Well, we sanded the old ones down a bit to smooth it up, then after the primer and paint had been applied, we put the decals on. After that we clear coated over everything.
That’s all it needed, we weren’t doing a restoration, we were just slapping some red over the bare hood. It looks way better than it did. The wheels weren’t rusty or bare and half the time you can’t see the rear wheels anyway because of the duals

Very nice, have one just like yours that is worse off than you started with here. How did you prep the hood and all the fiberglass pieces?
What type of paint did you use. Water based or Oil based?
We used Van Sickle paint. It’s an oil based paint. We did this three years ago and it seems to have held up just fine.

Why not paint the wheels and hubs. Without doing them the tractor was only half painted.

Deglazed the good where the fiber was showing then lightly sanded and wiped with mineral spirts
