I had this Album on repeat for a full year when it was released. And here I am circling back to put it back on repeat for another year. An ageless masterpiece.
So I'm in my mid-30s and I'm going through a reminiscing period and rediscovering all these bands that I listen to when I was a teenager back around 2000/2003 era, this album brings up so many emotions and it's such a pleasure to listen to. Two other notable albums that came out in 2000 that have been on Replay for me are Deftones white pony and A Perfect Circle Mer de Noms
I actually heard this LP for the first time in 2015.....Not sure how/why I missed it when it was first released. Listened to the whole thing, start to finish, and I knew this was going to be something I would listen again. It's been 1 of my favorite albums and band to listen to to this day! This frickin thing KICKS ASS!!!!
These guys had talent but between short bus being release in 95, this album in 99 and the 3rd in 03 or 04 paired with Richard being drunk at live performances it sealed the deal. Too many good acts at the time. Richard was in NiN and parted ways because of creative differences with Reznor. That's how filter was born. I still have the original cd I bought in 99 in near mint condition. Today, that's like saying you have original vinyl that doesnt loop in one spot.
Cool record. 2000 had such an array of awesome, futuristic-sounding records. Hybrid Theory, Parachutes, Kid A, etc. It was a great year indeed, probably the last truly carefree year
Yes, 9/11 right around the corner f'd things up for sure, my peak was seeing Radiohead play Kid A in entirety at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington State, that was a great album, along with the ones you mentioned. Things went south shortly after that. The Strokes 1st album is the first one I remember coming in right after 9/11, then Interpol a year or so later...

Hah I've got the cd in my truck and whenever I put it in, I'll usually leave it looping for a while
I had the CD and listened for a year when it came out. In the car.
😮

My favorite song ahaha
Richard Patrick is a genius, no more or less than Trent Reznor.
Gracias!
Now that it's been confirmed in interviews that half the songs on this album are about D'arcy Wretzky it just makes so much more sense...
