Jesus... watching him play neon is just insane. the way he can play one of the most technically challenging songs he has ever created as well as sing like it's nothing is just beyond me
I can play it (thanks to my quite big hands) and when you have the chords and the picking pattern down it’s actually not that hard to play (big hands is a huge advantage cuz otherwise the chord changes are much harder)
I was wondering why Your Body Is A Wonderland was 8 minutes long here and then that surprise change from 03:48 onwards... Ooof! Neon/Tom's Diner - super!!!
It's really funny that he rejected some of these songs for a while as well as other early corny songs of his. He may be 40 but DAMN he's hotter than ever playing them. Whatever hot hollywood ass he got when he was younger he could do even better now. He's better than ever!
@@pattygq I swore I heard toms diner too but it might just be similar in terms of improvisation cause I wouldn't doubt he came up with that on the spot and just went with it
@@Mars-pw4iw 6:42 to 6:50 is def Tom's Diner then after that is his improv. I've done that before on piano; when you're groovin' the flow can take you anywhere.
The moment he started tuning down i knew it would be neon. Im sure many others did too.
its in the title?
Ernesto Buendia no its because I was there in person...

well... he wrote that song decades ago i'd sure hope he can play it good
The picking technique isn't hard once you figure it out and practice. I'll help you. The picking pattern has 3 sections.

All the guitar players know what’s about to happen when you hear that low C😂
Your body is a wonderland,The song that every John Mayer lover and HATER know by heart
Anybody notice John played his easiest song (Wonderland) followed by his hardest (Neon.) Not by accident.
definitely not an easy song haha, def his "poppiest" vs his most complex though lol
3:25 that note
Unimaginable

What an esoteric reference, but I know exactly what performance you are referencing. The one where he's in the orange shirt with David L on bass

6:42 Did he just start playing fall out boy?
It's Tom's Diner

Yes, yes he did. I saw your comment and realised that John put centuries into it
Sounds more like toms diner to me😂
Tom's diner and ceturies intro is the same thing
It’s Tom’s diner by Suzanne Vega. Fall out boy sampled it on centuries
Centuries specifically 😁
Wow, these vids are great! Thanks for sharing :) !!

that is the best version of neon i've ever heard.
like if you agree. :P
I've probably seen 100 diff versions of him play Neon.. this was good but not the best ;)
ive seen 100 diff versions of neon as well. but something about the way he played this, with the kind of intensity he played this, he made me jump.
Check out the Boston show Neon this past April. The bomb!
i think the Hotel Cafe one is still the best... that solo is just the best acoustic guitar playing i've ever heard... and i've heard a ton...
You guys gotta check out the live in Tempe version
It’s the last song on the video so it shouldn’t be too hard to find
bridging a song in f to a song in c minor is not easy
7 dislikes from the friends and family of that poor, poor guitar.
Yeh no guitar should go through that😁
