight line or as much as you can without the gouges. Just helping with the words you said it good too.
Enjoying all the things you have to say about the trade retired after30yyears and still learning keep the videos coming my friend God bless
You might want to put a pre filter in front of your exhaust fan because paint will shorten it's life trust me.
Are you going to blend in the left fender?
After painting for so many years,I realized that a true silver, don't cover 600 scratched.🙊🙊🙊 Especially on the blend side.
Hi mate, where did you ordered that base coat from?
Awesome video gunny I really enjoying the series and thanks for the info how to block the primer and tell Skye I said hello 👋 haha 🤣 much love ❤️ gunny 🙏🙏💯💯💯👌👌👌👍👍👍
Interesting stuff man! Love your vids keep em coming Gunny 👍🤘.
Love the videos mate, long time subscriber, even brought guns from your recommendation.
Any chance of quick video of the basic suppliers required for a home paint job, what grades of sandpaper etc. Thanks
Have you ever painted a beetle completely resprayed inside and out?
I use Brake Clean, to clean my guns. 3 dollars, US. Haven't had an issue using it, yet. Do you guys have brake clean and how much is it?
I looked into it and it's more expensive than the gun cleaner.
@@TheGunmanChannel Wow. Sucks for you guys. Spray gun cleaner is 8.00 and brake clean is 3.00 (US), here. Keep up the videos! 👍
Hi Gunny, So what is the sanding method after the primer has dried? You use 320, then what are you using afterwards to get rid of all the sanding scratches before you lay the base coat down?
Next video will continue but yeah 600 on basecoat areas and 800 on blends
Hi I have got a devilbiss pro lite can I spray silver metallic 2k thanks George
Where are you now Gunny? You mentioned that you are not in Perth any more.
Just tuned in again, had a break from painting.
I'm back in Melbourne now mate, close to family.
Better to have worms on the floor than spiders in the paint.
Love ur work gunny where abouts are u now days
In my hometown of Melbourne
Playing music on you tube can get videos removed due to copyright issues. Looks a bit scary using electrical tools whilst standing in a river of water. Other than that, you're doing a good job mate 👍👍
🙏🙏🙏👍
Hey Gunman good fun video and great for use back yard sprayers to learn from. Couple of things, can you give us the links to that fancy looking light you showed? And where do you get the gun cleaner for $8au a can mate? I will buy a bunch at that price. Keep those vids coming 👍
I think I'm lucky to get my boss' discount, full whack is closer to $15 for the gun cleaner. We get it from Alan Mance. Here's the link to the light www.ebay.com.au/itm/294857301277?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=bLKYLg1fSry&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=vchoJqgUSGe&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Sutton's patrs in Sydney on eBay 12.20 a can. Pick only though..
@@TheGunmanChannel Thanks for the link mate 👍
The lower end guns are hit or miss. Like harbor freight had a basic decent hvlp gun for $35 once. I’m not a high-end painter but it was/is great at 18-26psi.
I still use it when I paint which is only occasionally.
But their $150.00??? gun was a pain in the neck and not nice to use and I returned it.
If I was going to paint a newer, nicer car I wouldn’t buy a budget gun though. I’d jump right up to something that I know wouldn’t give me any surprises and has a good rep.
Do you no longer work in the workshop?
I do, I just do weekend and after hours work now at home
👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Ranting is good there's lots of information ranting
